I have an rMini and I frequently zoom and pan around websites. That really seems to trigger the crashing and tab reloading issues. I understand that not everyone is equally effected by this problem. Saying this it really greatly effects my usage of the rMini and diminishes my opinion of it. At this point I'm sorry I ever bought it. Which is sad because it's a very nice piece of technology minus this issue.

One of the reasons that there are apps for websites on the ipad is that they improve the user experience by minimising crashes caused by memory intensive websites. Mobile versions or otherwise. There are apps available for the websites above that will avoid your problem. If you don't want to use the apps then I guess you have an unfixable problem.

.

They could just make the device work better

Apps quitting all the time... Is fine?

I've never had problems with apps quitting, tabs reloading or any of the stuff some people here love to constantly be angry about. I think it's mostly made up/exaggerated, to be honest. Yes some people will get defective devices and some people will have apps that don't play well together but the majority of iPad owners I think are perfectly happy and not having any of the issues complained about endlessly here. It's like the screen defect nonsense, where people go out of their way to find something to complain about. Normal people are never going to stare at a blank white screen or put a checkerboard pattern up for an extended length of time just to find some retention nonsense. Some people are just not happy unless they have something to complain about. It's human nature I suppose.

I have gone through 3 retina iPad minis within 2 months. All of them quitting apps and reloading tabs constantly.

I told myself I was not to respond to this drivel but – Nope. I just do not believe the above.

I can't speak about the retina mini, but i did buy my wife the Mini 1 a month or so ago. It works flawlessly. iOS 7

The difference is one is A5 the other one is A7 64bit. I am sure the 64 bit is causing app issues. Maybe crashing here and there. I would hold on to the Retina and the Air and wait for iOS 8. I think this should take care of most of that.

I'm sure the Non 64bit iOS devices are more stable.

Apple’s 64-bit A7 processor and iOS 7 may cause higher app crash rates

Try mercury browser. But seriously some people are more lenient about what's considered good proformance. Ios8 is the only thing that can same some of the more picky users.

And no I don't want to use the apps that are available

This thread is only about one thing. The device has browser limitations, which is why it offers such great app alternatives. Those who don't want to use the apps need a laptop for at least the next couple of years.

Apparently browsing websites is safaris main limitation... It can't do it.

This isn't as crazy as it sounds. Apple customer service strategy seems to be to throw a replacement devices at you until you quiet up or give up. When iOS 7 was first released it had some stability issues until 7.1 came out so when you called Apple support instead of them acknowledging there was a software problem they would simply offer to exchange your device (BTW it still does). I personally turned them down on multiple occasions saying I know it wasn't a hardware issue. It's not like Apple looses money on the deal since they can resell the device as refurbished for a profit.

If you don't believe me comb through the forums and you'll see the same story over and over again.

I believe the OP is having the issues they say they are but it is NOT the norm at all. For every crashing, tab reloading thread there are likely millions of users who are having no trouble at all. We al know how forums work: people come here to discuss problems, not to tell everyone how great everything is working.

Safari does have some issues that have to be worked out, no doubt. But, crashing and apps closing is something else. Not sure what. If you can't get any satisfaction from an iPad then try a another tablet. Not sure what else to tell those who just can't make this work.....?

I have had my ipad mini (1st gen) for a while now, and I can't ever remember Safari crashing until the last update, it does it about five times a day now.
That's the reason I came across this thread, and joined the forum.....hello all by the way.........

Hello and welcome to a fun place to hang out.
Since I don't have a first gen anymore....
But is it certain sites doing this to you? The Drudge Report http://www.drudgereport.com/ causes me to crash sometimes, but that's the only one. Sites like this are massive and can really cause problems, but it is a very informative place to visit.
