I hate to admit it...

Samsung is right on this one. The battery in the iPhone really sucks, especially when cell service isn't perfect. As I type this my Usage is 2 hours 10 minutes with 5 hours 6 minutes Standby and my battery is already 50%...worse part is if I leave my phone overnight unplugged, its empty the next morning even without any usage. Apple needs to cut the thinner-crap and focus on battery.

Another interesting point is the commercial, how much more simple and informative this samsung commercial is compared to Apples artsy fartsy stuff, no wonder the marketing impact of apples has plummeted. Go back to bashing the competition, pointing out why your product is better, its simple and it works.

With so many factors to choose from I almost forgot to say most people spent most of the day using their iPhones than Sansungs. Cheap blow SAMESUNG a bit worried about the upcoming iPhone 6. Why not compare two recent phones. HTC ONE M8 n Yours.

Funny, because I actually am a wall hugger with my iPhone. Still wouldn't switch devices though, iOS is my favorite.

In my experience, everybody is a wall hugger.

I've had 2 iPhones, a Motorola phone, and a Samsung phone, and each one really doesn't have that much varying battery. I will admit right now my Moto X is showing the best battery life lasting pretty much from wake up to sleep (so around 10 hours) without having to be plugged in once, but that's not even close to the promised "48 hours".

It all comes down to how much you make your phone work. It's really not something you can quantify. Some people make their Galaxies last all day and night and iPhone users drain within a few hours, but sometimes it's the Galaxy owners tethered to the wall while the iPhone owners are kicking all day.

It's just another false advertisement based on subjective bias.

There is no excuse for anyone--regardless of phone--to be a wall hugger. Rechargeable battery packs are extremely affordable and come in all kinds of capacities. I've used those for years with both iPhones and Android devices and my devices keep going, and going, and going...

I have one of those! Just got one recently and I don't know how I ever lived without it. Great for when you're out and about and there's no plug around. The one I got can charge my iPhone 5 times

My reason for saying "slightly bigger" is for a comparison with battery. Battery in S5 is twice as powerful, however screen is not twice as big. Thus the word "slightly". Got it?

You have to look at what makes up the screen too. More pixels = heavier battery use.

Very well said and I'd rather have the same 5s thickness too, filling the new added width & height with battery. The "thinnest iPhone ever" spin is nice for Apple marketing. Meaningfully more battery life is nice for every single iPhone 6 buyer. At least for myself, the 5s thinness is plenty thin. I don't really see anyone griping about the onerous thickness of the 5s anywhere.

So given a choice of even thinner or a good deal more battery life, my choice is very simple. However, I suspect Apple will go the other way. Spinning "thin" is a repetitive marketing bullet for Apple product launches. Adding some battery will add a little bit of unit cost to every iPhone. The first costs Apple nothing. The latter costs something.

The ad is a gross misrepresentation of the iPhone in terms of battery life and usage. The ad is a misrepresentation of the products battery life as it fails to point out resources that are shut down to preserve it.

----------

I'm amazed at how many fanboys and Apple apologists there are out there.

Like most ads, it's effective because it has enough accuracy to strike a nerve. I call BS on all the people on here claiming they easily get a day (or more) use on their phone with normal activity. I love my iPhone as much as anyone...but I'm honest enough to admit the battery life is disappointing.

Most iPhone users I know I have a charger in their car and at work knowing full well their phone isn't going to make it through the day. And you can't go through any airport without seeing people clamoring around outlets charging up devices. Now you can argue that all smartphones eat batteries...but the image of people worrying about keeping their iPhone charged is something you see in real life.

Rather than knee-jerk bashing Samsung, you'd hope Apple fans would agree and put pressure on Apple to address it. There's all this talk about the iPhone 6 being 'thinner'....I'd MUCH rather have it be the same thickness and significantly better battery than the same performance as the 5/5S.

The ad is a gross misrepresentation of the iPhone in terms of battery life and usage. The ad is a misrepresentation of the products battery life as it fails to point out resources that are shut down to preserve it. I agree about retaining the thickness of the 5S as it's about right in terms of weight and feel in the hand.

