Nope. I don't like Samsung and if you think I'm alone in this then you obviously don't read these forums very widely. Having a negative view of Samsung, their practices and their components equalling troll would mean MacRumors has a large number of regular trolls who have posted millions of messages collectively.

I might understand not liking Samsung for their business practices, but I fail to understand how one can claim that the components they manufacture are of inferior quality (excluding ignorace or intellectual dishonesty).

I wish Apple would spend less money on buying companies that are primarily brands rather than producers of technology (i.e. Beats), and more on technologies that reduce their dependence on companies that are trying to eat its lunch.

I know that Cook is currently preoccupied with trying to win over the world's approval with solar power plants, and that he wants no one to think that he would ever do something that would advance Apple's interests at the expense of someone else's.

But would it really kill him to get the ability to build a few displays? Aren't they the largest single maker of things that show pixels in the world, for chrisake?

Apple is not innovative enough to think inside the box. They would rather buy services from others instead of innovate from the ground up.

Your "opinion" regarding Samsung and this forum have zero effect on the business relationship between Apple and Samsung. Any hate against an IT-company is rather pointless. Some people have better things to do.

Nope. I don't like Samsung
that's your right...
and if you think I'm alone in this then you obviously don't read these forums very widely.
I don't think anyone who reads this forum regularly can be blind to the fact of widespread dislike of samsung around here...
Having a negative view of Samsung,
ok
their practices and
ok
their components
considering own experience and the exchange hype mentioned in post #15, and the restrictions on deliverable units without samsung components...
...yeah that's at least hypocritical but much more likely
equalling troll

and that...
MacRumors has a large number of regular trolls who have posted millions of messages collectively.
...seems to be an obvious fact, not a question.

You don't like Samsung because of their practices. Let me give you some background on the company you love so much Apple.

in 1968 a Company called Apple Corporation was started by four guys John, Paul, George and Ringo collectively known as the Beatles to record music and the name was trademarked. In 1978 another company was started in a garage by a guy called Steve and he also called it Apple. Apple Corporation sued Apple and won a bunch of money and as part of the settlement it was agreed that while they could continue using the name to make computers they must never get in the Music business.

Eventually an Ipod is created and even a music store in fragrant disregard for the original legal agreement. Another law suit is launched by Apple corporation in 1991 and guess what they win again and Apple has to pay many millions but again as part of the settlement they get a limited agreement to enter the music business. Of course they disregard that agreement and end up in Court again in 2003 and lost again with some more $$$ changing hands.

So what do you think of these Business practices are they above reproach. Everyone pushes the envelope.

Many people here dislike Samsung's business practices and their consumer products, but few fail to recognize their importance and expertise when it comes to manufacturing components.
Samsung has a proven track record of consistently delivering the highest quality components and is the only company in the world that can do it in the quantities Apple needs.
For you to call it inferior technology just because you don't like the company means you're either a troll or just biased and ignorant.

Except Samsung's displays, memory, and SSDs used in many generations of Apple products did not cause them to be inferior.

Need we be reminded how many people went on exchange sprees trying to get a Retina MacBook Pro with a Samsung display because LG's screens had problems and were inferior?

I picked up a 128gb iPad Air on verizon and returned it after a week and replaced it with a retina MacBook Pro. My two cents is whoever made the iPad Air display makes junk. Viewing angle for colors was rubbish on the iPad Air and any minor shift of 5 degrees from direct viewing resulted in yellowing of whites. My iPhone 5s does it too, however you don't have nearly the screen real estate that the iPad Air does so it's not nearly offensive in this implementation. My retina MacBook Pro does not have this issue, I wish there was pro versions of the iOS ecosystem for people who expect more from their devices.

Actually people want Samsung displays in their apple products, just head over to the MBP forum and you see people returning the MBPs that have LG displays.

You may hate Samsung but they produce great SSDs and Display panels and other things.

It's great for Samsung to produce components fulfilling Apple quality expectations. Nothing wrong with it.
Good for Samsung, good for Apple, good for me as user of Apple products, too.

And the other "disputes" I just see as entertainment.

The only downside is that apple shouldn't rely on a single source in case something happens to that source, but with samsung being a huge supplier, they're probably the only ones able to keep pace with Apple's needs.

Apple actually got them for free after rebate.

well, not so much a rebate as a patent lawsuit win.

Wow! Providing support for the very same company that you're suing for plagiarizing you, seems like a brilliant idea.

I don't have a problem with Apple using Samsung parts as long as those parts have no software in them and don't run Android. Hardware is all good.

Why exactly do you care?

I am happy for Apple to use whatever they decide to as long as it gives me the best user experience at the best possible price.

However they achieve that (as long as it is legal) then I couldn't care less.

I didn't Tim Cook posted here.

Tim Cook posts all over these forums. With all his expectations and certainties he says here.

/sarcasm

It's more like people who think they know what is happening at Apple better than Tim Cook. A lot of these kind of people here. And it's super easy to ignore what they say. We don't need more "Apple is expected to do or release XXX".

The Onion does this better. At least the Onion is funny at times.

And yet, some people still think Apple is going to build (yeah, "build") a Television Set.

Lots of people still believe this. Even though all the pointers are to say Apple will not do this in the near future. People just want what they want and will spin any rumour they find so it agrees with their wants.

Apple has clearly been the most innovative and influential company in the history of consumer electronics and even computing as well.

However, since Jobs died they have been lost. Their current CEO is more interested in feel-good political correctness and convincing the world his company is good for the planet, than he is about ensuring the company's future. It wonderful to care about the environment and all the poor people in the world. That might sound facetious but I'm actually being serious. It's great. But it's all for nothing once your competition has consumed your lunch and you are a has-been symbol of failure.

Cook seems to feel bad and guilty that Apple was so successful. He's doing a good job of making sure that gets undone.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
haha... oh how I wonder how many of the many many many many hateful and racist comments towards Samsung posted on this site were made by posters on here using a Samsung screen iPad hahahaha...

The hypocrisy on Mac Rumors truly has no limits.

You lot should be damn grateful for Samsung, because the iPad's screens, bar the mini, are damn good.
