The have just announced this.. blurb from the media:

There are two watch-face sizes to choose from: 40mm and 44mm. The 44mm model weighs in at 30g, and has a 1.4in Super AMOLED always-on display with a resolution of 360 x 360. Inside you’ll find a 340mAh battery, and a dual-core Exynos 9110 chipset. The 44mm model will connect to your phone via bluetooth, and will also offer LTE connectivity for when you don’t want to carry your phone around. If you ever feel that way.

The 40mm model differs only in the ways you’d expect: the display is only 1.2in, and the battery, 247mAh. It also weighs a little less, at 26g. As the cheaper option, the smaller model will only connect to your smartphone via bluetooth. Both models run the same Exynos chip, and Samsung’s Tizen smartwatch OS; they also both have 4GB of on-board storage.

Both watches are bristling with sensors. Chief among these is an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor, but there’s also a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope and barometer. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 charges wirelessly via WPC, and is IP68 water-resistance rated.

The rotating bezel found on the Galaxy Gear watches of yore is back, with a twist: it's all-digital, meaning there's no mechanical movement to fiddle with. Navigating menus is now done by sliding the virtual bezel clockwise or anti-clockwise.

You’ll be able to pick up the Watch Active 2 in aluminium or stainless steel: the aluminium variant comes in Silver, Aqua Black or Pink Gold with a plastic strap, while the stainless steel model comes in silver, black or gold with a leather strap.

You can get your hands (or wrists) on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 on 27 September in the US. We’ll update with UK pricing and availability as soon as it becomes available.

I am interested.. release timing is good as it gives me a chance to review Apple's offering in early September before making my decision! :)

Glad to see they made a bigger size! the 40mm Active was too small for me but 44mm is pretty much the perfect size for me. I may have to try it out.

Glad I didn't just pull the trigger on the samsung watch 46mm. Will wait and check the 44mm new 1 first

Definitely will be looking into this watch once it releases. I’m trying to move away from Apple and the Apple Watch is currently what is holding me back the most.

This is a really good looking watch, especially in stainless steel with a tan leather strap. Just watched the cringe filled Engadget hands on video. The hands on reviewer couldn't help himself from making one snarky comment or eye roll after the next, when talking about features. Just as one example, he completely dismissed the feature for being able to play YouTube videos on the watch with an eye roll and snarky comment. Yet I've seen this guy go on about being able to listen to podcast with Bluetooth headphones in his Apple Watch 4 review. Not a single snarky comment or eye roll in that review. So I'm guessing he doesn't think people with the LTE GWA2 wanting to listen to YouTube podcast or news channels with their Bluetooth headphones as well? Not everyone uses paid streaming services, so YouTube is a great source for steaming news and audio. I've never really paid attention to the blatant Apple media bias, because I've always been a loyal Apple user. My oh my how times have changed. lol.

I mean why not have the feature. I’d like to see how useful it is before I write it off. However I’ve always been of the opinion it’s better to have it and not use it than not have it at all.

Pre-orders are alive (in the UK at least).. with a decent gift I may add!?

At least this time the prices make more sense than the OG Galaxy Watch Active..

These do have one big up over the Apple Watch - they support data roaming. This is getting to be a major issue for me as I live pretty much 80/20% in two countries and the 20% one is where I need to have my phone and data contracts. Meaning that 80% of the time I'd be roaming, making the cellular connection on my AW pretty much useless.

So, I'm holding my breath to see if Apple's September presentation includes watches that do support roaming. If not, I might soon be taking a longer look at one of these. And the right Android phone to go with it...

Just wish they'd offer a square watch as well as I really prefer reading all text on a square screen over a round one.

By the way, does anyone here have experience with using a Galaxy watch with a non-Samsung phone and if so what does one miss out on?

4G versions (SS) for both 40mm and 44mm sizes are available for preorder, they are £399 and £419 respectively?

So just preordered the bluetooth only 44mm in black.. got 10% off as well so happy days!

Looking forward to the 20th now..

Can anyone advise what size the Galaxy Sport is and the Galaxy Active 1?

Galaxy Sport is a nice size, Galaxy Active 1 is a bit small. Want to make sure I order the correct size Active 2!

I think the Active 1 is 40mm. No idea about the Galaxy Sport - sorry.
[doublepost=1567516648][/doublepost]So I'm thinking of getting an Active 2 for my first smart watch. Unfortunately it seems like the UK is not getting the Silver SS LTE version which would have been my first choice.

Has anyone seen the Black SS version in person? How metallic does it look? I really don't want something that looks like a £10 piece of plastic.

What's the likelihood of the UK getting the silver version a couple of months after the initial release?

Just had a play in store with a 44mm GWA2 and did a side by side with a 46mm Galaxy Watch.

I have to say all my apprehension is gone.. I'm very happy with my GWA2 preorder now! The digital bezel is actually cool and the screen seems much improved than previous generations.

The 44mm size is perfect with a nice fit and next to the older bulky Galaxy Watch, the GWA2 looks much more modern and slick!

Looking forward to the end of week now when I get my hands on my own GWA2!

So my GWA2 delivery date was tomorrow, i.e. 20th however just received an email from Very telling me the UK launch has been delayed by a week by Samsung and delivery now will be the 27th!? Hmm..

Waiting to be able to order LTE version to use with my 10+. I don’t want to buy through a carrier and am hoping to buy from a third party or Samsung. I also need to go somewhere to see sizing in person to decide between 40 and 44 for female wrist. I had the Gear S3 and the size never bothered me but for Apple Watch 4 I went with smaller size.

I pre-ordered with Amazon on the 4th September. On 20th when it was due to be delivered I got an email from Aamzon saying they have no stock and not sure when it would be back in to dispatch.

Went to the Samsung site and they had it in stock for next day delivery, so ordered with them. Only downside, was I missed the cut off for the pre-order by purchasing from Samsung. Complained to Amazon about this and they gave me a £90 gift card to purchase the charging pad!

Received my GWA2 yesterday and have been using it since then.. initial thoughts below..

Firstly, there was only a USB charging pod (you will need your own wall adaptor) and the watch itself in the box with no plastic protection.. nothing else not even a spare strap as earlier models.

Nevertheless, the GWA2 in person and on wrist is a damn looker for sure.. much more sleeker than the bulky original Galaxy Watch.. I love the aesthetics!

The One UI software experience is similar to the GWA.. but a little more polished now.. but that digital bezel is surreal!

In terms of sensors.. everything seems much more accurate than ever before (including heart rate, step count, floors (finally))!

Battery life seems very promising so far.

Those are my initial thoughts.. :)
