My Pixel 2 is with me, but dead. I thought it was charging last night, but when I pulled it off the charger it was dead. I don’t know yet if there was a problem with the phone or the charger got pulled somewhat loose from the outlet. I’ll troubleshoot when I get to my destination.
Edit: My husband got it on a charger in the car. The Pixel 2 is awake and ready to go! Whew!
We are going to be less an iPhone SE. I went to pack my mother-in-law’s iPhone 5s and found it was exploded. The battery had swelled and all the parts were pushed apart. 😱 So she’s getting my daughter’s SE. Mine was left at home and will go to my daughter. Otherwise I would given up mine on the spot. I love that SE and it’s been on lots of adventures with me in California and Arizona. But it’s meant to be working for someone, and so it shall.

Doubt it. Samsung wants to play safe with the battery and I'm not expecting a huge change from the Note 8.

It seems more like for the past several years, Samsung has been fixing consumer criticisms step by step. And the battery is probably one of the last most talked about criticisms left. So I wouldn't be surprised if we get a bigger battery with the Note 9.
A Note 9 with a 3800-4000mAh battery, S-Pen, plus everything the S9+ has .........equals damn near a perfect device. And they could throw in 128gb standard globally just to make sure it sells. Also, a slight chance for 8gb ram, but they will most likely save that for the S10.
True but I was talking about the main flagship models that kept the same battery size for years.

I believe they are going to increase the battery on the S10. Don't expect much change on thr Note 9 just like it has been since the Note 5 compared to the S line.

Huawei will never come close to passing Samsung in that regard and i doubt the size of the battery is what the average user looks at. It isnt the first thing i looked at with the S9. I already decided i was going to get it before i checked to see how big it was compared to my S7.

Unfortunately timely security update delivery doesn't seem to be one of those things. I'd like to try a Huawei flagship's camera, but what I've read about the software and how Huawei keeps it up-to-date (or more precisely how they don't), I know I'd move my SIM away from the phone all too soon.

I have had my S9 for about 3 weeks and here are a few observations. I am coming from a iPhone 8, so I am used to everything working pretty smooth. The S9 is a great device that has the perfect ergonomics, speed, and build. I have tried to make Android my daily driver for the last few years, but always seen to revert to my apple devices due to my OCD for having things work in harmony. This S9 has answered the call except for a few a few annoyances. 1. The inability to get badge count for "Words with Friends" and 2. The integration of music playing in my vehicle. With my iPhone 8, its plays through my blue tooth automatically. The S9 requires me to press the Media Button on my Radio to hear music. Also, when I want to play music with Spotify and Google Music, it always plays a playlist instead of the music Library. Apple Music was about as seamless as you can get for playing your music. If anyone has any recommendations on these slight annoyances, I would greatly appreciate the help.

I would not assume its the S9/Android fault as it could equally be poor implementation by others.
EG I would check the forums on your car and updates for other 3rd party software
Exactly, my S9+ auto connects to and plays music automatically with no problem. The same with previous Samsung and Android devices.
I don't play music in my car very often and when I do I just use the Sirius radio in it. I am usually shuttling kids around and they all like different genres, so we just talk during our rides. However, I do have Apple Music app installed on my Samsung. Doesn't it work the same for you on the Samsung as it does on an iPhone? In terms of how it works in your car, I mean.
Seriously if Samsung drop a 4000mah battery on a phone its an automatic purchase for me. They have perfected everything else. With how smooth the S9 runs I really have no reason to switch to a pure android phone like the Pixel either, sure the pixel will get updates right away but the Samsung phones have far more features even with the lack of updates.

Well, if you prefer to stream music/podcasts as many of us do using any of the music services or an app like Pocket Casts, a USB stick won't cover those needs. And yes, voice control, even with one as deficient as Siri, still makes controlling the phone much easier, especially when driving as we really shouldn't be looking at our phones. 😉
Ugh I have cropped and cropped and still can't get the forum to accept my picture.
Anyway I am so thrilled. In all my years of trying to get nice pictures of the full moon over the ocean using even real cameras I have never been successful at getting such a nice one (not with my horrid photography skills) until this S9+
I am so happy!
Edit to add I was even able to get a decent one last night. My Pixel 2 and my husband's iPhone X got a noisy soup.

Yeah I get the streaming thing but I tend to listen to whole albums @ 320 so streaming isn't for me.
Unless you can stream @ 320 or above?
Anyway, you answered my question, I'll just stick to my stick 🙂
As for looking at my phone, it stays in my pocket and I'll take the odd call using handsfree built into the factory head unit and steering wheel.

Agreed. The s9 speakers are significantly louder and clearer than my Note 8, S7 Edge.

