Aaaaah! Me and Bonzi Buddy... good friends back in the day... he'd search the interwebs for me and he'd do tricks if I got bored.... I miss that little guy... *sniff*

I prefer Firefox. Safari only on the iPhone, and only because I have no choice. I wonder if other browser options for the iPhone will be available thru the app store later this year?

mozilla and apple both indicate mobileFirefox won't be able to make into iphone, apple has pretty strict policy on this one. hey, its apple's platform.... its good to have no competition :)

operaMINI is a java app. if iphone would allow java. OM might make it.

its a hard choice between firfox and opera for me

Well, I like Opera's overall interface better, they were the first to bring Mouse gestures and of the only two who have it so far, I think they implement it much better...Also, I think since they were one of the first to implement tabbed browsing, they do it a lot better in my opinion. I even prefer Safari over Firefox most of the time, except for in Linux and Windows..

Stick with Safari. Camino is a glorified FireFox. I can't imagine they are any quicker to fix bugs or patch holes.

indeed one of my concerns, camino probably isn't being patched faster than safari, Im not sure how often holes being discovered tho, guess nobody care to list them, just like nobody list omniweb's or shiira's security problems.... lol

PS. Camino is 100% mac-fied firefox, glory or not, hard to say since it does indeed lost some of the most significant characters of firefox, most obviously, those 2000 extensions. Of course it gains many functions as well, which weigh more, up to each individuals.

I don't know if opera is investing enough resources on mac,, opera for mac is not as good as opera for windows.

Opera does have a lot of nice inventions, fullpage zoom, mice gesture etc. but Tabbed browsing isn't one of them. On mice gesture function, firefox's extension, IMHO, does it better now.

Opera also is the ONLY main browser on mac now that offers fullscreen mode, mozilla is working on it, but not ready for firefox 3 yet.

I use Camino over Safari because:

-More sites seem to work more of the time
-Even using SafariStand, clicking a link will often times doesn't open a new tab despite settings in Safari
-Doesn't hang or crash unexpectedly as much as Safari does (maybe it's just my comp.)
-Seems peppier to me

As for using Firefox over Camino, maybe I'm an idiot and haven't figured this out but in Firefox there is no menu for "next tab" or something similar so I cannot create a custom shortcut to change tabs. You have to use command-1, 2, 3, etc. and I like to use those for bookmarks. Pretty trivial but to me makes a big difference.

No mater how hard I try to switch to Safari from Camino, I just can't. It is fast and looks so.... friendly. :)

i didnt no this thread would attract a lot of people. Yeah safari seems to lag sometimes for instance when im loggin into sumthing or just filling out some fields and pressing enter. I've never had that happen to me on Camino. As for the Camino vs. Firefox, is FF3 beta actually good on the mac. When i tried it wen i had a pc...it sucked?

sorry if this is noobish, but what is camino -- looked it up and seems like a branch of mozilla? i use firefox and is there something wrong with using firefox on a mac?

thanks

Even my Opera fanboy self will admit that...I wish they'd allocate more into it, because I love it so goddamn much...

I disagree, but it's just a matter of preference :p

Woot.

I like how Safari looks, and now that they've added the double click to get new tab function I have no reason to use either Camino or FireFox.

That's an important feature for me... :D

I've tried Safari for about a month, Firefox for about 4 months and Camino the last month. Camino is a keeper, hands down. It loads pages much faster than Safari or Firefox - and it keeps me logged into Yahoo, unlike Firefox, which is a site I use the most.

I would pick camino over safari because I like the way it renders pages, but I use firefox because of the extensions.
By the way, that IE screenshot isn't very fair, I use firefox on my windows computer as well but the couple of times I used IE7 it didn't seem all that bad.

Camino has keyword shortcuts for tab groups. I don't believe the other browsers have it.

Just so I could form my own opinion I downloaded Camino. Then I deleted it.

Can't hide status bar
Site don't look any better in Camino
Can't drag tabs
big windows looking buttons

That after about 1 minute of use, though, I sure I can find other things not to like about it... but if it works for you, and you like it, the rock on with it...

You can hide the status bar with a Terminal command (but why would you want to? Status bar rulz!)

You can also use small buttons. Can't drag tabs though.

1 min isn't really fair for any browsers....

its a hard choice between firfox and opera for me

I always use camino. I decided to do a speed test one day. I timed the opening of all three web browsers I had. I cleared the caches, logged out, logged back in.

Safari-4.98 seconds

Log out

FireFox-3.42 seconds

Log Out

Camino-1.27 seconds

Case and point

Question: for someone like me who is in the construction business and a mac user (not web designer or anything some such), why do I need to see the status bar?

It has nothing to do with web designing, you can mouse over a link and see where it's going before you click it.
