Went to a local best buy today and checked out both the N10 and the +. The + is very nice looking and feels good in the hand. The only downside is that it is larger than my S10+ which already barely fits in the pocket. Best buy had black, aura glow, and blue on display and hands down they are all fingerprint magnets. Granted, no one ever wipes them down, but I was a bit surprised at how they looked.

I'm glad I saw them in person and will probably go with the N10 in white. I'll be giving up a few things, but gaining a smaller phone.

I didn't notice the drop in PPI in my limited time with it, just remember it was under the lights at best buy, on a security cable, and it wasn't for long (there were other people there and I didn't want to "hog" it).

The curve and resolution of the display were my biggest letdowns from the announcement, and I still wish they would've gone with a flat QHD display, but after holding and seeing it today, it seems like those won't be that big of a deal.

I didn't notice a big difference either. I ran an hdr YouTube video at 1440p60 on the + and the same video at 1080p60 on the N10. Both looked amazing.

I wonder why my S10+ doesn't have the option to play the same videos at 1440p...

Edit: because my s10+ was running at 1080p.

Just came back from Best Buy checking out the Note 10.
Color me impressed! It has a very nice feel in the hand....so much lighter than my xs Max even though it is bigger.
The curved display feels less curved than the S10 Plus and that is huge for me. But I wish it had a flat display.
I think the camera is better than it seems from the hardware specs. I was taking pics in the store with the N10+and my Xs Max. The N10 pics seem better...more clear with more detail.

I am really glad I got the Note 10 Plus. I like the size of that beast of a phone.
The phone itself was so fast and fluid. I am liking how One UI is evolving so far.
Looking forward to having in my hands!

When you say aesthetics, do you mean materials and build? Every year this phone is tougher and tougher for me to pass up.. I always do, and I’m not exactly sure why. Might just be laziness of switching over all my gear, or it may be along the lines of the aesthetics piece you’ve mentioned.

Yep, I'm talking about the attention to detail and build quality. To be sure, it's solid but not at all elegant.

Best thing going for it is the screen!

At a beach and no pics??!
In more recent years after some sort of change was made to the forum, the only pics I've been able to post from my phones to this forum have been from my Pixels using the VR sticker thing. I did once post beach pics with Porgs, though. At least I think I did. Anyway you're not missing much. Sand and murky water and I'm probably what passes for a beach babe around here, which is pretty frightening considering I'm in my 50's and out of shape.:p

It is pretty at night, though. I get the best photos of the moon over the ocean from my Samsung phones starting with the S9+. Oddly enough my iPhone XR does the best job of making it look like what I see. Probably because Pixels and Samsungs tend to let too much light in and make the moon look like the sun and make the dark of night look like sunset.

My oh my, I couldn't disagree with you more, I would easily say both Note10 models look elegant. That being said, it all really comes down to personal taste. Which is why we have different color options. The only two colors that I consider to be safe colors for any phone are, black and white. But who are we kidding, users overwhelmingly slap a case on it anyway. So basically, it ends up being all about that absolutely gorgeous display!!! ;)

East or west coast beach?

All your posts make me willing to switch more and more.. but while I was contemplating the move, reseller that was offering additional 10% down from note’s price cancelled the proposition:) so maybe I will try s10e first, if android (and samsung implementation of pwm) is acceptable... decisions, decisions...

The Note 10 + is a beast and will do everything you could ask for in a flagship. I just don't get how it's a big upgrade over the S10 plus, that's why it's puzzling me those that are making that switch. And I definitely don't think the Note 10 is an upgrade on the S10 plus.

For some of us upgrading to the Note 10+ from the S10+ is easier :)

Firstly not only do I get not 2x more storage I get 4x thanks to a free 256 extra upgrade to the 512gb. I also get 2 years warranty and 1x free screen repair bundled a free back case and a wireless charger pack.

