Maybe but once the Apple Watch was even rumored they basically started producing watches and have released a new watch every other month on average. And the first ones were terrible. Just an attempt to throw as much crap as the wall as they can have a 'me first' proclamation in some dumb ad.

And I think it works against them in some ways. Can you imagine a first time tablet buyer trying to navigate Samsung's tablet line? They have so many different models and generations with similar names its impossible for the average person to digest their lineup. I've seen people who do tech journalism for a living stumble over the similar names and models.

It's way easier to get 'the new iPad'.

Their naming scheme and lineup of phones is better but the S4 and S5 was lackluster IMO, and even though I'm iPhone fan, the G3 and M8 were much better. The iPhone 6 only cemented in their loss of market share in the premium class of phones. Their response? Make a slightly different iPhone 6 with Touchwiz Android...which is really lame. Samsung Pay is just icing on the cake for the 'me too' way Samsung has ran their consumer electronics division.

All in all the competition is good for us, and although Im an Apple fan other companies doing their own thing and coming up with stuff to keep Apple on their toes is always welcome. Its good to see phones like the Moto X, G3, and such upping the game. Samsung has the resources to compete, and come up with their own brand and style yet I always feel their marketing makes up for a lot of lackluster internal innovation and design. The Note series is about all I can really say they've done something different, and innovated.

Belmont31R from ARFCOM?

Are you really asking that?

Yes, I'm so naive, correct? A quick glance at who is posting hard on this thread would have been answered my question ;)

now come on max, You dont need to resort to fanboy trolling, you're usually better than that!

but yeah, dissapointed in the S6. For some reason, despite having MORE than ever, it doesn't check as many boxes.

the S6 edge is somewhat unique and i'll wait till I get to fondle one before passing judgement,

but right now, if it comes down to a decision between, iPhone6 and S6, the iPhone6 is a better buy.

something about Samsung's S6 camera bump pisses me off. Like not just 'meh' or 'i find it ugly', but it's actually instilling anger in me for how poorly designed it looks.

Trolling ?
Last time I checked, this was an Apple centric forum, and I think every single Apple supporter can see and laugh at what Samsung is doing here.
They basically took off every single point they have advertised for years as their "advantage" over Apple's products, in a desperate attempt to save their market.
Suddenly SD cards support and removable batteries doesn't are important anymore.
Suddenly they have to "introduce" something curiously called Samsung pay.
Lol.

no one uses stock buds anyways

No one? And you did extensive research on that?

----------

You appear to be the biggest fanboy because you've posted in almost every page of this thread...defending Samsung...tooth and nail. I bet one third of the posts in this long thread are yours.

Think about all the time you have invested in this endeavour. These are not the actions of a normal person. What are you hoping to accomplish anyways? Are you here trying to convince a couple of people to buy Samsung phone? If that is the case, you better go to a site where people are on the fence when it comes to smartphone manufactures. In this site all you are really doing is wasting your time.

I know what you will reply...something about fighting for truth and justice...and about how you really don't care about Samsung...perhaps you will mention all the Apple devices you own and love.
I couldn't have written better.
A lot of "Apple user" defending Samsung in every thread they are put under a bad light. Oddly.

I admit I was also wrong about your line of thinking and agree with you.

I also don't like misinformation or hyperbole... But this is macrumors

A lot of comments about how bad macrumors is.... So why you are here? Seriously, are you under the impression you are any better than we poor mr members?

I think the curve part of the screen needs a dock that way you get the whole length of the screen for content.

Did I hit a nerve? Do you see yourself in that comment?

Your last comment comes off as defensive. At no time did I say or imply I was "better" than "poor" MR members.

Relax.

Samsung removed removable batters but gave you a new battery that can charge from 0-100 in 30 min.it is the fastest charging system in the world.

They also removed legacy SD cards and gave you a new memory architecture using a serial (sata) ata that is up to 11 times faster then the old nand in the gs5 and a heck of a lot faster then any cheap msd card.

They also gave base models 32gb storage.

Now if Samsung was trying to just go for profits they wouldn't spend 10 billion on a factory to produce this ultra fast memory and use it in there phones.

They would of stuck old school memory in there and used an old type lipo battery and called it a day.

I don't think you people are getting how fast this phone will charge.it has made removable batteries obsolete when a quick 10 min boost mid day will get you going all night and into the next day.

So suddenly SD cards becomes slow and unreliable ? Lol....

And fast charging means you still need an outlet to connect: no matter if it takes 30 mins or one hour and half.
Removable batteries already were obsolete, but Samsung's supporters didn't admit that. Now they clearly are....

I already asked you once but do you have a source for this? Everyone else I saw said 0-50% is 30 minutes but you keep saying otherwise. I am thinking it's 0-50% but I was curious if those other sites are mistaken.

you do realize this charges almost an hour and a,half faster then the iPhone 6 plus right?

