Here is the Comparison:

Like 95% of iPhone customers would ever look at this chart. The iPhone's strongest selling point is that it is the iPhone and it is "the in" phone to have. As long as you have that reputation I'd say Apple doesn't have to worry about doing too much to the next revision. People will line up for it regardless of what they launch.

This is not mind-blowing as your TV has a very low resolution (PPI) screen.

Resolution and PPI are not the same thing. The PPI (pixels per inch) of a TV is lower because the screen is bigger. But the Resolution (number of pixels being displayed) is the same on both of them- 1920 x 1080. That, to me, is mind-blowing since this phone has a much smaller screen than most TVs.

I know people say that the higher PPI doesn't matter since your eye can't tell the difference, but one advantage I see here, is if you do video-out to a TV, the image you see on the TV from across the room will look just as good as the one you see on your phone. That could be really cool for showing pictures or videos to a group of people...

There are quite a few delusional Apple stans in here. This phone is an upgrade from the Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5 in my opinion. Apple might as well skip the "s" edition this year and go back to the drawing board. I'm sorry but a spec bump and the same tired 4" screen just won't cut it this year.

I'm honestly not taking sides here, but... all the people that complained about the design similarities between the iPhone 4 and 5... :p

I remember reading several times that most Chinese and Korean companies use services of agencies that spam forums and blogs.

Reading these comments... sadly many of them smell rotten to me... they look like uninspired paid-for spam made by those agencies...

I'm afraid that I'll probably stop reading comments at all - it looks like a few interesting comments are buried in a sea of pro-Android spam.

That's the feeling I get. These pro-android comments seem fake/trollish to me, especially when thet come from accounts that have been created very recently.

Haha... care to give any facts to back this up?

AMOLED can't produce accurate colors and is lousy in daylight. Pen tile can't support proper font smoothing. But. It is "the best screen evar". And an albatross is better than an eagle?

I'm the first one to jump on the Anti-PenTile bandwagon, but it's only really a problem on my S3 when I look too closely at it, and while I'll be reserving judgement for when I see the S4 in person, I don't think it'll be an issue on a 1080x1920 display.

As for colour reproduction, I like the AMOLED saturation. It makes colours pop and feel far more vibrant. When I look at a One X or an iPhone 5, the colours look too washed out to me. Also, Samsung handsets have Screen Mode options, in which you can change the display calibration to be more like an LCD.

Do you really believe what you just wrote?

Although this is an Apple forum people can still have positive opinions about a non apple product.

Did you read the article? Do you realize you could post a picture of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 in a way that they look the same? Do you realize you can post a picture of the 2011 imac and the 2012 imac and they look the same? Com on. Its different and if you don't know how, READ THE SPECS!

Oh yes, you caught me, I was trying to play a trick by posting the pictures so that they would look similar  The S4 might as well be called the S3s.

This is utter bs. It used to be true, but just isn't anymore. Long time iPhone owner (have an i5 atm) and I can assure that my Nexus 7 is just as responsive...in fact more responsive thanks to the crappy touch sensitivity of the i5.

Uh I have both as well and you are full if crap buddy. Nexus 7 is many things, but responsive is not one of them. The screen of my 5 is able to pick up everything I tell it to though.

No need for a camera? Really?

Did you take a class on writing blurbs for book jackets?

But then, I'm an old coot who didn't understand why I needed a camera on my phone.

I'm an old coot as well and I use my IP5 camera all the time: photos of the grandkids, screen captures and many other uses....both still and moving.

BTW, I hate ...and have hated the iphone screen size since the beginning because, being an old coot, i can't see a phoque-ing thing on it unless I have my readers on. But I do like the OS...jail-broken of course.

Screen is a full inch larger than the iPhone 5's and only 18 grams heavier. Apple really needs to unleash a 5" model sooner than later. My guess is that they will by 2014.

Enjoy sending your phone back by snail mail and waiting for several weeks/months while they fix it. I enjoy walking into the Apple Store with a broken iPhone and walking out with a new/refurbished one. Have done that several times since 2007.

The fact you've walked into an Apple store many-a-time to replace a broken iPhone is surely an attestation to the iPhone's poor build quality - otherwise you wouldn't have to replace them so often!

:apple: "They're so easy to replace when they break, and boy do they break!" :apple:

For me, I have had four Android phones and have not yet had to replace one, despite numerous drops and moments of clumsiness on my part.

As a heavy Nexus 7 user, I've had a pretty responsive experience. It does get slow every once in a while, but so did my iPod touch 4 back in the day. However, this is half the price with twice the screen, so I call it a win.

wow

apple would get so much crap from samsung fanboys but they've gotta get in on those camera features

You've never had a problem with one of your Android phones? Well I guess Android phones simply don't break then! I guess Samsung, HTC, and Motorola can go ahead and shutter their customer service departments.

Meanwhile I'll continue to enjoy the secure feeling that if anything goes wrong I can just get a new phone, for free.

Yup, dropped my iPod touch 2 feet and it cracked most of the screen. I commonly throw my Nexus 7 around and it is right as rain. That's very anecdotal, but I'm super impressed with the Nexus' durability. I have not treated it well with falls.

Can you please explain to me the "turn over to mute feature" is it for all audio? I play music on my phone and like to keep it screen side down (back facing up)

Every single one of the S3 S motion features works great, i have no clue what you are talking about, have you actually tried using an S3 for more than 15 seconds?

Direct Call (if you are txting, just put your phone up to your ear to call the person)
Tap to Top
Tilt to Zoom
Panning (ok this one works but its maybe tricky to some to master)
Shake to update
Turn Over to Mute (i use this ALL THE TIME)
Palm Swipe Capture
Palm Touch Mute

Just like to add that if you want to know how much of a weight difference that is, a CD is 15 grams. Which is to say there is not really a weight difference.

What's the point?

If the iPhone's 326 pixels per inch is Retina Display (meaning you cannot see individual pixels with the naked eye), why is there an advantage to having 441 pip? Seems like a waste of GPU power for no noticeable improvement.

Movies appear to be continuous motion at 24 frames per second. There is really very little evidence that anyone can notice the difference at higher frame rates. When hardware can perform better than people can detect, it seems like a waste of resources.

I also heard of the higher number of pixels on the camera, but I didn't hear that the optics have changed. More pixels without improved optics is a waste of storage space without a significant improvement in quality. Looks like Samsung laid an egg tonight.

Because 326ppi on a 5 inch screen looks gross. 326 ppi is fine for a 3.5 inch screen, even 4 inches at a stretch.

But 441 looks amazing on 4.7-5" displays.

It's a pretty well-known fact that certain companies pay people to spam forums to spread FUD. It's been happening for well over a decade now.

Both, but only with Samsung apps. So if you use Google Music then you don't need to worry about it.

Now waiting for the incremental iPhone 5S in 6 months, still featuring a dual core CPU when the rest of the world has movied on to quad core.
You do realise that depending on the chip, a dual core may be more powerful than a quad core? This is further amplified by how well the phone uses the cores. Is there anything about the iPhone 5 that feels slow?
