I had my GS7 for 20-22 months. Maybe I did get 7.0 and just don't remember. I just don't see big differences in the softwares. Just looks a little different. But then I'm not really into phones like some here. I can keep mine for two years easy and always only have 1 lol. I don't care about benchmarks or what chip it's using.
What Apple does is irrelevent to me. They can update 9 times a year but it still will be behind in software and still isn't as open / customisable and do what Android can do.
Huge performance leap from 6 to 7.
Fuchsia is probably going to come as a replacement to Android. Not a lot about it is known, though. It should fix whatever issues Android has.
Technically, Google may try to go down the Apple path in the future with direct updates, and the OEM layer can install on top of it once carriers can certify the Android version. The reality is there's next to nothing OEM wise that a carrier needs to check out. It's merely a UI layer on top of Android. The base Android operates the phone and its internal components. And very few parts of the OS need to communicate with the radios systems on a phone.
The gravity of the situation is that Google ****ed up and ****ed up big time a decade plus ago when they decided what OEMs would do.
Once Qualcomm is placed aside a lot more headaches will go away. Whether Google comes out with a SoC or Qualcomm sees their empire chipped away by OEMs with manufacturing capabilities (think SoC, image processors, TPUs, et al.) or they're done away with a manufactured problem that won't come to light until years later and causes them irreparable harm in infrastructure and monetary means.

@Zenithal I will be sending in the S9+. I'm a bit nervous about it because it's a perfect specimen and once it's gone ..it's gone. If they send me a lemon and I send it back I won't get back the S9+ nor get to apply it's value to a replacement, if I understand the terms correctly. So I best rigorously test the new phone before sending in the S9+.
I like the way Google does these trades better but Google doesn't offer as much money for trades.
My entire family is voting for the rose gold watch. I remain undecided.
I don't think you'll get a lemon. Though I understand the issue with giving a phone up. It's a piece of you. Probably why I keep every phone I've ever had. As in the last 30ish years unless it wasn't my property. As for the rose gold, what's the holdup? The color and how it'll match or...? Rose gold has been used in fashion and jewelry for a long time. It only gained more prominence in the last fifteen or so years. I've even pondered buying a rose gold Omega. Done right, it looks less pink and more earthy in tone. Depends on the metallurgy of the piece.
Edit: Oh, wait, was the lemon comment tongue-in-cheek humor for the canary yellow S10e?

Yeah, won't deny that at all. I've never liked how Apple introduce features so late to their devices. No one gives a damn about emojis or stickers.
