I cringe when I get asked for help with Samsung phones, and then those people go out a buy ANOTHER Samsung phone to replace the one that was not working! That's what I call "genius"!
Samsung in their home market is a totally different story from what it is in foreign market.
I don't receive good service from Apple store. However, I know where to go when my iPhone stops working, but whenever my galaxy breaks, I just buy another one cos it's cheap haha

so dumb

it is extremely rare to hit maximum theoretical download speeds.

just as much as apple preys on the non-tech crowd with their slick marketing naming conventions, samsung does the same with their 'tech crowd' by trying to whip up support through trivial benchmarks such as these

Well, Apple is not known for using the latest wireless chipsets. They have also severely restricted the Qualcomm chipsets. The wireless chipset is a crucial component of a smartphone but apple just hasn't cared to compete in this space. Their customer base doesn't seen to grasp the significance of this component.

I have an iPhone X and an s9 and the s9 typically gets double the speeds on T-mobile. Faster cellular speeds reduce lag, are better for the battery, and provided a better overall experience. The s9 can basically hit well over 1gb/s and can aggregate multiple frequencies and also has 4x4 MIMO.

You also have the fact that the Qualcomm Samsung handsets actually get better service. I'll have 1-2 bars of service with an s9 in locations where the $1k iPhone X has No Service.

Lucky you to have fast mobile internet in your zip code. Last time I check, I only reach 4-5 Mbps with Tmobile at my area (the avg. speed nation wide is 12 Mbps). Pop the sim card in my Note 8 and S8, still 4-5 Mpbs. With this pathetic speed, different modems do not make any difference.

That's why the latest chipset matters. An S9 supports 256 QAM, 4x4 MIMO, and 3 to 4 different frequency aggregation. Then you have the fact that they work with Tmobile's brand new 600MHz network. Combine all these and you have a lightning-fast cellular experience.

Which is why Tmobile was yet again ranked the fastest network in America. You just have to have a handset using the newest chipset to achieve these speeds. Apple has never been interested in wireless speed or coverage.

Read this article today that kind of confirms that they are kind of terrified of the X sales and how it’s affecting them and their bottom dollar so attacking Apple is like an animal backed in a corner

https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-history-887809/amp/

I guess they hit a new record where sales in quarter 2 are less than sales from quarter 1 and they sold 1 million units less than they should’ve hit in Q1.

Smartphone sales are down across the board, it's just apple has a different type of customer, particularly in the US.

Most people are over wasting up to $1k a year now on some marginally better phone and would rather spend their money on actual experiences instead of more crap from China.

I have BOTH Samsung S8+ and Apple iPhone X and they perform the same no matter where I go (maybe I'm just unlucky to live and work in extremely saturated zip codes for Tmobile). The network is so congested so the difference in modem does not matter. I assume most of the time it will be congested like that. That's why I say you are lucky to have fast LTE speed.

yeah, it's definitely dependent on your location.

Here is the latest report on speeds: https://opensignal.com/reports/2018/07/usa/state-of-the-mobile-network

That report shows aggregate data. Not very helpful and Tmobile has been very slow in my area for ages. They promise new towers and clear the congestion, still not very fast. Imagine sub 1 Mbps in download speed during lunch time while everyone is trying to stream or surf. Sprint is 6 times faster in my area for some reasons, and where I work, verizon doesn't get pass 1 bar.

Nobody is buying the pixel.

I think Jack was stalking Amy lol

Problem here is I think differences in Western and Asian cultures.

I was joking that’s why I said it was sarcasm. Second to say no one is buying the Google apixel 2 is false. Maybe they haven’t sold as many phones as Samsung that part is true. The fact that Samsung is out selling the Pixel 2 is more about brand recognition. Same reason why Apple sells tons of phones.

Love how Samsung schedules everything so they can bash apple right before a refresh. Plus 40% of 0.05seconds is irrelevant and if thats the best thing they can advertise against, it says a lot. They also didn't account for render time, download + render + ready time is what actually counts. Even though its such a small gap it doesnt really matter.

Funny how it doesn’t matter and no one can notice the difference in the real world and yet no one wants an iPhone with an intel modem if they can help it.

looks more to be about mobile service provider than the wireless chipset being used. very difficult to reach maximum download speeds as what the ad is toting.

