What, by releasing their flagship model.with 2 year old tech that other OEMS have discarded to the scrap bin. My, cook and Co must be wetting their knickers if they read some of the stuff on here.. they can whatever they like and the hoard will still lap it up. 2015 oled panels from Samsung at a discounted rate cos they are old tech, boom!! Charge top.dollar, give it a fancy name. Probably with retina in the title somewhere... brilliant!!
The way that OLED display is gonna be described in this years keynote is gonna be cringe worthy. I can already imagine Jony's voice and his phrases

Neither is touchwiz lag or draining battery or pink screen. As far as features; iOS, Live Photos, air drop, 3dt. Plus iOS 11 comes with a raft of new features.

There is no lag on current Touchwiz. It's just something iOS fans love to say to sound cool. In any case you can install Nova Launcher and get rid of it.
Draining battery affects all phones. Pink screen is already been fixed unlike Touch Disease.
Live Photos already there on S8 and so is 3DT right click. Air Drop is substituted by NFC share which is more efficient way to transfer.
The current displays on the iPhone and the overall design are definitely dated. This is a fact.

I agree. The 7 Plus screen is dated... by about a year since that’s when the phone came out. Yeah, it’s not LED, but LCd isn’t some relic technology.

Grumpymom's post says otherwise about pink screen.
3DT peek and pop is not implemented as it's in hardware. Airdrop is about the easiest way to transfer. And I'm sure there a many other features not in android, but in a tit-for-tat it isn't worth it to provide any cogent explanation.
Burn-in and pink screen are also dated; that's a fact. Micro-led should resolve that issue as Apple invests in a display manufacturing plant.

Don't waste your time mate. Some of the crap he comes up with is laughable. Draining battery? The S8 has better battery life then the iPhone! Pink screen? The iPhone has had yellow screen issues for years!! He will just keep changing the goalposts and coming up with new dribble.
Apple apologists are the worst. Like...come on, open your eyes and realise the sun doesn't shine out of their a**, and that sometimes they're simply ripping you off. AMIRITE?

Pink tint has gotten fixed. Yellow tint is yet to be resolved
Apple is already 4 years behind Sammy in display tech. By the time Apple gets around to using MicroLED we will all be using foldable display phones.

It still very much seems to be true.
There are threads on here, stating the software update didn't remediate the entire issue.
It's still not as good as the iphone implementaton.
What turn it on? It's always on. Of course you have to select what you want to send, does the phone read your mind?
Unfortunately for s8 users, some still might be having a problem.
Nice conjecture, but nobody really knows. OLED isn't the next great thing, with the burn-in issues.
Nothing like stating an opinion as fact.

Have you used the new touchwiz extensively? And the issue is irrelevant. Slap in Noval launcher and you dont have to deal with the issue. Rest of Touchwiz Apps are better than the stock apps. Samsung Browser on Android could give Safari a run for its money and is better than Chrome on Android
If the issue was at least partially fixed for some through an update it indicates an issue with the software not hardware and will be fixed soon.
One requires you to deep press while holding an massive phone. The other merely requires you to unlock the phone. Gee I cant for the life of me figure out which one is better?🙄
Turning it on results in battery drain thanks to Bluetooth hence many keep it off. With NFC (no bluetooth) just tap the phones. Easy as can be

LCD ain't going away and Apple will be into micro-led, which hopefully will put a nail on the coffin of burn in.
It's an opinion. The s8 is a slippery little one requiring a case, the iPhone 7 or 7+ is not as slippery.
Nice that you are playing fast and loose with Samsungs money. I'm sure they would disagree that the loss of 8 billion to their mobile phone division is a drop in the bucket.
So we can now conclude both iOS and Android lag. iOS ha regressed in this area while Android progressed and they are now dead even.

You must have large hands then because it's impossible to reach the top of the screen on the 7 Plus and activate 3DT with one hand
My iPhone lasts longer when my AW is not connected to it which proves it's not a myth. It's also not easier than NFC which is why Apple is allowing NFC share in iOS 11
Considering the amount of time spent on the outdated LCD tech in their phones you can bet that OLED is gonna be around for the next 7 years at least.
Even if it's ready for production Apple will first test drive it on AW before releasing on the iPhone so we are a looooooooooooong way from seeing it on iPhones.
Hahahahahaha that's a good one. Every single iPhone I have used is impossible to use without a case. The back is so damn slippery that when I wear loose clothes and keep it in my pocket it gets ejected the moment I open the car door and sit inside. In hand using a case is the only way to have it generate some friction and not drop it.
It's the reason why Jet Black was released which resolves this issue somewhat. In any case the issue of slipperiness is only aggravated when a phone is hard to hold which the S8 Plus is not being smaller than an iPhone 7 Plus and almost the size of the 7
For a company who just generated the highest profit on the planet I am sure the board is toasting each other as we speak and no one even remembers that irrelevant loss you are grasping on to.
In any case Samsung thanks Apple for compensating them for the Note 7 loss.

The internet seems to indicate that touchwiz lag is generally worse than what is seen on iOS.
Is that why lg tvs are being returned because of burn in?
According to reputable posters that "software update" doesn't solve the problem.

You have a S8? I can handle the S8 easier than the regular iPhone 7, I got both. With dry hands the iPhone moves like a freakin soap in my hand, glass gives more friction.
Nothing but a meme circulated to be the cool guy on the block. Its just like how people make wisecracks about Internet Explorer on Windows despite the newer versions being smoother than chrome

If it wasnt fixed than I see it nothing more than a fixable iPhone yellow tint variant issue
1) Samsung has acknowledged this issue and released a software fix. they also encouraged people to return their devices if the fix doesn't help to mitigate it. 2) all mentioned above display anomalies are due to QA during OLED manufacturing process and automatic factory calibration that doesn't adjust to such anomalies.
However some of my acquaintances no longer have that tint

I use wired headphones with the highest sound quality and no lag. Airdrop enables bluetooth which drains battery.

LCD suffers from perpetual yellow tint for generations on end and dead pixels and backlight bleed. MicroLED will come with its own fair share of issues
No its not. The reason Apple invented Jet Black was BECAUSE the iPhone was handling like a bar of soap when naked. The Jet Black can be a match for the S8 in the slipperiness department but loses when it comes to "handability" and durability
