Can't speak for audio quality as I've never tried them, but I don't like the design of the Samsung Buds at all, they look very uncomfortable. Plus, that metallic finish on the ends looks extremely tacky.

It's good you're still learning. ;)

The point of my original comment was to use humor to illustrate how Samsung copies Apple. Sry I needed to explain it. Well aware of what Galaxy buds have always looked like, a novel departure from copying Apple. Perhaps I should’ve added the obligatory “/s” or a little eyeroll emoji.

Apple has copied Samsung a number of times as well - like large screen phones, something Apple used to mock.

Samsung wasn’t the first in regards to like half of the products you listed...I completely forgot Samsung made smart watches, Apples dominance in the wearables literally dwarfs Samsung. First is meaningless, always will be. Implementation is what Apples nails and everyone seems to skip out on that to be “first.”
You forgot that only Apple makes Apple phones, so their dominance in accessories is "built in". Samsung has to compete with a dozen other Android makers and their accessories. So, first can matter, if you mock someone for "copying".

I actually like the stem on the Apple Airpods (both versions, though personally I prefer the silicon tips of the Pros). I'm a bit surprised everyone competitor seems bent on releasing something without a stem.

The stem gives your finger tips an ergonomic thing to grip. All the other stem-less options are harder for fingers to get a grip on when pulling out the ear. It feels less natural to grip an oblong mass inside your years than it is to grip a straight stick-like thing.

you completely missed the point of having no stem lol

Buttons or capacitive touch controls. I actually prefer the latter yet in very cold temperatures (-10 Celsius or below) they don’t seem to work especially if your fingers are wet from rain or colder than body temperature.
AirPod Pro’s lost the fine R vs L earbud controls that original AirPods have which frustrates me.

I want left for Siri and Ambient for long press, Right for Noise Reduction or OFF (not ambient). I cannot seem to do this on my iPhone SE ‘16 model.

can anyone else do this on newer models?

your writing style is eerily similar to a recently "retired" politician...
Lately I’ve been having that thought of how fanboys almost sound like supporters of that guy. Whenever there is an article of something Samsung or Microsoft they come out with their aggressive comments and their need to defend their hero. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I love Apple products but geez...

Oh so now we are moving the goalposts? We are talking about who copied who. Whoever brought it to market AFTER the other is the copier. In this case, Apple was indeed later to the market, hence is entitled to the "copier" title. And yes, Samsung was first in those categories compared to Apple. Let's not move the goal post, yet again shall we? Be a man and give credit where its due.

Perhaps you should have. Otherwise... Poe's Law. ;)

That was hilarious at the time, the howls of derision from immature Apple fanboys about the size of Samsungs phones, I had a 4s at the time.
Then of course Apple came out with larger screens, then very large screens, then the Fanboys thought they were great, I wonder how many Apple parts Samsung uses in their phones, cos I'm pretty sure Apple uses screens from Samsung.

Maybe it's because I'm no longer a kid I don't see the point of all the oneupmanship, All seems a bit childish to me, I am heavily invested into the Apple ecosystem, but without competition from other manufactures , my Apple products wouldn't be so good.

Be thankful that others innovate, that will spill over onto your iPhone eventually, and mine too.

I love my Airpods Pro - however they really do not fit my ear. When going out on a walk they keep falling out of my ear, no matter the tip.

They're great when static at home, but not really good for walks when I would like to use them the most. If these Samsungs stayed in my ears that would already make them better for me, but then it wouldn't work as well with my Apple Watch and iPhone.

I have even through of downgrading to standard Airpods 2 as those used to fit great for me.
My wife had same problem but i dont. In the end bought some 3rd party tips which mould to ear and these help keep them in place.

I did exactly this. The Pro's just weren't a good fit for me, sadly.

There are several foam tip options which might work better for you. I toyed with that but decided to stick with the tried and tested method. Now onto my third pair of AirPods now but they amount of hours of use (average four hours a day with work calls and music) I've got from each, I don't mind really.

Yeah, except I still like the pre-Samsung-sized iPhones. The original SE is the perfect phone for me. The big ones are verifiably too big to use with one hand, that's why people commonly buy those circular grips for the back.