It confirms nothing like that.
Samsung's mistake is that they made the regular S9 way less desirable than the more expensive S9+ and because of the fierce competition on the Android market Samsung simply can't match Apple's sales performance with the regular iphone 8 for example. That's why the "S9" is not doing great. But in the end this is also a good thing(I mean for us consumer, I don't care about Samsung, they are successful enough anyway) because the regular S10 most likely be a much more competitive phone than the S9.

From a technical stand point that the Snapdragon 835 has a better modem than any iphone so it's impossible to get the same performance no matter where you go or where you are. Qualcomms modes are especially better in crowded areas or at the edge of the cell tower antenna range so in situations where the signal is weak.

That does make sense, it seems it’s getting worse for Samsung.

Apple Takes U.S. Market Share From Samsung

“CIRP said that Apple's share of U.S. mobile phone activations grew year over year and that gain came "in part at Samsung's expense." Samsung's U.S. mobile phone activation share declined both sequentially as well as year over year.”

- The Motley Foolhttps://apple.news/AUVn5hV_1Qcy2EzJ6V5auZg

Guess all those reports about poor iPhone X sales were overblown.

Apple did not "make fun" of Windows. The Windows guy made fun (ie. a fool) of himself. Big difference. Go watch the ads again. To make fun of something is a deliberate act. Apple's Mac vs. PC ads merely pointed out provable facts.

Completely missed my point there but thanks. What I should have said was "Apple did it when they compared Apple to Microsoft in adverts that made Microsoft look foolish" but I was trying to not be dry.

You really believe that Samsung brings a phone to market which results in losses for the company?

Absolutely. Big companies often do this, especially when they're selling commoditized products. And beyond loss leaders, they're also taking generally lower margins across the board because their retail prices are less than compared iPhones.

This advert is true. Apple also doesn’t care Jack Squat about CA (Carrier Aggregation) permutations and combinations. You might get 2CA on iPhone X if god willing. Where as my friend’s S9 is always on 3CA and at times on 4CA if towers in those areas permit.

But here my iPhone EARFCN is always 0 or 1.
0 = No CA
1 = 2 CA
2 = 3 CA

Higher the CA, higher the speed. But Apple only cares about Hipsters who sit in CoffeeShop showing off their iDecices sipping away coffee and leeching free WiFi. Why do they even need Cellular connectivity?

What are iDecices?

WOW!!! so much hate to a company who employ so many people and create work and a livelihood for even more!! I simply must assume you must have created so much more and much better things in your life since you can come with a so well thought through comment towards one of the worlds most successful companies. Because I cannot imagine you are just another loser troll sharing faded ambitions there encountered the reality of being not more than a no-name person trying to get attention.

So when Apple makes jokes at Microsoft, regardless quite a few of them was pretty lame, then it is hysterically funny and classy. However, when somebody make a joke at Apple then it is pathetic....

Fun thing is the Apple fanboys hates Samsung, although there is a very good chance that the Apple products they use are made with Samsung components.... As to Apple they do not care who makes the components as long as they meet specs and is the best possible buy, there is an ongoing bidding on components and parts, it is all about making money. Apple would produce in North Korea if they could, but they cannot just yet, as it is all about low cost.

You got all of that from his comment? That’s not defensive at all.

This part of the post is representative of some of the nonsense posted online. “Apple fanboys hate Samsung” is some general made up statement that has no basis in reality. I do not “hate” Samsung, prefer Apple products. I like is better than android, I like iPhones better than galaxies etc.

Where there is much disagreement and hyperbole is where it is said android does x and iOS doesn’t (or vice versa) and therefore the o/s is crap. As if this applies or is needed by everybody.

Finally Samsung’s mobile phone division and fab plants are different businesses. Samsung wants apple’s billions in contracts at the same time they producing their own phones to compete with iPhone.

Has anyone considered that times and attitudes have changed, and what was once considered acceptable might no longer be deemed in good taste today?

It’s like saying “teachers used to be able to cane their students and make them kneel on bricks under the hot sun, so what’s wrong with trying to do it now?” Perhaps this sort of corporal punishment was once deemed acceptable, but with changing attitudes and outlooks on education, good luck getting away with such behaviour in today’s society.
