Samsung, why even have a marketing department, just wait till Apple does something then copy that way you'll save millions instead of having to come up with your own strategy

Good. The next step in breaking up the carrier oligopoly is to ensure that any device can be activated on any network in the world. I don't want a contract with my carrier or owe them for my device. Give the masses freedom to switch networks at will and we can stop having conversations about the meaning of "unlimited".

This couldn't have been said any better.

What's with all these Samsung nay-sayers? They're perfectly capable of their own innovation. Perhaps if they took the "bite" out of the left side of their logo.

At one point Burger King's business strategy consisted if building a BK restaurant close to every single McDonald's. BK just figured, McD's has their s**t together, so we'll just copy them.

Why not ?

Only problem might be, if Samsung is offering 24 month financing. That could be a problem because Android phones aren't supported by Google for upgrades that long.

What's the shelf life of an Android phone realistically ?

6 month financing maybe ?

I heard they also just uploaded a malicious version of their developer kit to baidu which injects malware into the apps it compiles.

They're calling it SGhost.

We can all agree that Apple and Samsung copy each other. If you don't, you need a reality check and a slap in the face.

Also remember that Samsung had documents that said to COPY the iPhone when it was released years ago.

Unless Apple wants to release a new phone every 2-3 months, it will always seem that Apple is copying.

The difference is: Apple takes time to refine what's out there, while Samsung just rushes everything to the market.
Apple has been done that for years.

1) iPod (wasn't the first MP3 player, but made it the most popular MP3 player)
2) Multi-touch (wasn't the first device that has multi touch, but the only company that made it "right")
3) "Smartphone" (wasn't the first company to make a "smartphone", but the only company that kick started the real smartphone industry)
4) "stylus" for iPad pro (many stylus out there, but one that made the stylus right)

the list goes on and on and on.

This will be a huge profit maker for Apple. It gives the illusion of a 0% finance option to customers and yet Apple get to take back the old iPhone after that year. If an iPhone retains 50% of its value after 1 year then this actually equates to an APR of 100% which is massive... (I.E. You end up with 0% equity at the end of a year rather than 50%)...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I can't even take this seriously anymore. I use to give Android guys slack but tried using a Note 5 in the store the other day and it was horrible... Only thing I'll give them mad props for is that gorgeous display.
the display is not gorgeous in my opinion. colors are oversaturated.

What would be a surprise if Apple is already working on things long before Samsung has thought of it, but due to the cycle of releases, Apple falls behind each time.

We aren't privileged to know a lot of details, but if Samsung is making parts for Apple, you can bet they already know what's coming next. And who's to say there aren't workers at both locations that secretly talk to each other.

On another note, Samsung could have a better display, but their UX is absolutely horrible. I try their phones and tabs each year and always end up shutting the Verizon sales folks up when I say, well look how easier this is on the iPhone.

I wonder how much cash is needed for this type of program. Essentially Apple is floating the cost of the iPhone for everyone on the lease program, right? I wonder if Samsung can actually afford this.
