I'm just surprised how Samsung just doubled down on copying the Apple Watch Ultra. But not so surprised.

THAT BEING SAID, the Samsung Watch Ultra seems to have far better battery life, which is good. As a serious athlete, the Apple Watch Ultra's battery life endurance leaves much to be desired.
You manage to deplete the battery in one day? Or what do you mean?

Foldables are nice and all, but a complete no-go unless they figure out their durability issues. My Brother's wife has already gone through 3 Z-Flips and she's only been using them for maybe 2 years.

My Ultra 2 has died in a less than 8 hours for me on a long 14-mile hike in winter/blizzard conditions (at 13k ft. elevation) (conditions Apple says the watch is rated for), with LTE and all fitness tracking/backtrack enabled.

Granted this is in extremely rough conditions, but this would not be the case with a Garmin or the Samsung Watch Ultra by the looks of it.

competition is a good thing ...
the resemblance of the new Ultra to the AW Ultra is - remarkable ... I will say that the black casing looks nice.

And for the ring - $400. So all those who have been wanting for Apple to release one, the Apple ring would start at $450 ;)

It amazes me that they are actually allowed to get away with such blatant unapologetic plagiarism.

It's beyond embarrassing.
Well then apple should sue them, but I bet on anything that they won't.

There’s a difference between Imitate and Steal. A bad artist imitates and a great artist steals. These are merely an imitation, and says a lot about Samsung and innovation. They have a lot of technical knowhow, but they copy copy copy. When was the last time they came up with a genuine idea outside of the lab?
That's quite an exaggeration.
It's funny how for a few similarities when it comes to Samsung it's just "copy copy copy" and when it comes to Apple "it's their artistic take on it".

Also, regarding innovations, Samsung just showed devices and features that Apple doesn't offer (the hardware on the Fold 6 looks better than ever) and also AI stuff Apple currently have in development because they are behind and will offer in Beta for by the end of the year or next year. Also, the very nice thing is Samsung will offer these AI feature even on their older phones which is something the "innovative" apple can't do.

The crease on the flip phone is quite apparent. 😂 An iPad mini Pro might blow a creased Samsung flip phone out of the water.

Samsung's smartwatch with the orange strap looks more like a Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport than it does Watch Ultra. I'll definitely stick with my Ultra. Macrumours podcasters can finally have the round watch they whined about in their last episode.
Well, you know it just blends in and you stop seeing it. Was this quite a used phrase around here?

Competition absolutely, blatant lazy copying, nah.
Like basically all new iOS 18 features including AI features are "blatant lazy copying"?

Also, the Galaxy Watch ultra is quite a bit cheaper than the Apple Watch Ultra, if it would work well would an iPhone I'm sure a lot of apple users would buy it because it a really high-quality feature packed smart watch.

Aside from the buds, where is the plagiarism?

Apple doesn't have any foldables (yet), nor do they offer a smart ring. I guess offering a high-end smartwatch is a copy, but I'd say that's more a copy of Apple's business strategy than the actual Apple device.

I still see the notch. I know it’s there. Full-screen videos in landscape orientation and it’s very apparent.

The crease for the Samsung flip phone is always there. I’ve seen people using it. It is quite apparent.

AI, AI, AI….

Still can’t say “remind me at the grocery store to pickup some toilet paper….” And it happens.
That specific request seems really hard to implement, “the grocery store” is very vague, at least having a store name would help narrow it down more… And it would have to follow your location for the next X hours/days until you get to anything that could remotely be described as a grocery store. Even a human could get confused with something like this: “This is Walmart! You said to remind you when we got to the grocery store” lol

Wouldn’t it be easier to just say “Siri add toilet paper to my shopping list”?

It's actually considerably less apparent than the notch or the pill and these weren't a problem at all for apple users, so I really don't understand the insistence to complain and act like the crease is a huge dealbreaker.

When did Apple plagiarise an idea for a device?

A bad artist imitates and a great artist steals

Homepod mini as an example. They turned the crappy echo dot (which has the sound of an internal PC speaker) into a genuine speaker. Thats how you take an idea and make it your own. And no one yet has a device as cheap that is as good. And it’s been years.
"Homepod mini as an example"

Thanks for providing an example.

It isn't even remotely a copy. It is a development/refinement of their own Galaxy S3 Frontier design from 2016. And before Apple released their 1st Watch ever, Samsung had already released 3 squarish watches..
Borrowed from your edit and added the previous Frontier S3 and Gear Sport just to show the evolution of the design. It is literally their own original design from 2017 that they based it on with the added action button in the middle.

I wish that Apple would experiment a bit and bring us something different than the same basic iPhone design we've had since 2007. Keep the cash cow iPhone and iPhone Pro lines but bring something, anything different to inject some excitement in the smart phone market.
Having foldable displays like Samsung would be a good start.

Never thought of it but you're right. It's a cool tech but I can't imagine using it without being hyper-aware of that awful crease, no matter how much they try to hide it.
It's like the notch. You will see it for the first couple of days but then your brain gets used to it to the point you stop noticing it.

The larger inner display on the Fold is so gorgeous and infinitely more productive, I can't imagine going back to candy bar phones again.

Question for you all:

Do you trust Samsung products generally? Asking because I'm not sure I do, despite the coolness of what they're coming out with. It's all very attractive, etc. but I once owned a Samsung TV and was less than impressed with it. It seemed quite open to malware, as the updates to their security happened once every 2 years or so, if that.

That experience left me cold, and so I wonder at things like longevity and security.
