So I guess I must have a special S8 that doesn't lag

Well you seem pretty quick to jump to that (fairly tired) defence when there could be other explanations. Perhaps there’s a severe manufacturing issue. Perhaps android, or Samsung’s spin on android, is very vulnerable to performing poorly by the mere act of installing applications. But perhaps you do indeed have a golden phone, invulnerable to the faults that others report. Who knows. In any case, not a greatly attractive scenario.

As for the “undying hatred of Samsung”. Victim complex not a good look.

How is it that every year that we see people having to admit that last year’s stuttered

(Just up this page from one of the most ardently pro Samsung and Android posters, but echoed all over the internet in this and other forums)

And every year we see people trying to imply, “This isn’t 2011 anymore”, that the stutter is somehow a thing of the distant past? How does that happen?

Before this was published and Samsung were humiliated by it and started to close up their marketing spending from public view

http://www.asymco.com/2013/04/02/the-cost-of-selling-galaxies-updated/

And then we learned that was actually short for billions of dollars for “Sales promotions” (read: bribing cellphone salespeople with incentives)

Roughly about twice as much as Apple. I’ll take a cash bet, if anyone can find credible figures for 2016/2017 that the gap has widened too.

BTW are we counting the Korean student budget?

Lol is it really that hard to believe that there are people who genuinely like the Galaxy flagships over the iPhone? Dude I own both. I love my Apple gadgets (omg the iPhone is dropping in a matter of weeks :D) but I'm also not some blind fan. I use Samsung products and they work well. So please stop with the conspiracy theories. The Galaxy smartphones get praise b/c they actually deserve it. Samsung has been rated the best when it comes to display for lord knows how long b/c nobody came close to what they offered, including Apple. Samsung has been praised on the camera and they even gotten alot of praise for finally improving their Android skin. The Note also gets praise b/c it's arguably the best big screen phone on the market by far. I simply give credit to where it's due

The Apple community is such an echo chamber.

"Windows sucks. Android sucks."

No they don't; not anymore. They haven't for years and years.

They're good now and your company is run by an accountant.

He's selling 5 year old hardware at premium prices because his fanbase are irrational and insular.

Young people adapt in milliseconds and don't remember a time when non-Apple software was bad.

Apple is a dead man walking unless they take their heads out of their asses and compete on the playing field of the future rather than the playing field of the past.
Having bought my first PC in a decade (for gaming) last week I can confidently say from recent experience that Windows is indeed still a cluster**** of piss-poor UI and janky design.

yeah, but had the same feeling about touchscreens/tablet devices before iphone/ipad came out. we'll see how iphone 8 does it.
we'll see how both goes. Note 8 isn't out for general population..and iphone whatever doesn't exist till it's announced...so...yup.

Victim complex? Lol dude I don't give a damn about any of this stuff. I'm not emotionally invested in this like some yall are. You defend apple like they're paying you and quite frankly it's hilarious but whatev. And yes my phone works well. But if it makes you feel better I'll just lie and say my phone is slow and doesn't work and is stupid and Samsung sucks :)

No. No, it’s hard to believe. I enjoyed janitoring all things computer in my twenties too. That’s not what my post you replied to said though, is it?

Perhaps you could respond to the pst i made, rather than the strawman you wish i made.

You sure post like you give a damn and, tell me, where did I defend Apple here? Are you trying the subtle variant of OMG APPLE FANBOI here? Strawman is straw.[/QUOTE]

I responded to the post that you sent me. Keep in mind that I'm doing this on a phone. So excuse the hell out of me for making a mistake

I think the reason for this is simply that Android users have a choice and thus vote with their wallet, while Apple users are like addicts, they complain about the high price und then buy anyways because of lack of options..

How do they lack options? Android is on the market and 80%+ of market share. Does this notion of people not being able to find their way to the heavily incentivized Samsung stand really seem realistic to you? Have you heard of market forces before?

The fact that you had to search the webs for some 5yr old links just to bash Samsung kinda proves my point lol. And no dude I don't care. I'm browsing the web to find some anti apple link. B/c it isn't that serious lol. I just find this entire interaction kinda hilarious. I'm bored so you're entertaining me. So thanks

Indeed I would agree it's not the best.

What's the better option. Having one in a less than ideal position or not having one at all ?

The answer is simple. The better option is to have the best and most secure away of unlocking your phone. That be fingerprint or face recognition, iris scanner or whatever. I have absolutely no doubt the 3D face recognition will be a game changer and better then fingerprint reader. But of course, you take away something people are used to it, they panic. Like with the headphone jack which I am deeply missing it........................not.

You didn’t though

You said that you had the world’s only lag free Samsung, I said that’s unlikely and you jumped to omg y’all hate Samsung. Is there something deficient about a Samsung phone you can’t follow a thread?

They’re 4 years old and they’re the most recent credible figures because Samsung were humiliated in the mainstream press about spending twice as much, for far less profit, and obfuscated their marketing spend forever more. Thanks for going back to that post to prove how little you care though.

Previous years Samsung phones did have microstutters here and there and there was some lag, there is no doubt about it. However they have been getting better every year and the S7 was pretty damn good, there were some occasional microstutters and it did slow a little over time but it was very close to getting to iOS levels of smoothness. The S8 has not only reached that level it has passed it, it is an extremely fast and smooth phone and mine is getting faster with each update. Its time to quit the constant Samsung hate and realise the S8 and the Note 8 are brilliant phones.

Every year is the year it’s fixed. Project butter wasn’t even the start of that meme.

Ok my S8 lags.... Are you happy now? Quit the trolling dude. I just explained how they have been getting better each year, some people may not have not had any lag on their S7 and have said the lag is fixed which could explain what you are saying. However if you look at the big S8 thread on here the majority of owners are reporting a very smooth phone, and yes its smoother then your iPhone ;) And honestly if you don't even own a samsung phone why are you in this thread? Go an enjoy your iPhone and quit stirring the pot.

Careful, MacRumors is deleting any comments related to the Note 7’s fiery debacle. Makes you wonder about their motivation...
Not really; it's just that how many times can you laugh at some moron thinking they're funny making a joke that's been made on this site hundreds of times.

You must be kidding, If you have used IOS you will definitely hate android whatever is on the outside
I used iOS and I hate it. It's simplistic, limited and cumbersome. I like Android, quite a lot. For me it's a much better smartphone OS.

This phone does look awesome - I've thought it would be awesome to have a Note since like the 3, but I would have a difficult time switching back from iOS anymore

I wouldn't change as I use my iPad and iPhone for synth and music apps and they just dont seem to be any good on Android, last time I had a play on my nephews Samsung a few months back jther ust wasn't the breath of choice, quality and terrible lag too. Please feel free to correct me any android musos out there as i couldn't see the korg or moog ones etc that iOS has...

Indeed both of our comments are our opinions. No bandwagon here. I have used Android phones and it is a terrible experience compared to Apple’s products.
I use both on a daily basis (work phone/private phone). Have also used Macs at work every single work day since 1998 while all the time having a PC for home use.

The claim that one or the other is somewhat superior really blows my mind. Those kind of statements says a lot about the users unwillingness to do any kind of effort to learn stuff. any PC/Mac/iPhone/Android phone does absolutely everything 99,9% of users need.

I really wonder how these entrenched people react when new routines or systems are introduced in the workplace. Can't imagine it being anything but a total nightmare for those responsible for implementing the new workflow.
