Has anyone downloaded custom themes from the theme store yet!? I'm curious if you download a dark theme, if the notifications in the panel are also dark. I know back when I had the S8, they would still be white, along with other white elements that just made dark themes so inconsistent.

For example, my pixel dark theme below. Bugs the crap out of me.

Using the stock dark theme (night mode) on my S10e makes some of my notifications dark too. Some don't (such as YouTube notifications) , but most are.

To add, there are a couple of things that the iPhone does and does well:

- Consistency in all notifications. My Ring app will vibrate 4 times and there is absolutely no way to change this when I only want it to vibrate once
- Some elements are better polished such as some apps

However, this s10+ black ceramic is a beautiful beast of a phone and the possibilities are endless. I love the hardware and the screen is pretty incredible. But I just can't help but feel I am missing something by not using my iPhone and I don't understand why I feel like that.

Seems it takes a while for iPhone users to let go. Don't know why.

Just FYI, if you've used a Pixel 2 or 3 and liked the fabric cases, Verizon has one for the S10 that feels very much like them and is great quality. Clicky buttons and all

So it has been a good 2 days usage with the S10 now, and I still face the dilemma of which to keep between it and my iPhone XR.

At the moment, the 'honeymoon' period with the S10 makes the niggles fade away slightly, but I know over time there's only so much it's incredible display and feel when I pick it up and gaze at it are going to get away with.

I will start with my likes:

• Design. Don't need to say too much more. It's gorgeous.
• Screen - again, don't need to elaborate. Sublime. Love the hole punch, lets me be creative with wallpapers - always a bonus!
• Fast charging in the box - coming from an iPhone this is amazing.
• Customisation - there is SO much this phone lets you do. It's staggering. I've always enjoyed that Android is open to personalisation, but this is on another level. I have to take my hat off to Samsung for all of the ways they let you make the device work exactly how you want it.
• Battery life - seems fantastic. I'm on the smaller S10, but already I know the battery is stellar.
• Samsung's browser - always been amazing.
• Camera - not had chance to test this too extensively, but am impressed with the very little I have seen so far.
• Price. For a flagship, it is reasonable in my eyes. But that's when compared to the Pixel 3 and iPhone XS. Really, the Pixel 3 is the odd one out here as comparing that phone (camera aside) to the XS and S10, Google have a nerve with that retail price.

Dislikes:

• Too much choice. Hate to say it really, but there is. I know there are things that I just won't use which alleviates the choice somewhat, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming and almost as if I need to check everything out.
• Bugs. Yup, I've had them. More than I would like for a pretty fresh out of the box phone. I've had app crashes, I've had an app just close on me randomly, and today 'Good Lock' has been ridiculous. Created my own lock screen and the clock would not change despite me changing it and applying the screen to the device. The old clock just stayed there. It moved to where I wanted it to move to, but it never saved. I restarted the phone, applied again - same thing. I've added several new lock screens and all of them stick with the same clock. Also had an issue where the app would open, and just crash on me. Had to reset the phone to sort it out.
• Granted, I am using a third party launcher, but not sure if that's why and it shouldn't really make a difference.
• Scrolling. Android scrolling has always been an issue for me. On iPhone the scrolling is perfect through apps like Insta, Safari etc. With the S10 the scrolling is just not a great experience. That's one that niggles me more as time goes by too.
• Apps - I've said it before so no surprise, but I just think some of the iOS apps that I use look better on an iPhone. And perform better. Biggest one being my banking app, along with the BMW app which has nowhere near as many options as the iOS one for my car.

Overall, I am not sure where I am at with my decision. The big test will be the upcoming week as I start to use the S10 in every day use. Being at home with it all weekend and having it glued to my hand and running tests on it is not exactly every day useage for me ha, so will be interesting to see how I get on with it.

For the record, I really really like the S10, but there are compromises to using it for me whereas with the iPhone, the only compromise that actually irks me is customisation. The day to day useage of it for my personal needs is flawless and the Watch paired with it makes for an incredible experience. Much more polish and overall - seamless.

Android has had these before the iPhone had them. I've used a Galaxy S series for years with work, and until I unlock it, it will say "content is hidden". Then it will show it.

Yes it does. Because it's redundant to use unlock just to see a notification's details while in the lock screen, when you can just unlock to view it in from the home screen.

Figured out my odd Google Music issue, it is because my files are ALAC. Didn't remember the app won't play them. Thanks Apple. Reconverting to FLAC works.

Anyone having problems with backup to Google Drive? I still can't manually back up and it didn't back up overnight. I'm on Verizon. Not sure why my Pixel works but S10 doesn't.

So how is everyone finding the ultrasonic FPS after a few days of use? There was a fair amount of criticism torwards it initially and im interested to see if things have improved. Personally I'm still finding it to work near flawlessly.

Is it correct that if you download the google camera you can get night mode on a Samsung phone? I was reading this on android central.

The dark mode is really nice. I always thought dark mode was a pointless feature but I really like it on my husband’s note 8. I’ve been fiddling about with my husband’s phone so much lol I’ve left the guestures turned on and he hasn’t complained so I think they must be pretty simple to use for anyone.

Main advantage for dark mode on OLED screens is the battery saving you get. I had this with the s7, almost doubled my battery life with the right dark mode.

You can download other themes from the theme store and create a true dark mode with some fun colours for that extra pop

My X is running a jailbreak with Noctis and Eclipse and likewise I get about 30% more battery life than I did before. It's significant

Not sure about the camera though. I don't doubt the software benefits would be there but there's an element of hardware processing that the pixel 3 series has so I'm not sure it would be "the same". The galaxy s10 has two apertures on the main shooter that make night time shots look nicer than what you'd see on the latest iPhones, but this is mostly unchanged from last year's s9 from my shots

I am glad I am not the only one with thoughts about sticking with what I have. I think I might FOMO by sticking with the iPhone to an extent because of the depreciation aspect and that the phone works much better.

My iPhone has signal problems too and normal texts don’t send in a timely fashion. I guess iMessage masks that since it’s so huge in the US? I am going to use the S10e for a week to see if I am comfortable making a permanent move to Samsung.

FaceID is so good that it’s hard to give it up in favor of the S10e’s biometrics.

If you download good lock and then quick star, you can custom build that area of your screen so you can have the colors you want, black background, etc. And black background for notifications

Thanks both. I get that, I was just outlining that on iOS with FaceID, I love how it will show a new email notification but when you glance at the screen it will then show you a preview of the content and the name of the sender.

In Android, it can show an icon, a brief or detailed overview of the notification but anyone that picks up your phone will see your notification details depending on the setting applied.

Apple call this Attention Preview or something like that.

I'm thinking of just having two lines, one business as one personal, using the S10+ as the business line and keep my iPhone xs max as my personal but would mean carrying two phones.

It’s 18:00 here and I have about 38% left on my S10 plus and took it off charge at 9am. So hoping it lasts me the rest of evening as I visit the parents. The standby time is far better than I remember last time I had a Samsung...very much on par with my max if not better.

Funny, I'm at the exact same percentage and I took it off the wireless charger at 9am to let the puppy out! I've enabled Night Mode permanently and, I'm currently at 39% battery with 6h19m SOT.
