Yeah, not sure why Qualcomm was having problems with what is essentially an off the shelf design. Aside from differences in scheduler and GPU the parts are (pretty much) the same (though I guess the 810 is a process node behind, maybe that is the issue).

Yeah, not sure why Qualcomm was having problems with what is essentially an off the shelf design. Aside from differences in scheduler and GPU the parts are (pretty much) the same (though I guess the 810 is a process node behind, maybe that is the issue).
It works with more devices than they officially claim. From my experience it works with Note II and 3. Others have success with Note 4 so there's a chance it'll also work with S6/Edge.
I don't buy any of the heat rumors with the 810. In fact, I think it's straight fud distributed from Samsung's camp. I've used the flex 2 and it doesn't get any warmer than the other devices I've used. All of the reviews mention nothing of heat problems. The m9 doesn't have any heat issues either.
And wait until iOS 8.3 is released. Performance has been EXCELLENT, like iOS 6 good, since I installed beta 4 earlier today.
S6 is still a nice phone though. 2K resolution on a 5.1" display is just massive overkill though in my opinion. But surprisingly the S6 (and Edge) both get better battery life than the HTC One M9, even with all the extra pixels.

That's because with firmware updates the devices are throttling clocks a lot more to keep it from over heating.the s810 benchmarks have all dropped down with the updated micky mouse tricks to keep the device cool.
Even the LG g4 is not going to use the 810 it's using the s808 witch is a 6 core version of the 810.
Please Mr smarty pants why did lg skip the 810 on its 2015 FLAGSHIP phone and go with the 808?
Please also explain the huge increase in geekbench scores when people put the m9 I'm a freezer and run the bench?

There were tons of complaints about the iPhone 5 running hot as well at one point.
A device running hot isn't necessarily overheating but it's not exactly desirable either due to throttling.
Now in fairness...
1 example in isolation which subsequently was fixed via an update and the site didn't experience it again.
That in fairness would struggle to make a scientific example.
It is certainly not something to be held up as proof of validation. Its far too tenable an example and one that even the site reported had been fixed for them.
I do think there is a lot of FUD going on regarding the 810. There are a ton of claims and accusations but very little real evidence to substantiate them.

That being said it doesn't really have anything to do with the thread subject.
Regarding that, synthetic benchmarks are rarely ever a real indication of a devices performance in real world usage.
Reviews have all stated the s6 can play anything thrown at it graphically. That in its own way basically makes the whole angle of attack intended by this thread mute.

Is the S6 an OLED screen? That's likely why. OLED displays are drool-worthy. My next TV will be an OLED. No question.
Oh, the difference is not as big as A-insider tries to make them. They also cherry pick the ones where the S6 looks worst - there are several where it is way faster than the 6S.
The test they link to (GFXBench 3.0 - Manhattan) have the following numbers:
Galaxy S6 (2560x1440): 15.8 fps
Iphone 6S (1920x1080): 19.2 fps
I would say that a 3,4 fps difference between rendering to a 3,7mp and a 2,1 mp screen is quite impressive actually.
S6 and S6 Edge are getting crowned as the best mobile gaming devices out even compared to iPhones so it's settled.

I am always skeptical about such proclamations.
Either way the S6 is Samsung's most "lifestyle oriented" device yet.

Payment system
Compact and light
Highly ergonomic
Smooth biometric security

It has all the on-paper specs to trump the iPhone as a lifestyle product, but the proof is always in the usage and experience, not the spec sheet.
To me, it's the phone of the year. The only thing lacking is a Google Play Edition.
The S6 (in both variations) is a beast, no doubt about that.
The only other phone that might trump it this year is probably the Note 5.
The Note-series (although primarily aimed at a different market, but loved by lots of people that do not necessarily need the business-like features) always steps things up quite a bit compared to the previous S- version.
