Hey I work at best buy and yes we do try to sell protection plans and accessories but that's because its our job. If we don't make good numbers we get fired, simple as that. But we don't ever lie to a customer (at least I've never done that or seen it). Coming in to the store and messing up our sales just to get your jollies is some BS, how would you like it if I came into your place of work and ****ed up your ****?

Considering my work doesnt involve misinforming customers and taking advantage of people who don't know any better....

Like I said, no one at the best buy I work at ever lies to a customer. We don't work on commission so if somebody doesn't buy any accessories or a black tie I don't care. But I have to offer it to every customer that I talk to or I can get written up or fired. Do you honestly think we give a damn about if you buy it or not?

Nub Buy

Considering my work doesnt involve misinforming customers and taking advantage of people who don't know any better....

I can't tell you how many times I've been in Best Buy and heard their salespeople pull ridiculous statements regarding a computer's capabilities out of their a$$. Keep in mind, this was all overheard during ONE visit.

• To my shock and disbelief, the new iMacs have "Xenon processors". A Best Buy employee said it, so it has to be true! All that "Xenon" power in there and the Apple logo doesn't even glow....damn you, Steve!

• They tried to sell a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter to a unibody MacBook Pro owner

• To file share between a Mac and a PC, you need Parallels.

• "The Toshiba is faster and can do more cause it has more RAM" Celeron 1.8/3GB/4500MHD vs a white unibody MacBook. :: puke ::

On the other hand, my mom told me that the replacement earbuds for my 1st gen iPhone were problematic for her to get this Christmas. Apparently, two Apple Store salespersons directed her to eBay because Apple hasn't carried them for a "long time". Or, she could buy the 3G/GS headphones and lose some of the functionality.

...she ended up finding the correct earbuds for my 1st gen on the shelf herself.

This is a pretty large statement to make. It would entail one being with *every* employee of *every* minute of *every* work day. Once the hyper boil starts, where can it end?

Face certain facts. Not everyone is going to be as honest as you are, or you want to believe they are. Fear is a great motivator to "extend" the facts. Some call that lying; others call it embellishment. The difference, for me, is where it is done. Personal experiences, it is embellishment. Selling anything, it is lying because the person is mis-leading the customer to make a sale.

Yes, one has to do what the employer says or not work for that employer. But there are right and wrong ways to do the job and some folks at BestBuy may not do it in a customer friendly manner.

Take care,

salesmen at best buy = Thieves

It ain't any different than when you go to anywhere else. The extra protection plans are around because a lot of people do need them and use them.

There is more that the extra "warranty" covers other than the battery. Best buy's now also covers accidental damage.

I didn't know macs where also immune to accidental damage.....hmmm that Best Buy employee shouldn't have lied to customer and told him about the force field that deploys when a mac senses it is falling to ground.....

Or how about when he failed to tell the poor older "ignorant" customer how when lightning is coming down from the clouds it says to itself, "hmmm, i better go a different way it's a macbook down there, i'm better of finding a pc to strike."

Just because you may have been lucky so far, it does not mean one day you will not get burned and wish you would have bought the protection. It is only a matter of time.

And by the way, you don't have to wait until your Allmighty and decade lasting Mac battery is dead before you can take advantage of your battery replacement , you can get it anytime after a year. Oh, and guess what? You don't even need to send back your old one....cough cough!!! What! you mean you can keep both? and actually have 2 batteries? yes it does... So now, instead of a 5 hr battery or whatever, you got a backup for another 5hrs. Plus all the coverage for everything else...

So, you don't need to go an actually apologize to the Best Buy salesman, but you should know more about what you speak about before you go knocking down people trying to survive in this so called " depression".
