I would love to have a smaller case (like the Samsung).
I usually carry my AirPods Pro in the small front pocket of my jeans and it’s little uncomfortable from time to time.
Flatter would be better.

As an apple fan, who just bought the iPhone 12 Pro. Has owned the airpods gen 1 and has the AirPod pros I have to say the Samsung’s sound interesting.
if I’m being honest about the AirPod pros there’s a lot of cons which I’m not used to in an Apple product. For example:
-The fit. Subjective, yes, but the gen 1 I used for everything. The gym was a joy to use I could even hit the boxing bag with them no problems. The pros fall out with me just sitting there. Eating? Fall out. Turning my head as I enjoy music? Fall out. Look down? Fall out. It’s pathetic and these were $400AUD for me.
- the controls. They’re pathetic. Sometimes because they are slipping out of my ears I’ll push them in so I don’t have to one f my many life saving catches before they hit the ground and I’ll hang up on the call I was on.
- ANC is good, but so are my JBLs at doing this. My JBLs are kind of flat sounding but everything else is better.
- the battery on the pros is worse than the gen 1s for sure. I used to get close to 6 hours on gen1. Pros is like best case 4h40m.
- I also bought the beats pro because of the ear hooks such was the pathetic ness of the AirPod pro fit and these sound heaps better. They don’t fall out. Have 9 hour battery life and nice warm sound. I just don’t like the case as it’s huge. AirPod pro case sucks compared with gen 1 case also.
The fact that the Samsung offers longer battery life and similar sound, for what will inevitably be less money and in a smaller case is intriguing.
Big post but there seems a lot of people talking about the pros as if they are perfection. They are not. They kind of suck for the money. Half the price would make them a deal but they aren’t half the price. Usually with Apple I don’t care cause everything just works-these kind of don’t.
I didn’t mention the intermittent issues with them dropping out although this might be Bluetooth in general more than apples fault.
Anecdotal evidence, but majorty of people running around with Airpods (pros) mainly used wired Earpods 2 years ago. Compared to that Airpods will sound better and obviously be more convenient and magical.

Airpods often overlooked success is that it made people usually not spending more than $20 on headphones to spend $100-$200.

In-ear headphones just won’t work for me—hurt my ears. I only use overhead headphones like AirPods Max, Sony XM 3, Sony XM 2, Bose 700, Audio Techica M40X and Cowin E70🎧

Both these companies are using technology that has been available since before smartphones became a thing. They both “copy” each other and other companies as well. Samsung came out with certain things before Apple did. And Apple came out with features before Samsung did. This petty war between brand fans is quite silly... as silly as the Apple fans who think Samsung can go from development into production and then shipping in a few weeks for a device they just “copied” from Apple.

I actually like the stem on the Apple Airpods (both versions, though personally I prefer the silicon tips of the Pros). I'm a bit surprised everyone competitor seems bent on releasing something without a stem.

The stem gives your finger tips an ergonomic thing to grip. All the other stem-less options are harder for fingers to get a grip on when pulling out the ear. It feels less natural to grip an oblong mass inside your years than it is to grip a straight stick-like thing.
I also like that it’s a visual clue for other people that “I have headphones on” so they don’t just start talking to me and then wonder why I’m not responding.

So let me get this straight. Airpods Pro are a better choice if you have an Apple device and Galaxy Buds Pro are a better choice if you have a Samsung device. Glad we got that cleared up.

I know a lot of people who swear on their iPhones, but don't even know how to send an email. As a matter of fact, they don't know anything other than how to make a phone call, send a text or take a selfie. I'm not saying all Apple users are like that, but please don't try to sell this BS how everyone uses Apple products cuz they're superior ever again. People have their brand preferences and that's ok, but this narrative how it's because one is way better than the other is just a fanboy talk from both sides.
You heard what you wanted to hear. I never Said people buy apple because they are superior. I even Praised Samsung for their contributing innovations. And what you said about people not being able to use their iPhones can be said about android too. Half of androids sold are cheap barely smart phones but that don’t stop them from being counted in market share. What I said Was in response to someone. I don't Care what other people use or how they feel about a certain brand. I said What I said Precisely because someone said what you accused me of saying. Maybe you should go after them instead of me. Or maybe your fanboy is showing a little bit as well...

"Apple's ‌AirPods Pro‌ charge wirelessly or via a Lightning port, while the Galaxy Buds Pro use USB-C." A little misleading? Seems like you are inferring the buds do not provide wireless charging. Remember Samsung was doing wireless charging long before Apple. And the stem works better? No. The stem is hideous. Thats like saying the screen notch is better? SMH. Terrible review.

Agreed.

Who would've expected impartiality on a forum called Macrumors? :)

In all seriousness though, whilst I love my Airpods Pro, the Galaxy Buds line are great bang for buck given they're often found significantly below RRP. Whilst my Airpods Pro switch seamlessly between my iPhone 12/Apple TV/iPad Pro, I really enjoy the similar seamlessness of using my Galaxy Buds Plus with my Galaxy Z Fold2. They work well for sound quality, the Galaxy UI integration is as good as Apple's (assuming you're using a Samsung device), and the case is nice and small.

What I do miss which probably apply to the newer Galaxy Buds products which share similar designs are the lack of stems (it's always awkward putting them in/out since there's no natural place to hold and you end up touching the touch controls) and the lack of aftermarket accessories/cases for personalisation vs Apple stuff.
