TSMC scored better in 1 test, and worst in another test. People latched on to the TSMC being "better" thing, but almost no one cared that Samsung was "better" in a different test.

And we end up with threads like these...

The problem with that thought process is you're assuming it's the processor, because that happens to be the sole difference that you know about, between this new phone and your other one.

I have the Samsung model, could have switched (Over, and over, and over again), decided it was silly to do so. End of story.

I guarantee the problem is not within the cpu, it's either a bad install or bad device. There is no performance difference between the two.

Just let it go for a few days. The stutter will disappear. Had several exchange phones, both chips, result was the same. First few days stutter and then everything worked smooth. Maybe it's indexing...

I have been through 4 replacements first three were tsmc now my last one its a samsung i don't see any differences, battery life is the same as my previous tsmc iPhones, no sluggish/stutter/lags. so im happy with it!
Actually 2 of the tsmc iPhones did have those sluggish/stutter/lag.

Wish I didn't have to start yet another thread about this, but I felt I needed to:

I had a TSMC but had to get a replacement and I was given a Samsung. I knew going in the battery would be worse; but I was willing to deal with it. However, I am constantly experiencing sluggish performance and lag when using the phone (i.e. Unlocking the device there is a 2 sec delay when showing home screen, same delay when opening apps, random freezes when browsing safari etc.). I know this stuff happens occasionally, but I never experienced these many hiccups on my TSMC phone or previous iPhones (even iPhone 6 plus wasn't this laggy)

I'm in the exact same boat as you, my friend.

I had to get my TSMC iPhone 6s serviced at the Apple Store..they couldn't fix the issue I was experiencing, so they gave me a replacement. As soon as I walked out, I checked which chip I had, just out of curiosity. I wasn't so much worried about the battery life anymore, especially with the newer studies and tests proving not much of a difference. But, just as a tech geek, I was curious. I saw it was Samsung...shrugged....and went on my way.

My phone is newly set up...not restored from backup...and I get heavy delays and lag as well...when I unlock my phone, it takes 2-3 seconds for the status bar to display and for the home screen to become responsive.

I don't have a passcode on my phone...sometimes when I swipe to unlock the device...the time on the lock screen will slide out of view...i'll sit there and wait a few seconds looking at the screen...before it finally starts to load up the home screen.

Yes, I've restarted...yes I've reset/erased/started over...it doesn't matter. I definitely notice this too...it's very disappointing given that this A9 chip is supposed to be blazing fast..and with 2 GB's of RAM alongside it...but, no..it's laggy and feels like it's trying to catch up to your finger gestures/motions.

The one thing I can say, however, is that my battery life has been just fine...I haven't noticed any difference at all in that regard...battery life is great.

But yeah...very delayed, laggy, sluggish...and most importantly..disappointing (given the device retails for over 850 dollars)

hmmm, I'll have to try to find it.
I did notice it kind of did the same thing on my wife's iPhone 5s (iOS 9.1)
So, maybe you're right...I'll do some more searches to see if I can find the thread you're talking about.

It's not just Samsung chip as above mentioned, my TSMC chip also lags/stutter/freeze at times, comes and goes. So it's definitely a software issue.

My TSMC has lag. I think this isn't just about the chip as I've seen people post about this on both chips.

Honestly I'd be more inclined to think this may be a setting. It may even be a program/background process whose code is going haywire in the framework when device is unlocked.

Actually, the hilarious thing is, if you go back into the archives and look at the posts around the launch of the 6S/ 6S+ - before the benchmark battery and performance tests came in, when only the die size was available: people were clamoring all over these boards for the "smaller" and "14nm = better technology" Samsung chips! LOL...