I goofed up embedding the image but at least the link works. The picture seems to have lost some quality or maybe I accidentally uploaded one of the ones I cropped to put directly to this form but y'all can get the general idea.
I tried taking the same pic with my own iPhone 8 Plus and the result was just sad. The Pixel 2 was close but a bit noisy in comparison.
This phone is just the complete package as far as I'm concerned. It does burn through battery faster than my S8+ did so I do wish for a bigger battery. As far as everything else goes, it can drop the mic and collect the applause.
It's not like I'm outta battery here after a full day of use. I've got 58% left and I'm ready to go to bed. I've taken 30 minutes of video and spent half an hour using a photo editing app. I've read. Texted. Taken pictures. Surfed the web. Posted on the forum.
I will continue to check it against the Pixel and see how it maintains smoothness, speed and fluidity against a stock Android phone as the year progresses.
For now it's amazing me. It's gorgeous. It's got a stunning display that I can configure to my tastes and can also be made very accurate. It's got a headphone jack which I love using. It's got an FM radio. It's got an OS that is a joy to use.
It's got the best danged automatic point and shoot camera I've ever owned. The Pixel 2 comes so very close and handles a few dynamic range challenges a bit better but this is a better all around camera IN MY OPINION and only for my uses...I don't have the audacity to declare that as an absolute for everyone.
It's got health monitoring capabilities that are quite good.
I really was not expecting to have my socks knocked off by this phone. My S8+ was a disappointment to me. Note 7 had broken my heart. So I wasn't expecting much at all. I saw the trade in deal and decided, ah, what the hell, let's give Samsung one more chance. I'd passed on the Note 8. I was and still am very excited about the Pixel 2. I wasn't getting my hopes up to anything in particular.
Everytime I see the negativity over on a certain Android oriented site against this phone, calling it a disappointing or unexciting upgrade I just shake my head and wonder if they were hoping for Fabio-on-a-Unicorn levels of different. I can't speak for everyone or even one other person and what their expectations might be. But this phone well exceeds anything I could have hoped for out of Samsung. I will even forgive them for not giving my country more than 64 GB of onboard storage.
Let me see if I can do this right. I may need a few tries here to get the right kind of code.

Wow... very nice pic!!!
Here is a fun S9 picture test. I was at the park, and seen a person out doing some nature shots with her DSLR, and turned to see the sun shining bright through trees in background, followed by a yellow fern tree, and then tall wheat colored grass in the foreground. I couldn't see anything but the sun light. I took my S9+ out, and went into Camera Pro-mode settings, and set it to give me a jpg + raw file so I can play with the raw file in Adobe Lightroom when I got home. Everything was a silhouette in front of the bright sun, so I pointed the camera directly at the sun. I tried to focus on something in the dark foreground, but couldn't see anything... I just snapped a pic anyway and emailed the raw file to myself.
After playing with the Raw file in Lightroom, I was able to recover the foreground colors or the green trees, yellow fern leaves, and the wheat colored tall grass.... while still retaining the Sun light and sky as it was captured on the S9 camera. Here is the before and after animated pic...
Not as quality as the pics I get from my Sony A7riii, but still pretty cool. 😎
Exynos version pretty much on par with the Snapdragon in regards to battery life 🙂

Holds its own amongst the others too..
I notice the people staying the Exynos version has a terrible battery, aren't really backing it up with anything tangible except benchmark graphs and anecdotal evidence.
A majority of the usage videos show a different story all together, though I must add I saw one video where the Exynos version did seem to noticably loose more battery life according to the battery icon ( one had percentage on the other off, annoyingly) but wasn't mentioned by the Vid uploader and there were cutscreens.

I'm now trying to figure out how to go about making the transition to the S9+ as my main phone.
I don't know if it can be done this school year. It would also mess up my Apple Watch LTE account and number sync. 🙁 But it may be time to let that go and turn off the LTE line. I don't know. I could still use the watch via Bluetooth for swimming this summer.
I would just move everything on over to the number I'm currently using for the S9+, as that would be the path of least resistance, but I am getting my iOS phone line for free because AT&T was atoning for a horrid customer service incident.
At some point I am going to close down the line my S9+ is currently on. So... somehow I have to extricate my main number from imessage group chats. This is going to be a nightmare. 🙄
Meanwhile in iOS land, I got a nasty wakeup call as to how sloppy things have gotten inside of the walled garden. I can't say it's a deal breaker between me and iOS because I know they're constantly working to improve things for customers. But right at this snapshot of a particular moment in time, I'm in customer service limbo over an in app purchase for Animal Crossing.
I got charged, but due to some connection error that suddenly popped up I didn't get the game currency I purchased. That in itself should be no big deal. It's the hot mess I'm being put through to try and fix it that's been eye opening for me.😕 Their interface sucks. If you look at the email receipt it looks like a simple matter of clicking on the transaction itself to report a problem. It appears to be the elegant simplicity one would expect of Apple.
Problem is, it takes me to a dead end of some sort of failed search window...after forcing me through entering two factor authentication codes and log ins that pop up like a dash of cold water to the face. I appreciate that Apple is trying to keep our accounts secure but it's an impediment to navigation. 🙁
I did find a link that should let me report the erroneous transaction, but not enough info is displayed to ensure I'm reporting the exact one that went awry. There's no transaction date given and the information is truncated in the extreme. There is no way to click to expand the transaction information. 😡
It just may be the case I need to fix this on an actual desktop computer interface. If so, that's lame.
On top of that, some onscreen controls don't do what they say they are supposed to do. I've never seen a more confusing mess. This is utterly shocking from a technology company and indicative of the sloppiness and convolutions they're allowing to creep into everything these days. I'm going to have to wait for my husband to get back from church with his family to get it sorted on his laptop computer I suppose.
Sorry for the digression, but it's just a slice of life that indicates the sorts of things that can drive a very devoted Apple fan down a different path I once never would have dreamed of taking. I'm not one to bash Tim Cook. I think he's the best Apple could have. But I do miss Steve Jobs.