Apple realized they'd sell more of the big ones. I guess they're better if you're on your phone a ton, and sadly that's how people are now. Maybe the same people who mocked the big screens didn't later applaud Apple's decision, they just quit being fans.

perhaps the odd few will have left the ecosystem because of the size but Apple won’t worry for at least two reasons, first there are no decent really small phones from anyone anymore and secondly it’s a tiny market (as the 12 Mini sales appear to be showing). I have a 12 Mini and couldn’t go any smaller but it’s the perfect size for me, if they stopped selling it though I’d just get the regular 12 and use two hands!

I’m not sure why this thread has descended into Samsung bashing though, headphones have been around a very long time before Apple got into them and frankly they haven’t reinvented them at all. In my opinion all that’s happened is they’ve built better integration because they control all of the hardware and software.m, something the others can only dream of - and make others more competitive. It’s a great thing competition for all of us!

Both Airpods and Samsung Buds are throw away products. After 12 months the battery capacity is so low, that you can barely have an hour long phone conversation.
So its more like a 20$ per month product. A lifetime long. whereas my Earpods are working indefinitely and cost about 15$

Not sure about these new Pro Buds, but all the previous Galaxy Buds versions are powered by rechargeable coin cells that can be replaced, either on your own (not an entirely trivial process - there are iFixit guides), or by Samsung. In practice no doubt most will still be dumped once the batteries die, but considering the size constraints of such devices I think Samsung has done a pretty good job so far at keeping them repairable.

What amazes me is that there has only been one ‘AirPods Pro’ generation. Or looked another way it’s a gen 2 product i.e. from the original AirPods; and all I hear is Samsung releasing wireless headphone after wireless headphone after wireless headphone that it is now becoming ridiculous and really rather quite pathetic. Can’t wait for AirPods Pro 2. And then mark my words watch and see Samsung release yet another 3 generations of headphones to just catch up. It’s hilarious

Yeah, product updates are so bad. I wish every product was on the same length of update cycle as the Mac pro.

As an apple fan, who just bought the iPhone 12 Pro. Has owned the airpods gen 1 and has the AirPod pros I have to say the Samsung’s sound interesting.
if I’m being honest about the AirPod pros there’s a lot of cons which I’m not used to in an Apple product. For example:
-The fit. Subjective, yes, but the gen 1 I used for everything. The gym was a joy to use I could even hit the boxing bag with them no problems. The pros fall out with me just sitting there. Eating? Fall out. Turning my head as I enjoy music? Fall out. Look down? Fall out. It’s pathetic and these were $400AUD for me.
- the controls. They’re pathetic. Sometimes because they are slipping out of my ears I’ll push them in so I don’t have to one f my many life saving catches before they hit the ground and I’ll hang up on the call I was on.
- ANC is good, but so are my JBLs at doing this. My JBLs are kind of flat sounding but everything else is better.
- the battery on the pros is worse than the gen 1s for sure. I used to get close to 6 hours on gen1. Pros is like best case 4h40m.
- I also bought the beats pro because of the ear hooks such was the pathetic ness of the AirPod pro fit and these sound heaps better. They don’t fall out. Have 9 hour battery life and nice warm sound. I just don’t like the case as it’s huge. AirPod pro case sucks compared with gen 1 case also.
The fact that the Samsung offers longer battery life and similar sound, for what will inevitably be less money and in a smaller case is intriguing.
Big post but there seems a lot of people talking about the pros as if they are perfection. They are not. They kind of suck for the money. Half the price would make them a deal but they aren’t half the price. Usually with Apple I don’t care cause everything just works-these kind of don’t.
I didn’t mention the intermittent issues with them dropping out although this might be Bluetooth in general more than apples fault.

I hope, for the Samsung fanboys, that Samsung will cut down on their development time by no longer trying to mock Apple's choices, and just honestly copy everything the first day Apple releases something. ;)

Edit: https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/23/22197394/samsung-deletes-ads-mocking-apple-charger

I really don’t get the constant obsession with who’s copying who. Surely it’s in a consumer’s interests that companies do copy each other? I have AirPods Pro. Does it make any difference to me if Samsung or whoever release a product with similar capabilities? Nope. Do I hope Apple adds features like the ‘mode change when talking’ on the Samsungs? Hell, yes! Is competitors copying Apple bad for Apple as a company? Maybe in principal, but I’m sure everyone there knows that it’s a reality of business, and even if you want to argue that loss of exclusivity affects Apple’s stock price, so Apple failing to implement a killer feature available on competitor’s phones (i.e. copying) would also affect stock price. Can you imagine if we still didn’t have cut/copy/paste on the iPhone?

But still, people seem happy to put the interests of a corporation in front of their interests as a consumer.
