I can't believe I'm going to say this......

After watching the iPhone 6 keynote I'm seriously now considering the Alpha.

I wanted a lighter phone and the iP6 is essentially equal in weight to my Moto X.

I love the 4.7" screen size of my X and I had a mostly positive experience with my S4 Active.

Rumor has it this is coming to AT&T and T-Mobile in the States. I hope that confirmation comes soon. I'll be keeping a close eye on reviews now.

Samsung are stupid.

If they'd price the Alpha at £400, they would steal SO many potential iPhone 6 customers.

And don't talk to me about price/profit - the amount of money they waste of the 300 other phones in their range, the endless R&D, the marketing budget...

The Note 4 seems better than the iPhone 6 Plus. The Alpha could have done wonders at a more Nexusy price point.

Yeah price is biggest off putter for me. €499 even and id have gone there, bust €649 is just too much especially when from resale point of view they don't hold their value like an iPhone priced similarly.

599€ on the Phone House. Just saw it.

Still waiting on battery life reviews.

Well the new X is out for me so bring this one on.

More deer in headlight stares when I ask about this one at retailers. Samsung rep said our focus is the S and Note lines.

Not sure what country you live in. I've read rumors of both an AT&T and T-Mobile release in October, but nothing definitive.

The Alpha does a better job of screen utilization that the IP6...
Smaller bezels.

The Alpha is pretty much what I was banking on the iPhone 6 being. I wanted Apple to give us a 4.7" screen but not up the total weight. Somehow Samsung of all people pulled it off and not Apple.

Agreed

Certainly when it's not the screen of the note or has snapdragon 805

I don't see why Samsung should have to sell their phone for bargain basement prices. They are premium devices, even more so now that they have improved their build quality. Nobody says that Apple should reduce the price of their devices.

Agreed for the most part. However, I believe people are concerned about the price because of the mild steps back in specs (lower res screen, no sd card, smaller battery, lack of IR). Feeling the price should be lower given this.

If they price it the same as the iphone, the avg buyer (the majority) is going to chose the iphone...at least in the past thats how it went.

The Z3 Compact is on my list!
It seems to be slightly cheaper too at $650 (converted from Euro, I'm guessing it'll be cheaper in the states) unlocked.

EDIT: If you shop around a bit more, it goes for $580-ish.

Is it out yet? I haven't heard about a release date for the Z3 or Z3 compact. I am in the US......I will check the carrier sites and see......

It's in store at carphone warehouse now.

Can you please let me know which Carphone warehouse have the Z3 Compact in stock?

On their website, it says pre-order, in sock on 1st of October.

I ordered a red one from Handtec for £350, they are expecting stock the week after iPhone 6 comes out.

Between iPhone 6 and alpha, I think the Z3 Compact is the best choice with its massive 2600mAh battery for the size and weight, it is smaller the iPhone 6 and weight the same, plus its much cheaper.

Any Canadians here getting this? I realized if USA doesn't get this I could just import the Canadian model. I think.

I'm trying to buy one locally, seen a new black one advertised for €540 sim free unlocked / unbranded

O2 have them for €549 but locked to O2 and software branded.

Z3 compact is going very cheap in comparison to the Alpha too.

£350 on clove.co.uk compared to £499 for the alpha.

I have had bad experiences with Sony phones (hated the Z2 camera quality despite it's touted 20mp camera) and not keen on Sony's skin and services. - though PS Remote Play would be cool.

I am curious about the Z3 and Z3 Compact. But have heard so many varying reports and experiences.....

I'm heavily influencing my gf to get a Z3 at the moment, might have a report for you soon.... I really dig the way it looks. Those small design changes from the Z2 really made all the difference for me, it doesn't look nearly as bezel-tastic as the Z2.

BTW have you read bad early reviews about it? The ones I've found have all been very positive.

No bad reviews but wasn't impressed with video quality samples over on btekt

Other than that its getting glowing reviews, and as I say for the big price difference between it and the alpha and even bigger against the iPhone 6.