Spec wise I get the newer 7nm chipset, more ram, bigger battery and a bigger screen plus an S Pen and TOF

Whilst I preferred the placement of the punch on the S10+ it was bigger with 2 cameras that I thought was unnecessary, where the central dot I can live with being much smaller

Last time I checked most media is rectangular and whilst the S10+ corner radius was small especially compared to Iphones the Note10 radius is tiny. To me screen to body ratio are meaningless in most cases as they ignore the chopped corners on most media. Whilst I understand in the case of say Mickey Mouse ears have stayed the same for 60-70 years and should not be messed with the Iphone roundy bits are not retro classic IMO and more dated stubbornness

(edited out)

The new tighter integration with W10 laptops and DEX is a given on the Note10's not sure it will be the same for the S10's

Then there is a few fun/gimmicky bits and the extras to video may encourage more to experiment. I certainly going to have a play with the 3d scanning to see if it has any legs plus some tweaks to connectivity speeds etc

I appreciate some views on loss of headphone jack, but its a low priority for me as I only use my noise cancelling set for flying so I can live with a dongle in my little Bose case

I also appreciate some views on a more vanilla android or even some other OEMs version of Android but if you like rich full feature OS then there is a lot in Samsung skin as I do not subscribe to the less is more club or the best spec camera takes the best photo

The last minor differentiation on case re stainless steel surround is also matched on the new Notes

You are right on all counts except one. The band is still aluminum, not stainless steel. What's weird about that is that the Samsung videos and even their site said stainless steel for a time, and now it has been changed to "high-polished aluminum". Oh well, I'll take the weight reduction. :)

Edit: and I'd love to grab the +, but it's just massive! I don't know if I could use that daily.

Thanks for the correction, yes I read the early specs and it said SS :(

With typical middle age eyesight the bigger screen is unfortunately becoming a necessity LOL

I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I think the N10 is elegant and has excellent build quality
It's certainly a nice take on the modern aesthetic.
Nothing wrong at all with the looks......
.....except for the cyclops feature, haha.

I know l know, I'm in the minority when it comes to screen aberrations.

The white is nice and of course the pink. However, in the UK we only have black and that awful aura glow colour at the moment. Black is boring and the other one looks like a prism. Admittedly I've not seen them in the store in real life yet.

I've not seen them in the flesh yet but from all the videos it looks top notch.

I am the same. Now my husband keeps encouraging me to switch too. He's on android as well.

I think I would get used to the middle hole punch. It's still better than a notch. However the best samsung have put out so far is on the S10. It's out of the way and it blends into the display.

I keep seeing reviewers say how much they like the Aura Glow. I've not seen it in person but in all videos I've seen, it looks awful. Like a nasty shiny/glowy parrot. lol

Has anyone here seen it in person and what do you think?

I just can’t understand why Samsung don’t give colours to everybody why are some countries got other colours and UK get just two...if apple did this then all hell would break loose.

And while it’s great they have brought out 5G it really has no use this year...hell here on EE we won’t be here getting til end of 2019 from what i gather and even then it will take time to get 5G at speeds that are noticeable from 4G so i think apple releasing it in 2020 will be about right in terms of it actually being useful. So i think it’s better to just get the note plus with a 4G plan for this year.

You don't need to convince me, I bought two at full price. No trade-in discount, or any discount of any kind. To be honest, it's the only phone I don't have an issue paying $1500 for. Yup, that's how much the N10+ cost up North. As long as I take good care of the devices, I should be able to get a good trade-in discount, 2yrs down, when I go for the Galaxy Fold 3. :p

Just for S and G:
Look what I would get if I continued with Apple. Dang, thanks, but no thanks. So again, the exact price before tax on N10+ is $1469, with 256GB/12GB RAM, SPen and screen digitizer. Hardware that should truly increase the price of any device. Then I see this, sorry I just can't anymore. These days, I see the ecosystem more as a trap and a loss off flexibility.

Yeah. Pricing matters to me these days. Been ios users for long time, but these days it doesn’t matter anymore. As long as i can do basic things, that’s fine. I’m still osx user(mac pro) and ipad user, this android and samsung phone is giving me a sense of peace.

Makes sense to get the 5G version though if someone plans on keeping it more than a year.

Are the EE 5G plans more expensive than the 4G ones?

the cyclops will take a little getting used to for sure! :)
