Apple has approached Samsung multiple times on settling these issues. Samsung says they don't WANT to settle and people still get all mad at Apple for litigating.

So if i approach you multiple times and demand that you give me a billion dollars and you didn't do it you would think it was ok if i litigated against you?

Denying a settlement does in no way mean either Samsung nor Apple is right/wrong.

Apple should not have the right to stop another company cause it has a patent it does not intent to use......

That's true. I'm only talking about people getting worked up about patents that they have already used and are now defending as any company with business sense should.

If Samsung spent more time inventing their own stuff instead of abusing their partner relationship with Apple then maybe this problem wouldn't exist to begin with.

Again more falsehoods about Samsung Electronics. These are patents granted in 2011:

Apple is ranked #39 with 676 patents granted. Most of Apple's patents are software patents which are dubious to begin with.

Samsung knows nothing but to copy. They copy EVERYTHING in every one of their products from washers (a copy of Whirlpool and Maytag) to televisions, to cell phones. I refuse to buy anything from this company. Not that they care, of course.

A patent troll is someone who sits on their patents without practicing them and then sues someone who attempts to use the patented method or technology. You may think apple is overly litigious, but they do practice their own patents, so they are not a troll.

What about those stylus based patents that they were going to use against Samsung on the Note? Apple is ridiculously against styluses on their devices. Based on your interpretation, Apple is the definition of a patent troll

Galaxy SIII and Galaxy Note II have already blown iPhone 5 out of the water, of course I know Apple fanbois are not going to admit this.

So if Apple reinvented "Smartphone", why can't the others follow the trend? Please think about this, Edison owned GE, and what would happen if he never allowed any others to open a power station? Do you think we will have hundreds of electrical appliances being used at home today if Edison acted just like Apple today? Simple!

That's a load of crap. Why do you defend Asian knock off's?

You were not talking about internet, tech magazines, etc.

Well, it depends on how strict you want to interpret "heard", I further explained myself in the previous post so it really should be clear that it's "observed".

They have more patents than Apple.

And I'd love to hear how Samsung abused their partner relationship. Do tell! I'll go grab the popcorn. I LOVE fantasy stories.

Can anyone be so clueless? Apple has the smallest R&D budget of any major electronic company. They spend under 3% a years on R&D. They get all the suppliers to do the real work. Samsung spent nearly $10bn alone last year. They are looking at spending $42bn this year. Apple only spend those large amount of money of accountants to help it avoid paying tax and lawyers to make stupid claims in court.

Apple makes a line of products that would easily fit on an office desktop, divided amongst iOS and OSX products, plus software. I'm guessing that 3% in Apple's case is quite sufficient based on revenue.

Considering that Apple designs all of its products internally, and works with suppliers to provide components to Apple specification, one would have to argue that Apple utilizes its R&D funding very efficiently.

Indeed, Apple has become a leader in manufacturing machined aluminum housings for its products that define product segments, i.e., Mac Mini, iMac, MBA, MBP, iPhone and iPad. Apple spends many billions of dollars per quarter providing state of the art manufacturing equipment to suppliers.

he usually pulls his posts out of nether regions

Samsung has the money for lawyers. They are larger than HTC, and can afford the fight. I must say though, Apple is becoming a patent troll. On some issues, I side with Apple, but these other claims are absurd.

I don't think you fully understand what a patent troll is.

Oh my God! Those buildings have windows and are built in an upwards fashion. Quick someone sue Samsung for copying other skyscrapers!

What's crazy is that even if they copied something to a T you would probably say the same thing.

I have never seen anyone with an LG Prada, or heard of anyone who had one and it was quickly discontinued. The exact opposite is true with iPhone. Do you want me to Google for sales figures for you, or do you agree with this assessment?

So you're saying that Apple were the first with these kind of capacitive touch-based phones based purely on sales figures?

FOX News speak there - you use percentages for Apple and then real numbers for Samsung. Apple focuses on a few lines of products, this is why they require less R&D. Other companies want a piece of every pie they see, which requires a lot more funds. Samsung happens to have their foot in just about everything under the sun...which means high operating costs. Through all of this, you're missing what makes Apple and companies like them even stronger at making better products.

Because they're not knock-offs? Quote one judgement from outside of USA where the design of the iPhone has been judged stolen by Samsung.

Samsung did not invent that, lol. DuPont had this up and running in 2001. This is what's funniest about the support for Samsung, they invent next to nothing that people are excited about them manufacturing.

Oh the irony. I was feeling a little "clever" - setting up this exchange. Sorry you got sucked into it...
