It sounds like many here think Samsung copied Apple on a product that Apple hasn't even announced.

+1!!!!!
You know it! Sammy is going to wait until Apple drops their watch and the associated ads, then they will jump on the flipping bandwagon.
Samsung has already built and sold more "smart watches" than Apple has.
So it looks like it is Apple that is jumping on the bandwagon.

Sounds like many here are simply joking that history will repeat itself.

Samsung has already built and sold more "smart watches" than Apple has.
So it looks like it is Apple that is jumping on the bandwagon.

And they have such confidence in their design that they are marketing it all over the world! Oh, wait. They are actually confirming that they are working on a smartphone project. Almost like they don't already have one on the market.

Samsung must be one of those Apple fanboys that just pretend that prior products don't exist. :D

Casio should sue!

The marketing tagline is great: "Ever unsure just how much to tip your server at a restaurant? With this 8-digit calculator watch, you can do so with confidence."

Bloomberg reports that Samsung has confirmed last month's rumors that it is working on a smart watch. With rumors of Apple working on its own "iWatch" project for launch as soon as later this year, it appears that the two rivals will be be going head-to-head yet again as the battle over mobile devices widens. The report notes that Samsung may be able to offer a pricing advantage over Apple given that it controls its own chip and display production, undoubtedly two of the highest-cost components of a smart watch.

Apple has been reported to have 100 product designers working on its smart watch project, toying with curved glass and considering such features as biosensors and mapping functionality. The watch will also reportedly run a "full" version of iOS, making for easier integration and developer access. Battery life is said to be a challenge for Apple, however, with current prototypes lasting only about two days between charges, roughly half of Apple's goal.

And pretty soon, more leaks such:

- Apple is working on an electric bike
- Apple is working on an electric car
- Apple is working on a car radio
- Apple is working on a smart-fridge
- Apple is working on a smart-oven
- Apple is working on an iDog
- Apple is working on an iCat
- Apple is working on subsonic submarine
- Apple is working on a skyrocket for Mars
- Apple is working on teleportation
etc...

That way, it's gonna give some work for Samsung... LOL ;)

Beer? No, and the "finer things in life" are all too often ephemeral. I would suggest you wander through an antique store sometime. They are full of "cherished" items that lost their meaning after a generation or two. My investments are more substantial. I'll be remembered for the kids I've helped raise, not the trinkets and gelt I leave behind. The young people in my life received an education, a view of the world, a way of thinking. That's what they will remember me for. I'll be remembered for the houses that I left in better shape than when I moved in. The writing, and art, and theater, and videos I produced. The students I taught. The things I made with my hands and my brain. That's what I'll be remembered for. Not any glittery mass produced finery I horded. My library is very good and will go to a school. My paintings will be donated. Other assets will go to various charities. My family has already gotten what they are going to get. Far from being an "example of what has happened to society" I suspect society would be better off with more of me around.

Since you are so fond of the arts it's actually surprising you have no appreciation for the horology. Please show me an antique store with patek philippe watches. Watches like these are hand made, the opposite of mass produced and they actually hold their value or even increase, usually the signs of a good investment. Congratulations, you have books and paintings i bet you really impress all of your friends with that and add a new apple watch to you collection and you will truly knock their socks off. And to your point, obviously you haven't had a loved one die, because a lot of times its nice to have a keepsake of theirs that you can carry around or have with you, go ahead leave your kids books i bet they will really love those. All I was trying to say is that in todays society there are too many people who do not appreciate things such as watches and are going to go buy this piece of junk apple is calling a watch. So thank you for once again proving my point that you have no taste or idea of what constitutes fine pieces and things that people will actually appreciate you leaving behind. So once again thank you Mr. Art loving Yuppie I bet society is proud of you, I sure am.

Yep. Just like there were smart phones before the iPhone, right? Name anyone who could name one.

I'm confused. Are you denying that the watch in the picture is from 2009?

Here's a Sony SmartWatch with customer reviews from April 2012. Are you going to claim that there weren't any smartwatches before Apple brings one out.

Stop being so emotionally attached to a corporation.

And yes, there were Smartphones before the iPhone. Heck, my Pocket PC from 2004 looks like an iPhone when in the static icon mode. Did Apple copy Microsoft then?

According to Mitt Romney, "corporations are people too" so there is nothing wrong with being emotionally attached to them ;)

I think you are being a little too literal here. The implication was that smartphones before the iPhone were forgettable and niche. Much like current smart watches.

samsung... this is stupid

It just proves they are waiting to steal the ideas and try to release it a few days or weeks before the apple announcement. Same ******** as when the iPhone came out. The funny thing is I hope to hell the smartwatch from apple doesn't really exsist. Then they can focus on actual innovation while samsung chases an industrial espionage version of a red herring.

And it'd be terrible for Apple if Samsung actually designed all these rumors Apple fielded, and becomes a far more successful company because of it.

so you actually believe Samsung is doing this just because apple is possibly making one?

----------

People really think that any company build anything because they think other company is building it?

People can't be so naive

lol, how spooky.

The Wii U Pro controller is the same design as Xbox which is the same design as the Dreamcast controller.

Nintendo's famicom controller is the GOAT though. Nintendo needs to go back and make that again.

Still, I'd rather not have square controllers at this point of time.

The Pebble is far from forgettable.

Steal ideas... from who?
Samsung has actually made them before.
The "smartwatch" has been around for over a decade.
Forms change as tech changes, but the concept remains the same.

Samsung's Proxima design is very cool. Wish they would have put it into production.
