Is the screen part the same as last years MBA 13? Was hoping they have improved the viewing angles and colour quality of the 13" MBA this time around but can't find any info on this?

According to these specs:

http://www.apple.com/macbookair/specs.html

the screen resolution is higher on the 13" - you guys are saying the 11" has a better screen?
I've owned both, and definitely the display on the 11" has better colour and viewing angles. Of course the resolution is, as you say, better on the 13". (Though I think the 11" is more pixel dense due to size)

The real problem I had on the 13" MBA is coming from using a wonderfully colourful 13" MBP screen I like many found it washed out and was forever tilting the display to get it in the 'sweet spot'. If you could match the colours from the 13" MBP and the resolution of the 13" MBA the screen would be great.

If I recall correctly, there were two models of LCD panel used on the previous Air. I distinctly recall people discovering they had one model (the inferior one) and returning their Air to the store in an attempt to get the other model.

Yeah, I had the 'better' one, was still pretty awful.

I had that model Air for a week (before returning it) and the display was immensely superior to my current 2008 aluminum MacBook.

The increased pixel density and much better contrast are much easier on the eyes.

you are correct. The 11" air has the most PPI (pixels per inch) of any of the mac, aside from the retina.

I think it is 135 ppi, right? This is about the same as competitors like the Zenbook (138). I'd say it is pretty nice, even if my iPad is a bit better :)

I would have ordered a 13 MBA on this refresh by now if I could get past the cheap arse display.

It's the perfect laptop for me in most ways, but I know the experience will be soured by obsessive tilting of the screen to get it 'right'.

11" air is 135
13" air is 128
13" pro is 113
15" pro is 110 (1400 x 900)
15" pro is 128 (1680 x 1050)

retina is high as hell!

not much of a difference between the airs though

In what way? The colours and vertical viewing angles on the 13MBP screen is way better. I prefer the MBA as a whole, but the screen is definitely a cheaper quality part.
I have to agree with this. I just can't get the viewing angle to be comfortable on my 13" MBA. After a couple of weeks I pulled out my 2009 13" MBP and the differences are obvious.