And when we get ssd micro SD cards I'm sure Samsung will add ufs support to there phones

Well, I don't think anyone is saying that Samsung got rid of the SD card and removable battery and replaced them with some sort of crap technology...but in the end they did remove the SD card and the removable battery. Also, their new design looks a lot like the iPhone 6.

No waterproofing...non-removable battery...no memory expansion......a design that looks very similar to the iPhone. What the hell were they thinking? Everything that made a Samsung phone a Samsung phone is now pretty much gone.

If they could not compete with the iPhone with something different -- but just as good, and in some ways better -- how in the world are they going to take on Apple with something that is basically an iPhone clone? Everything about the new S6 screams "Me too, Me too".

Am I the only one that thinks the gs6 looks nothing like an iphone? Aside from speaker holes they are completely different and the galaxy alpha uses the octa core and also got rid of the SD card slot.

Stop trying to put this as a reason to compete with apple.they are introducing new architectures to mobile phones and has nothing to do with apple.

They went with sata memory interface to speed the phone up and spent billions on it and would not let an old SD card cluster it up trying to load 4k videos off it and people complain that the galory lags.

Googling leads me to believe that it's 0-50% in 30 minutes. Verizon has it on their S6 information page. Might want to correct the information you keep repeating señor unless you have a source.

Did you realize you still need an outlet ? Good luck on a beach, in a wood or while on the go.....

The point Samsung's apologists made was that when you are out of juice you would just swap a fresh charged battery. I always laughed at this, because I don't know anyone carrying around a battery, but what amused me is that today replaceable batteries aren't important anymore. Lol. :D

The note 4 does that in 30 min

Note 4 takes over one hour and half to fully charge.
Btw fast charging also affect battery life.... a non replaceable battery.

LOL. The S6 uses octa core...therefore they S6 and the iPhone are nothing alike.

Okay...I'll stop. Well, you (and Samsung) better start praying that this new architectures will convince people to buy their phones. The architectures they incorporated into the S5 were basically ignored by consumers.

I bet Samsung fans wrote about all those juicy technical specs when the S5 first came out...and yet the S5 was basically ignored by consumers. Oh well, c'est la vie.

In any case, thats too fast, it will affect the cycle life of the battery. A 2 hour full charge is the fastest that the battery should be charged. In essence they reduced cost, took away a feature, and covered that with a feature that will reduce the battery life cycle.

They are alike. Ignore synthetic benchmarks, look at the real world. If I had a 2 litre Ferrari, I'd need a 5 litre standard V8 to compete. The former is custom built, the latter is off the shelf. Same with the iPhone CPU/GPU, its an SoC built just for one set of hardware and one OS. The others are like PC's, many types of hardware, and there are many types of Android, so its a generic CPU/GPU

Yep. And of every 100 potential buyers, who amongst them ask the store about the architecture?? Its about, whats the price??? Got pink??? My friend has one, I'll take it thanks.

The S5 actually got a luke warm reception, many went elsewhere, HTC, Lumia, etc. Underwhelming was the standard phrase. iPhones get that too, but after months of rumours, and heightened expectation, which makes a good phone underwhelming. S6 success will be about price. Which means the more it sells the more losses made.

Don't forget price. The "general consensus" (sorry I had to )from Samsung users was that the iPhone is overpriced.

Now that there's rumors the s6 may be more expensive than the iPhone, those same users are saying the price is fine.

Oh and that wasn't a typo above, it's the EXACT same users. Don't ask me for proof though!!

All kidding aside, the real joke in all this is Samsung and their 180 after their silly next big thing crap.

Where did you get that data that is should take 2 hrs. ?

I had a lengthy discussion with a battery expert here (NZ) a few weeks back. He went over my head tech wise, but he explained how batteries work, and that fast charging is detrimental to the life cycle. Slow is better. Very slow is even better, but 2 hours is a good mix between battery life and convenience. So, nothing official, which some here may complain about, but there it is.

I believe this is true. Most fast charge technology slows down the closer to full you get as well, probably to avoid damage.

Not sure where anyone is getting stats from. only thign I can find about the S6 battery charging is that a Samsung claims to charge to full in 1/2 the time the iphone6.

since they haven't yet shown any empirical evidence of this, i"ll wait till i see it before I make that claim.

Lithium based batteries suffers from high temperatures, and fast charging causes high temperatures.

Unbelievable, huh?

Samsung Fan From the Past:
"Apple sucks because they are too expensive. The iPhone is way overpriced for what you get"

Samsung Fan From the Present:
"Samsung phones are priced just right - you get what you paid for"

Samsung Fan From the Past:
"The iPhone sucks because of limited storage"

Samsung Fan From the Present:
"Removing the SD slot is a great idea. The base S6 starts at 32GB while the iPhone starts at 16GB - what a great win for Samsung"

Samsung Fan From the Past:
"Haha, iPhone users are forced to hug outlets. I can just change my battery."

Samsung Fan From the Present:
"I can charge my phone magically without wires or electricity. Removable batteries are so overrated"

Again, it's almost certainly not the same people contradicting themselves, but Samsung as a company is definitely pretty hilarious with their 180.
