This seems stupid... But are you one of those people who never turns their computer off? If so, restart ;) Its silly yes, but sometimes the simplest fixes don't occur to you :p

My MBP hasn't been turned off in like 3 weeks haha but if it acts up again i'll try that

I switched safari from 64 bit mode to 32 bit mode and the problem went away instantly, but im still using fire fox because im pissed off at safari.

Im still curious as to what was screwing with my MBP?

I'm using FF because I'm pissed off at Safari too. I used to swear by it because it was faster than Chrome even. But then it started to beachball all the time and make other applications sluggish even if I only have one tab open. Also, there's so much disk activity making the computer really slow and loud that stops immediately after I shut down Safari. I've even uninstalled Safari once because it pissed me off so badly. But I reinstalled it because it can read PDFs natively without downloading and also as a backup when FF or Chrome messes up. But honestly, I haven't opened Safari in months.

3 weeks? seriously? That can cause all kinds of performance problems... if you are serious you can't blame safari for acting weird...

I am a FF junkie and use it on all of my other machines, however, on my 2010 MBP 13", I've found that Safari uses far less resources and dramatically increases battery life while browsing (vs FF).

The only time I straight up "beachball" is when Engadget.com loads up...it's sad any way you slice it, for at work, we have ooolllddd XP machines with 2GB of RAM and they load 99.9% of sites instantly -- flash or no flash.
