Really ? I honestly can say I never experienced any.

Guess it depends how you use the phone, what apps you have on there, etc. CM has been a great improvement according to her though, she just had to get used to using the AOSP apps rather than the Samsung ones.

And CM is a massive improvement for older Sammy phones too. The S3 with TouchWiz Jelly Bean is virtually unusable. I stuck CM11 (KitKat) on one for another friend and now it's as fast as my S4 (also running CM of course).

That said, I also know someone with an S5 who has no problems using TouchWiz. But I give it a few updates until it starts bugging out and I'll be asked to stick CM on that too.

Oooh Sammy sure knows how to impress with the specs. OIS on a 16mp shooter should be a. killer feature if done properly. And I expect a 2k screen, any word on ram?

What was exactly wrong with the GN3? With the 3gb of RAM, it never lagged.

It was just an unpredictable experience is the best way I can sum it up. It would have random restarts, battery life was outstanding one week, terrible for the next 2, and then just buggy weird things would occur with app opening delays and other things.

I think its an amazing piece of spec hardware and love the size and screen but from a stock standpoint it was a downright disaster of an experience for me. Its sad because I enjoy Android but from now on will only buy stock Android phones or nothing Samsung for a while.

Contemplating the One Plus One, a 930 Windows phone, or even going back to iOS which is my last resort.

This has been my experience as well. I do experience occasional lag, but I chalk it up to the same scoreboard that I chalk up apps force closing randomly on my iOS devices, just a minor annoyance that is only occasional.

I am not too familiar with how the skins on top of android work such as sense on the HTC and then the skin on the LG G3.

I guess it would just be like Touchwiz on the Samsung devices but maybe not as bloated causing the KitKat/Touchwiz stuff?

Not to mention, I am trying to buy off contract from now on as I think paying for the NEXT plan on ATT (which I have now) is pretty ridiculous and regret doing it.

Why don't you like the NEXT plan? It's pretty much zero percent financing and you get the $15/line credit versus contract, and you have no contract other than having to pay the phone off.

Might as well just buy off contract at full price with flexibility to sell whenever I want and not wait until the 18 month mark.

I am stuck with this Note 3 until I officially own it which is about 6 months away unless I sign another "lease" for a new phone in September and turn in the phone for nothing.

The additional money off, I am not sure I follow. I am on a group plan with my wife and I and get a employer discount off as well so not sure I get that savings. Maybe I am missing out?

I didn't mind the back on my S5 when i had it, didn't need a case. If they make it metal it will be slippery and scratch like 5S and M8, and will be HUGE if you have to case it.

Yeah but it's zero percent financing, you can just pay it off whenever you want and then sell it. I might be mistaken, but I couldn't see why you would be stuck for 18 months if you paid it off in full.

Plus I was under the impression that you could jump to a new phone after a certain amount of time before that 18 months expired and just keep paying the Next fee, once again I might be mistaken it's been a while since I researched this option.


Edit: OK I looked up the stats. So you are on a 24 month program, but in 18 months you can trade it in for a new phone. The Note 3 is $31.88/month on a 24 month Next plan that you can upgrade from in 18 months. $31.88x18 months = 573.84 paid. If you buy it full price it's currently 764.99 plus the activation fee, although I think that's less than what it was when released. They are averaging about $360-$415 on swappa currently, and probably less when your 18 months is up. So you might be ahead of the game $100 or so, although I bet it's less once the Note 4 gets released in a couple of months.

I don't blame you though, money is money. I've personally just grown lazy with craigslist, ebay and the risk of selling, the time and effort of haggling, setting up a deal and having to meet someone. It's appealing to me to just pay every month and have a new phone every year, or 18 months, my current Note 3 is probably the last phone I'll buy outright, before this I've bought every single phone outright.

I can definitely pay it off early but thats part of my point of why I dont need to do the NEXT plan any further if I am looking to try and buy all my phones off contract now. I could have just bought the phone at full price from the beginning but I didnt have the cash then and dont know either unless I did some good math and got an awesome buyer to cover costs.

I will retract, its not a terrible plan just doesnt make economical sense unless you are 100% sure you are going to upgrade every year which isnt the case for my next phone purchase, so my mistake.

(1080P in my Nexus 7 2013 looks perfect, so why would it be necessary on a smaller screen?), can't really see a difference compared to 1080P, etc.

You're eligible for NEXT pricing if you purchase at full retail or bring your own device--no contract required. As long as you have at minimum a 10GB/month data plan, each additional smartphone line costs $15/mo vs. $40/mo for plans on traditional 2 yr contracts or with lesser data allowances.

My family has a mobile share plan that includes 4 phones and 2 tablets--we get the FAN (employee) discount for the hospital where she works and only pay $15/phone line and $10/tablet. We're technically on NEXT pricing but don't finance any of our devices--two phones originally bought on 2 year contract before conversion to NEXT and 2 other phones bought from third parties and just added to the plan. We could cancel outright with no ETF today if we liked. Beauty is we save $100/mo vs. 2 yr contract pricing so over the course of 2 yrs save $2400--more than offsets cost of buying devices without subsidy.

As an long time AT&T customer I welcomed the Next Program. Already owning my phones and being very happy with their fast LTE network, there's no longer a contact involved. I too get a corp discount via work, so my monthly service is quite reasonable. When I decided I wanted a Galaxy Note 3, their Total Next Price for the phone was exactly the same as anywhere else I could buy it.

Reminding AT&T of my lifetime value and loyalty I asked for a courtesy discount on the phone. The person asked if she could put me on hold, returning she said that their Next pricing was fixed, but if I paid the full price she'd issue a credit against my monthly invoice.

I immediately said yes, to which she responded the credit would be for $100. I was both surprised and very pleased. By simply asking in a low key courteous manner the effort paid off handsomely.

I'm at a loss to find another smartphone with its feature set. With the update to Android OneNote allowing handwriting input my Note 3 has been catapulted into some extreme functionality.
