And that’s fair, it’s just not for you then. The point remains Samsung is still able to offer a screen that’s $700 cheaper than the similar option at Apple.
I would argue that the two displays are “similar” only in design at this price point, but not in quality.

Macrumors is an affiliate partner with Samsung?

That’s the biggest irony since that guy, Sam Sung, worked for apple 😂😂😂

Why is choosing a monitor so difficult for me? lol. Any recommendations for a 32-40 in curved ultra wide with good quality and SHARP TEXT? Im using a docked MBA M2 and I’m also not in the market for an XDR.

Most curved monitors in that size have very low ppi and that can be a problem for text clarity. We have 34” Samsung widescreen displays at work but they are only 1440p vertically and text is not nearly as crisp is what is on my MBP.

I don't think such a thing exists.

Highest DPI is probably the LG 34" 5k x 2k ultrawide - but its not curved. Ends up with similar DPI to a 27" 4k but wider and shorter. So also not that amazing for text clarity if you want macbook/imac/studio display quality text.

Thats why its so annoying when ppl whinge in threads about the FEW high dpi options we have saying they suck because they are missing something they want (HDR, High refresh, ultrawide). Completely ignoring that you cannot get all those things at > 200 dpi.

the display
Ye but technology in Apples consumer displays haven't changed since the 2014 5k iMac was introduced, this and the LG 5k are the only two alternatives so what display are you upgrading to?

If you want a 4k there are load of options but once you have used a 5k on an apple product its really hard to go back to anything else and there isnt anything else to look at.

Its the computer that ages faster than the display technology.

Doubt many would stretch to the 6k XDR with these products.

It would have to be in the $899 to $949 range before I would consider it over the Apple Studio Display – but I reserve the right to change my mind if at some point I can find a physical store that sells computer equipment anymore and see if for myself.

Agreed. I stopped reading at 60Hz. It’s late 2023, not 2003.
Flat screen displays barely existed in 2003, let alone ones higher than 60hz, and the resolution was 1600x1200 range at the highest on a 30" display, with little exception.

If you're going to be a smarty-pants and exaggerate, at least be in the ballpark.

The Apple 30” Cinema HD Display (which came out in 2004) was 2560x1600.

Yes, it was. But it was not 120hz (which was my point), and the resolution of the 30" Cinema Display was an exception, not the rule–as I stated in the post you're referring to. Most of the few flat screen displays available in that time period (short as it was) were still 4:3 aspect ratio or some odd-ball ratio that we would laugh at now.

Is the Thunderbolt 4 port used for video? I'd like to connect two Macs so wondering if I could connect one over Thunderbolt and the other with the mini DP?
