Samsung Note 8

Android, as usual, is not as polished as ios but it's also so much more customizable. It has been quite stable which is a welcome change from from the past. I need to remember more shortcuts as it takes me longer to so the same things on android VS ios.

just got mine today. I switched over from iPhone 7 Plus. Fingerprint scanner sucks. Keep having to replace my finger and then it says to place your WHOLE finger on it. Even then it sucks. Sucks that it only allows you to register 4 fingerprints. On the iPhone I registered my two thumbs, 3 times each so I would have no issues scanning my thumbs at any angle. With a case it's worse to get the exact placement of the finger on the whole scanner. I use the pattern lock as my backup. Always a pain getting used to the keyboard on Android and downloading my favorite keyboard. iPhone makes you sound smart when you type. I use my flashlight on my phone's alot and the iPhone is wayy brighter. Call quality is garbage. I use speaker phone a lot and could talk normally with my iPhone being on my desk. Now with the Note 8, the other person on the line complains that I sound like crap and they can't hear me so I have to bring the phone closer to me. Missing the silent switch. Other than that I'm loving it. I switch back and forth between iOS and Android every now and then. Will see what the iPhone 8 has to offer and might jump back to iOS. Gotta love T-Mobile.

I have not had any issues with call quality. Try turning off wifi calling if you have it on. The audio quality of the earpiece and speaker phone is definitely not as good as the 7+.

With discount it will cost £63 a month
Still very expensive tbh and your only getting 30gb data.
I think other networks offer better value
 
HOLY MOLY!! I just played with the Note 8 in a phone store and it is the best phone design I've seen this year! A bit tall but the camera is just phenomenal and the screen set to its max resolution is stunning! A hell of a phone..
Shame it won't get regular updates or work with the Apple Watch. The photos did not have accurate colours to what I took pictures off but they were fantastic to look at anyway!

Yeah Apple will have to go quite far to beat this one...
 
I was an apple guy before this phone and call quality is fine and so is the speaker phone. Keyboard is fine since I switched to SwiftKey.
 
I should say about the photos, it was in a Vodafone shop, so I took pics of the red loot statue thing in the middle of the table it was on, and it was a richer deeper red in the Note 8's screen but was stunning.

It also felt comfortable to hold, surprisingly..
 
The Note 8 works with the S8/S8+ Gear VR, but it fits tight and the latch is not fully on 100%. It works good though, I'm just going to be using it with the cover on for now on, incase the phone decides to slip out. I understand why Samsung made a version for the Note 8.
 
I've been back to look at the note again. Had a try of the fingerprint scanner but the phone was bolted down to the table so difficult to make any judgements. Anyhow the phone is still great. Very fluid. Great design and that S-pen. Can't wait until next Friday.

Agreed. I didn’t give them a proper chance at first because android’s history of being horrible prior to Kit Kat has conditioned me to seek app solutions to everything.

KitKat and Samsung engineering have come a long way since Gingerbread which seemed to linger on on the market forever.

That's good. I hope this is same with Exynos model. The exynos S8 seemed to handle ram poorer than the Snapdragon model this time around, but I'm sure the 2gb of extra ram will go a good way even if it's still not as optimised as the Snapdragon variant.

I'm messing around with both the Note 8 and S8+ at the same time, same setup, same apps ... did a smart switch between phones.

I don't know if it's the extra 2gb ram, Android 7.1.1, or 8.5 Samsung UI, or everything combined. But there is an obvious difference in speed and smoothness. Apps open noticeably faster on the Note 8, similar to vanilla Android pop in your face speed. The battery is draining much slower on the Note 8. And Hello Bixby seems to stay open every time I swipe to it, no more reloading (so far).

My only issue is, the touchwiz update that allows you to swipe down from anywhere on the screen to pull notifications down, didn't reach the Note 8 yet. But it's the S8+. That's weird.

I gave it a second shot with the Note 8 and unfortunately I just don't like Android or have gotten so used to IOS that there is no going back. There are so many complaints not related to Android or the physical phone itself that it was enough for me to ship the phone back. Like I told my co-workers, if you have been with Android from the beginning then there is no better phone hands down, if you have been with IOS it might not work for you. Apple should just copy the body of the Note 8 and call it day.

Good luck! Like you said, better safe than sorry. The Mayor of Houston was ridiculed for not evacuating Houston.