My iPhone 5s, brand new gets so hot it turns itself off in the sun at the beach.

I love the performance of the iPhone 5s & it's A7 chip & I'm ok with battery life. I'm more worried about it catching fire! LOL

OH, and my APPLE BRANDED power cable says it's not Apple approved still just today, but it came INSIDE THE DAMN BOX! LOL

oh sooooo true, truth is sweet and bitter too?

it is true though at every terminal i go to all the iUsers and OS X headz are all hogging the outlets and huddled together hahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!!!

so annoying.

love you all.

With the portable power chargers I've used, you can leave them attached to an iPhone while you're talking on it and it will keep the phone's battery from discharging further, because it's charging at least as quickly as you're using it up.

So you don't have to wait 2 hours before your phone is ready to use again with one. The R/C car analogy isn't really appropriate because you can't race R/C cars or fly R/C aircraft while they're still attached to a charging cord. That's not a big deal for a phone, as long as your cable is long enough to go from the phone to a pocket or bag you've got the charger in.

Well some people like wires and some people do not. I tend to agree with the later.
And by the way, have you ever heard of an external battery charger? You can race R/C and charge at the same time. Same principle with the Note 3 external charger and spare batteries. You never have to connect to the wall again. Just keep a battery in the charger and swap it out on a daily basis. Pretty basic.

I never understood this marketing narrative: "Hey, users of a competitive device! Look here! You're a bunch of monkey turds! Now look at our product! Don't you want to buy it?"

Um, no.
How does this post not have 1000 up votes? Samsung is moronic to go after users.

I can see your point, but unfortunately that's my own experience and I trust what I have experienced. Unless:
1. There are anomalies on my particular phones
2. You are accusing me a liar

Which I doubt on both occassion. Am I right?

Then where's your proof? Where's your data? There's plenty of people here that agree that iPhone battery life sucks. Don't you want Apple to do something about it in future iPhones or do you want the same crappy battery life? Samsung has made great improvements from the awful battery life of the Verizon Nexus to the S3, to the S4 and now the S5. Samsung paid attention to the criticisms.

People keep making the point Samsung bashing Apple enthusiasts is a mistake. It's not. The people who will be offended by these ads would never buy a Samsung phone anyway, because they have great taste and are loyal to the iOS ecosystem. But Samsung gets a lot of credibility from those who hate Apple, hate our community, and they can still pickup iPhone users who aren't heavily invested in iOS, Mac and iTunes / App Store purchases.

I hate Samsung but I think some of their ad campaigns have been very clever if not at all classy.

Well, just got up and realised that I hadn't plugged my iPhone 5S last night, battery is at 27% and that has been since it took it off the charger yesterday morning at 630am (it's now 740am a day later). 7hrs 38mins usage and I have 6 push email accounts setup on the phone and never turn off 3G, Bluetooth or wifi.

If you really have to have 3 days battery life just turn off data and email, you easily get 3-4 days wih an iPhone.

apples battery life sucks. but it wasn't always that way. when the iphone 4 came out, i could almost reach two or one day with a lot of usage with one charge. but the software got more power hungry but the battery didn't follow that trend...

If you could do two days you were doing anything but "a lot" of usage. Heck, even if you could do a full 24 hours, you were hardly doing anything at all, on any iPhone ever made.

Funny Commercial. This only thing is, its not true. I have used an iPhone for many years and have never been a "wall hugger" and I never will be. Just Turn down the brightness and you'll be fine. :) :apple:

I'll admit to doing it once or twice while in an airport.
Then again may be my battery wasn't so bad and I just wanted an excuse to sit away from the boss while waiting in the airport.

It's also not true as I've just as many Samsung customers doing exactly the same thing. Are they saying their own previous product was a fail?

Go to the store, they will replace it for you for free... The chip must be damaged..

My iPhone 5s, brand new gets so hot it turns itself off in the sun at the beach.

Doesn't really affect me as I drive most places, so I plug it into the head unit reguardless of battery level so I have my tunes when driving!
