Hopefully the next gen will have more memory then. Restoring does stop the crashing for maybe a day or two. But who wants to restore their ipad every day just because it's buggy?! Not me. I think I will just get a refund and use my lg g pad, which I have never had a problem with, apart from the fact it is running android haha.

A friend of mine says his iPad Air hasn't crashed once. And others with iPad airs and minis haven't mentioned it.

My iPad Air hasn't crashed at all, and I've had zero problems with Safari even with 5 tabs open. Don't listen to the ones who go on and on about the 1GB of RAM and blame everything on it. They are bent on trashing Apple over it whenever they can and refuse to accept that many of us are having no problems at all. Have you tried using another browser to see if the crashing is limited to Safari or not? If you haven't updated to 7.1 you need to. It fixes some bugs within Safari.

All 3 minis have had 7.1 and now this one has had latest update from a couple of days ago.

Tries using chrome but can't stand to use it.

Safari STILL crashing on me very regular. Going to have to accept I'm stuck with this bad device until the next gen comes out

Not sure if I'm lucky or what I've never had the common problems with my iphone 5 or my ipad mini retina. :apple:

There are lots of other browsers out there. Opera, Firefox, Mercury, Photon, etc. Try them out and see if the problem still exists.

iPad retina 3rd gen - iOS 7.1.1 Pangu JB for me.

I also have this problem. Even something simple like browsing reddit or being on here WILL cause it to overheat. I've had it force-reboot by itself while on nook, reading. I've also had to home-power reboot it a few times after going to 7.1.1.

Some have had good luck with Atomic web browser. They have a free and a pay version.

What is the site crashing u? Send the link cause I want to see if mine would do it too

its random. i could be viewing this thread and it will randomly die. just quits safari back to home screen.

i can have safari open and not even scrolling up and down just reading and it will just go off randomly!?

its really annoying! even more annoying is apples lame excuse. ITS A LIMITATION OF THE DEVICE! apparently running safari/web browsing is a limitation of the device

I bought my first RMini 5 minutes into launch. I used it till January when I slipped on ice. I live in Houston Texas and have never see snow let alone ice lol, bur anyway I shattered the screen and got an AppleCare replacement.
Neither of those RMini's have ever crashed with the exception of this site, and that is because it is so massive:
http://www.drudgereport.com/
But even the Drudge report has only crashed me a couple of times. It usually just hangs up.
I'm surprised you are having so much trouble. Maybe it has something to do with your providers connection. Sorry for your troubles.

so far so good with atomic, havent touch safari in weeks

But, how could this be? It's the RAM.... Right? Oh wait. Maybe it's not the RAM and it's actually Safari. Darn it, that's gonna mess up the "RAM activists" message now. Please don't tell anyone about this. :D

Update on this issue.

I am now on ios8 beta 3. Instead of crashing back to home screen, I now get page reloads and the "page encountered an error" or some similar message at the top of the screen, and it seems to be happening a lot more often.

It seems apple are now blaming the websites for the problem?

The Ram activist? That's totally hilariously :p I wouldn't have ever imaged that there would be any push back for additional ram. Seriously, testing other browsers wouldn't verify anything because they don't use Nitro. Third party web browsers on IOS are basically nothing more than reskinned Safari minus Nitro.

This changes in IOS 8 but since it's beta software you can't really determine anything just yet. http://9to5mac.com/2014/06/03/ios-8...-apps-to-have-the-same-performance-as-safari/

Well to be fair, u are using the beta...

They are just the most common sites I have noticed it on. And no I don't want to use the apps that are available, except the YouTube app.

It can happen on any site at any time.

There will be glitches? If you don't know that, why are you using beta software anyway?

Besides the crashing happens even on ios7 so we can only hope for fixes in ios8.

Exactly. So this glitch is nothing new to me, I'm not complaining about the beta being buggy. It's actually sort of better as it now just reloads the page and gives me an error message, instead of crashing back to homescreen

Will start by saying I only bought my iPad mini about 6 weeks ago so it's fairly new! And I didn't have this problem with my 1st gen iPad mini or iPhone 4s or iPhone 5s!

As title says, safari keeps randomly crashing on my retina mini. Can be browsing any website any time it will do it, completely random. Sometimes remembers what page I was on, sometimes I end up back at the favourites tab when I reopen safari.

After a week dealing with apple support trying different resets and backups etc they eventually told me it must be a hardware problem. And made me an appointment at an apple store.

Went to the apple store and the genius was sure it was a software problem, after I told him apple support told me it was hardware he took my ipad and gave me a refurb replacement. He said if this one keeps doing it then it must be a limitation of the device!!!!

What?!? how can it be a limitation of the device?! A device which is primarily used for browsing the internet can't even do that! It doesn't make sense.

I have read about memory problems etc on various websites and forums. Has anyone else had this problem!? It's getting really annoying. I don't want to have to return this to where I bought it, but looks like I'm going to have to start using my LG G Pad! And I hate android

Use another browser.

Which are basically a reskinned version of Safari with inferior performance since they can't access Nitro java script engine. So they have most of the same issues and reduced performance.

Try

Another

Browser

That's all I said. Finished.

If it doesn't work, throw the iPad away. Sell it. Get a galaxy Tab s.

One of the reasons that there are apps for websites on the ipad is that they improve the user experience by minimising crashes caused by memory intensive websites. Mobile versions or otherwise. There are apps available for the websites above that will avoid your problem. If you don't want to use the apps then I guess you have an unfixable problem.
