They're all acting the same

And i guess Apples lawyers deserve the same then?

They all do in many ways. We need the R&D departments to innovate & the lawyers to take a multi year vacation. Apple many times has shown that their lawyers are just as bad or worst than others. I guess Apple's legal department wants to stand out just like the rest of the company. Maybe they should innovate rather than sue.

More Samsung/Apple litigation, appeals, injunctions, etc.? Our tax dollars at work!
Actually, more like a portion of what you spend on Apple and Samsung products at work. Maybe we should all organize a boycott of both companies' products until they stop this nonsense.

I suspect that due to its close working relationship with Samsung, Apple would probably prefer to make up with Samsung and have both companies drop their respective legal actions, but I wonder if this would potentially affect Apple's ability to take actions against other companies it feels may be infringing on its IP.

Let's hope the two companies just kiss and make up. Not that that's likely to happen.

If Apple does get screwed over. We all get screwed over because Apple is the only company who innovates now a days. If Apple is stopped then we will be lingering in this era forever and all the other companies will continue to make their products look like the iphone 4 because they do not have the brain capacity or creativity to go further. They NEED Apple to design for them to copy. Terrible for everyone.

I like when people make this humorous monologues

What did Samsung expect when they duplicated the iPad and iPhone4 and now they are crying about it and want revenge?

That is like me kicking the queen, getting arrested. Break out of jail and go kick her again for revenge of her throwing me in jail. WTH lol Samsung you are very weird.

Larger screen

If Apple uses a larger screen on the iPone5 or whatever it is called should be sued because they are copying the many larger screened Android smart phones. If they don't use a larger screen then many of us should take our business elsewhere. It seems to be a lose-lose situation for Apple. But then most of the people here seem to think that Apple can do no wrong.

lol. So I guess Burger King should sue McDonalds because they made a Big Mac larger than their biggest burger?

And I thought that humans were born with a logical mind, not acquired.

Random information:

I wondered whether Samsungs dependency on Apple's orders would actually outmatch the revenue generated from Samsung's mobile sales: It does not. Apple spends around $8 billion a year on samsung parts, while samsung gets around $40 billion revenue a year from their mobile sales.

Then everyone(samsung etc) would get a slice of Apple's cake free of charge

I just wonder when samsung will update their horrible logo to the shape of Apple's. It can't be far off right? They have almost copied everything else

When did Samsung duplicated the iPhone 4?

FRAND: Samsung will encounter antitrust lawsuit.

Fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms (FRAND) are a licensing obligation that is often required by standard-setting organizations for members that participate in the standard-setting process. Standard-setting organizations are the industry groups that set common standards for a particular industry in order to ensure compatibility and interoperability of devices manufactured by different companies.

Standard-setting organizations include this obligation in their bylaws as a means of enhancing the pro-competitive character of their industry. They are intended to prevent members from engaging in licensing abuse based on the monopolistic advantage generated as a result of having their intellectual property rights included in the industry standards. Once an organization is offering a FRAND license they are required to offer that license to anyone, not necessarily members of the group.

Fair relates mainly to the underlying licensing terms. Drawing from anti-trust/competition law; fair terms means terms which are not anticompetitive and that would not be considered unlawful if imposed by a dominant firm in their relative market.

Reasonable refers mainly to the licensing rates.

Non-discriminatory relates to both the terms and the rates included in licensing agreements. As the name suggests this commitment requires that licensors treat each individual licensee in a similar manner. It does mean that the underlying licensing condition included in a licensing agreement must be the same regardless of the licensee.

So, Samsung's dream can not come true.

Well whatever happens, Samsung has lost overall. They lost their main revenue source because of their copycat ways and if they win this case they will lose their role model for a while too. How will Samsung afford to pay their lawyers then?? :O

why do some of you want Samsung to win?
I just don't get it.

I live in Hong Kong, and we used to have people playing Playstation portable, or Nintendo DS Lite on buses, trams, subways etc
now it's all iPhone/ipod Touch people are playing with / or checking news with their phones. This really IMPACTED people's daily lives.

Apple's iPhone (a smartphone that works) and iPad (a tablet that makes sense) really changed the game, and now Samsung is copying their products from iPhone to iPad, trying to penetrate that market WITHOUT much innovation??

Hell, even the Samsung Series 9 looks like a Macbook Air to me....... and none of Apple's "Macbook" line looks like a laptop made by Dell or Compaq in the old days.....

I would love to see Samsung really REVOLUTIONIZE a product, not just copying their design, switch some here and there configurations, and call it "OUR PRODUCT!"

I am on Apple's side.

Call me an Apple fanboy or whatever, I don't care.
But when I have a product I love and changed MY life too, then that company has my full support.

Oh one more thing. I don't HATE Samsung or anything.
I love their TVs. Their innovation in Television is really great. One of my relative just bought a Samsung LED HDTV 55", and it's awesome.

But Samsung needs to innovate!

Wonder if Samsung has some type of blank template and they just insert 'Apple Product X" any time something gets released by Apple.

Couldn't have said it better

I don't understand it either. I am an artist and when people try to steal my artwork to make cash from it I come down hard on them. Another thing I find very humorous is the fact that everyone was laughing at Apple when they released the iPad saying it was just a big tampon / toy and overpriced crap. Now everyone copies it. How many tablets like the iPad was there before Apple released it's iPad. Zero lol.

Poor old James Cameron didn't get his Avatar movie award because the evidence was too strong that he infringed the idea. Point in case

Samsung likes to talk big.

But they have yet to nail anything on Apple nor even defend itself against what Apple throws at it (e.g. injunction against Galaxy Tab in Germany) despite their boosting.

We will see.

That being said, if these are in fact legitimate patent violations, Apple put themselves in this position. Samsung didn't file suit against Apple a year and a half ago when the iPhone 4 came out, did they? No, yet they claim that device is in violation as well. Apple's been putting lots of pressure, some of which unwarranted, on Samsung, who, while separate from their mobile division, is a partner. That's just disrespectful.

Unless the iPhone 4 infringes with Samsung parts and the iPhone 5 has changed supplier?

How else would they know one way or the other if it wasn't from parts orders or lack thereof?

I think they took their scare tactics too far and Apple didn't fall for it.. Now they are in deep water lol. Can't wait for the Samsung TVs to go on insane sales when Samsung enters the verge of bankruptcy

Just out of curiosity I had a peek at Samsung's website. What a LOL it was. Perhaps they should spend their time and resources on dusting off the cobwebs with their online presence rather than trace Apple catalogs

Ok I am done here for today. Any Apple haters feel free to stop humiliating yourselves because I won't be around to answer!

I am a little more surprised that we have failed to mention one of the (I think) biggest reasons Samsung has decided to do this if in fact it is true. Apple has dropped them as their chip maker, and are going with TSMC. I think this is a big "**** you" to Apple from Samsung. I think it will just settle out of court, but you know Apple could just buy Samsung. :) and make them kaput.

Samsung is personally hurt. They wouldn't let Apple buy them out.
