I don't need to see it close up. TVs have screens 8 times bigger in each direction than an iPhone screen. A TV screen with the resolution that is needed for an iPhone would be 20K or more. The screen on an 8K TV would look rubbish on an iPhone.

Samsung has been making OLED phones since at least the Galaxy S2 that I know of, maybe earlier up until today in Quad HD Super AMOLED. The rumor is for 2018 to be the first OLED iPhone? Crazy. I wonder if that'll help battery life. Apple is having visions of how much smaller they can make the battery and how much thinner it'll be.

SAMOLED for phones is really old news. I only care about seeing SAMOLED in hybrids and laptops like the Thinkpad X1 Yoga and Galaxy TabPro S.

Anyone else ready for another Apple press event???? I know I'm ready!

Thinking one is due soon for Macs, iPads, and Apple Watch soon... one or all would be fine with me. I'm just ready for something new to dig into.

Samsung's current OLED and Super AMOLED displays are some of the best in the mobile device industry in terms of cost and quality. This makes sense, especially assuming that flexible displays are incoming. Samsung apparently is out ahead of the curve.

I don't think any "gate" MR has ever had, will even come close to that cluster that is going to be burn-in gate. Oh. My. God.

There are going to be threads thousands of pages long.

Apple depends on Samsung as a client depends on a supply. Simply searching the best product at the best price on the market, and the production capability needed.

I wonder what phone the "I hate Samdung/I don't want Shamesung (almost sounds like the guy on Mortal Kombat) on my phone" people are gonna get now? The iPhone 5e sounds like an amazing option

The Same things they buy now. The iPhone, which has always had Samsung parts in them

An i there only over who can't figure out what you're saying. This makes no sense... At all
Someone care to translate to logical

Is Samsung the only display company? Apple can shift production to other companies or is it a miracle that Samsung has screen innovation?

I doubt if Apple will choose Samsung over LG or Au Optronics or Japan Display for OLED supply. LG said investing over $5B in OLED, Japan Display said investing heavy to be ready for Apple 2018 iphone OED screen supply, AU optronics may receive Apple money infusion to be ready for OLED and FoxConn plan to invest $5B in korea for LED screen so How many supply chain Apple needs for OLED ?

Samsung and Apple - frenemies for life.

Very true. Many confuse Samsung's Mobile Division with their Fab Business. Apple sues Samsung's Mobile Division. I don't believe there has ever been litigation between Apple and Samsung Display/Fabrication.

No one want's all their eggs in one basket. However, it's not easy. :apple:

Everyone goes to Samsung for displays. As a result, Samsung has a ton of experience in the field.
Samsung holds a lot of display technology patents and owns many display related research laboraties. Samsung has many labs around the world, for example in the Silicon Valley:

OLED diode technology was invented by researchers at the Eastmen Kodak company in 1987. Now what happened?
Wrong. See also:

I hope we see OLED iPads and Macs at the same time.

I don't want an OLED iPhone but an LCD Mac. It's all or nothing.
