Samsung has a big advantage

in that they have OLED screen technology. For a watch, OLED is absolutely necessary because with OLED, the watch can actually keep display always on. With a black background and displaying just four digits, the power consumption will be very low. This is impossible to do with LCD panels. Perhaps Apple is working with LG to get OLED panels from them (they were working on OLED for TVs).

Support US based Company's - Apple is a US Company although they do make stuff in china but it is still a US Company - As Apple Moves Jobs back to the Americas it is more important then ever to support them. Enough of the cheap Korea and Asian Junk that is flooding our markets. If Samsung wins over Apple we will lost another company to the Asians. I am planning to boycott all Samsung items and hope others follow. IT is time for us to take back our company's and let them know we support them. Samsung and others seem to wait till someone else innovates and they copy making a sim product and sell for half the price. I refuse to buy any samsung TV or electronic devices.

I love reading the comments on MR and I rarely comment. But this? Please tell me you're being sarcastic. Please. But if you are serious, does this mean you're going to give up your Apple products? You can't boycott Samsung and purchase Apple.

I too am a working man, but i also invest in the finer things in life. Rather than spending money on cheap beer and stupid investments, I purchase well crafted fine timepieces. I plan on leaving something for my children that they can cherish and pass on to their children. Because unfortunately once you die and you've left nothing, you will be most likely forgotten. I would strongly suggest you take a look and see what you waste your money on, and try to maybe make some more sound investments, i don't care if you're a working man, that is no excuse. You are a perfect example of what has happen to society...
Beer? No, and the "finer things in life" are all too often ephemeral. I would suggest you wander through an antique store sometime. They are full of "cherished" items that lost their meaning after a generation or two. My investments are more substantial. I'll be remembered for the kids I've helped raise, not the trinkets and gelt I leave behind. The young people in my life received an education, a view of the world, a way of thinking. That's what they will remember me for. I'll be remembered for the houses that I left in better shape than when I moved in. The writing, and art, and theater, and videos I produced. The students I taught. The things I made with my hands and my brain. That's what I'll be remembered for. Not any glittery mass produced finery I horded. My library is very good and will go to a school. My paintings will be donated. Other assets will go to various charities. My family has already gotten what they are going to get. Far from being an "example of what has happened to society" I suspect society would be better off with more of me around.

Here's a nice watch I just received from a potential vendor! It's a walkie-talkie watch! Maybe Samsung and Apple can get some ideas from it. It uses 3 AAA batteries.

As it shows Apple is moving away from the need to samsung parts - It buys its own chip maker in Israel it is a matter of time before they can make there own parts in house - but the more apple moves away from samsung the better. I could turn that to say Samsung branded products -

Is this a yes or a no?

Nothing beats what Samsung has to say about these things! But hey, they were working on the watch product – got it all wrong (naturally) and are now waiting for their leader (Apple) to show them a way.

Forget the TV, the Apple Smartwatch is going to be the next big think. It's perfect for Apple and its customers:

1. Ties users to the iPhone
2. Margins on top end watches are huge
3. People have the same personal connection with their watch as their mobile
4. Would revolutionise the watch industry and create max publicity for Apple
5. Adds another revenue model for developers encourages them to stick with iOS
6. It's a mass market worldwide product just like the other iOS devices

Unlike the TV which would be a slow burner given the inevitable high price points, the iWatch could sell for a few hundred dollars with a very healthy margin and Apple would shift them so fast they probably won't be able to keep up.

Lol, everything goes as expected. Samsung has been working on a watch for years, yet somehow they are stealing? Wow, fanboys have hit a new low!

Bloomberg reports that Samsung has confirmed last month's rumors that it is working on a smart watch. With rumors of Apple working on its own "iWatch" project for launch as soon as later this year, it appears that the two rivals will be be going head-to-head yet again as the battle over mobile devices widens. The report notes that Samsung may be able to offer a pricing advantage over Apple given that it controls its own chip and display production, undoubtedly two of the highest-cost components of a smart watch.

Apple has been reported to have 100 product designers working on its smart watch project, toying with curved glass and considering such features as biosensors and mapping functionality. The watch will also reportedly run a "full" version of iOS, making for easier integration and developer access. Battery life is said to be a challenge for Apple, however, with current prototypes lasting only about two days between charges, roughly half of Apple's goal.

FYP:

Samsung confirms working on every kind of product Apple is working on too :D

Smart. Confirm on an ongoing project before Apple, so that they can't be sued when apple would actually launch the iwatch. :D

And I'll laugh my balls out if "iWatch" turns out to be a TV or some other product line... :D:D

I've said it once and I'll say it again.

The Sony Ericsson smart watch MBW 150 was awesome and I still use it on a daily basis. It was too expensive though.

They need the right price and the right materials. Plus if everyone gets a smart watch the novelty will die... Ive had the terrible live view and everyone loved it but I m the only person I know to ever have a smart watch and I'd prefer to keep it that way!

If by development, you mean waiting until Apple develops theirs for ideas :D

Right, because Apple is gonna be the first to build a smart watch. It's already been done and most recently by pebble. Everyone needs to get over all this apple vs crap and just be happy with what choice they make. Everyone copies each other so statements like yours getting old.

So now they're even copying Apple's rumours?! Waiting to see Apple's then quickly copying it no doubt.
