You put a big phone in a pocket not big enough resulting in excessive pressure. Who would have thought enough pressure could break a phone?

SHOCKER: In related news the new iPhone will break when used as a hammer or when subjected to explosives.

Don't you think Apple should make their phones strong enough to withstand normal usage & environments - rather than users having to change their clothes or behaviour to suit Apple's increasingly fragile designs? Particularly given how much Apple boast about their design skills and materials research.

Whatever happened to the dare i say it "COOL" Apple that was taking jabs at all the competition with similar ads? All they do now is stay quiet and pretend the whole world isn't mocking them at every turn.

This Holier than thou stance that Apple has been taking is really pi##ing me off. They need to pull their heads out of their a#ses and fire back a few.

Why? Right now, most iPhone 6 users have not heard about bending issues (whig I think are way overblown) so why bother to make it a big deal? All that does is add legitimacy to the attacks and allow them to reach a wider audience.

As for bending, the original bend video shows it takes a lot of force to bend one although the exact amount is unknown since it wasn't done using a test rig. I'd bet applying a similar amount of force to other phones would bend or break them as well.

Finally, yes, if you sit on your phone you risk damaging it.

Cooler heads will prevail. Besides that is just trashy. Apple is not trashy. Let the lesser than's have their stupid smear commercials.

As the noise from this issue gets louder(now that news is exposing this issue), Apple will need to confront it.
If they were smart, they would preemptively provide a statement or guideline on placing your 6/6+.

The longer they wait, the more this could turn out to be a fiasco like the antenna issue.

The silence is deafening.

Figured they'd jump onto the bandwagon, but why not I guess. They succeeded in making stronger phones than the iPhone 6 so there is no reason not to tell the world and capitalize on it.

Twitter overall is very immature and if #gamergate told me anything, its that even the smallest of issues can become controversial 'trends.' This #bendgate is a little premature perhaps since very few people have actually complained, but there is no denying from what I've seen on YouTube that the iPhone 6 is not as durable or as strong as the competition.

It is undeniably funny though.

What a load of BS.

1. I sit on my 4S all the time and it's fine. Steel and thick gorilla glass do not bend or break from daily use. I have no idea where I'd carry a phone if not in my pockets since I do not and will not carry a purse.

2. How could Apple have know to test the durability of a mobile phone in a pocket? Good God man, listen to yourself!

3. Technically an oversite? Again, where are we supposed to stow these phones when we walk around? Not every shirt has a special smart phone pocket, so what do we use? Purses and fanny packs? Hold it in a hand all the time?

4. It's common sense that a thin aluminum device is fragile, yet you wonder how Apple would have know to test the durability of such a device?

This fanboy apologism is so flagrant and disgusting it's beyond words. I cannot believe people would enslave themselves to a company in such a way, and I say this as someone who has used Macs since the 80s and never owned a Windows computer in my life.

I think you entirely missed the point of my post, but that's ok I am well aware that people on this forum lack basic comprehension skills...

Sounds like you have no answer, so you resort to personal attack.

Questions about bending

Hmmm read what you replied and then think about how many billions Apple has to fortify their devices so that stupid stuff like phones bending in pockets doesn't happen.

Not sure you went back and read your post that I replied to. Here it is again for you:
"People have been putting phones in their pockets since they were small enough to do so."

Perhaps the iP6+ is not "small enough to do so". Does that help you understand my reply?

Its all about choice, if you want a huge, THIN, aluminum device, maybe you need to understand that perhaps such a device is not your best option if you are going to pocket it. Perhaps a smaller, thicker device may be better suited. Common since needs to come into play sometimes. This whole topic is total bunk anyway.

I understood your point quite well, however, since these phones DO actually fit in pockets, I will continue to hold Apple responsible for the issues with the 6+ instead of expecting consumers to change their behaviour. The company currently rolling in dough can change *their* manufacturing process instead.

And by the way, I have a 6 so this doesn't even impact me. I'm just tired of ridiculous fanboyism in regards to this topic.

He just tried to get more views. Given the popularity of the new Iphone, anything that is Iphone6-related would easily get people attention.

----------

They combined to sell more than 50% of world's smartphones, much more than Apple does in a year.
It should be well known by now that Apple sells most during the initial launch. 10million in 3 days doesn't equate to 300million this Q.
And a lots of those phone are crap. Apple has its target markets and try to dominate those. Like Ferrari vs Toyota or Whole Foods vs. Walmart. If you buy a Ferrari, you should expect to spend more on maintenance vs a Toyota. If the two car hit head to head, guess what will cost more to fix? Would this prevent people from buying Ferrari if they can afford it and like it. Are they stupid or some type of fanboy? Grow up and happy with what you have. If you don't like Iphone, then buy something else and be happy with your choice.

Apple will not sacrify their quality for quantity. They never did and I doubt I would ever do it in the future. That's how they set themselves aprat from others, and that's why anything Apple-related gets so much media attention. Losers always whine.

This was expected... this is going to be a hard time to be a Apple fan.

But seriously though, how hard is it to take out your iPhone when you sit down. The phone only bends if you are sitting for long periods. Sitting down with a iPhone 6 Plus is uncomfortable if anything. Who drives with an iPhone in there pocket for long distances, just take it out and put it somewhere in the car.

I agree! If you buy an expensive cell phone, why on earth would you keep it in your pocket?!

Mainly because it will die down pretty quickly. A few days on CCN.com and then pushed off the page; plus Consumer Reports basically said "it's not an issue." so that is getting play now.

Waiting for all the fake attorneys to come to Apple's defense how its not their fault and they shouldn't put a phone in their pocket because they wear skinny jeans!

3...2...1...

BTW: I love Apple and own an iPhone 6 and will rarely defend anyone other than my REAL family, not my "Apple family". Just saying.

I was waiting for the first fandroid-esque "here it comes in 3,2,1" comment. You win the captain obvious award for this thread!
