I'm stil waiting for the SSD snd the adapter board, it is supposed to be easy, once did it on my 13 inch MBP and was simple enough.

512GB Samsung SSD Received and Installed!!

Hi, got my 512GB OEM SSD Drive (Samsung) today. I first installed it on my USB3.0 external enclosure with the Samsung Retina to 2.5 inch SATA adapter and did a cloning of the drive, to then install it on the machine with the supplied tools (very easy!). Then I installed the 256GB drive from the machine on the external enclosure, so have it for backup.

This is the speed I got from the 256GB SSD when it was still installed in the rMBP:

This is how the speed dropped when I installed it on the USB 3.0 enclosure with the adapter shown above:

I guess the quality of the external case is questionable :(

Have anyone tested the speed of the OEM Retina SSD on the recently released OWC external USB 3.0 case? I wonder how does it compare to my test above.

I also noticed the price for the OEM SSD's has increased dramatically since I paid $600 for my oem 512GB SSD back in October and now they are $1k !!! :( I guess OWC 480GB should be now selling like crazy for $600 !!

When I purchased my 512GB was tempted to buy the 768GB for $900, I guess should have done it since now it is $1500, that's crazy!
