Yeah.... let's recover some money by selling ****** devices to lower income consumers. Samsung SMDH
The device itself was fine, actually a well designed phone if we're being honest and not a mouth foaming fanboy. It was the battery that was ****, and that's been corrected so why not? Would you prefer the million or so produced phones that went unsold get trashed, creating that much more e-waste just so you can feel better about your prejudices?

Kinda like how Apple sold the iPhone 4 until 2014. Although at least it didn't catch fire.

Selling an older model at a discounted rate is nothing new. You will find this in all aspects of consumerism. Trying to push out "modified" faulty model is totally different.

Would be good if they could. The note 7 was a really great device and this would mean the phones won't go to complete waste and affect the environment through tons of landfill.

If they sold them here at a decent price I'd definitely get one again.

Yeap, if they sold them for £300 they would be total bargains. They are fitting smaller capacity batteries and I'm more then sure they'll ensure they are safe now.

Tell you want, a note 7 as cheap unit is a bargain. Battery issue aside it would make a great phone, And when resold the battery would be fixed

The phone itself wasn't faulty, the battery was. The battery has been completely replaced so what's the issue?

Didn't they do that already and the replacements still had similar issues nonetheless?

You think it was only the battery?

Every battery in modern cellphones are equipt with safeguards to prevent them from a runaway meltdown. All of those safeguards in the Note 7 failed.

In any case this story was fake. And I am glad about that because this would have been epically stupid of Samsung.

This was proven false on 2/21, 3 hours after the initial report came out. Pretty irresponsible to do an article 2 days after the fact without doing proper research. On top of that it's not even Apple news.

Thank you!

Really Mac Rumors, recycling old stories that have already been proved to be false. Do you have ANYONE who actually fact checks things before blindly posting them..?

damn to be honest I wouldn't mind getting one on the cheap, exploding battery aside that phone was bad ass

So first they are saying, that the batteries had a production defect and it was not a design problem - even though they used two different battery suppliers and both of them had the same problem.
No, they had different problems. The first set had the problem that the physical size of the batteries was a little bit too large. Batteries all swell a little bit when charged; if the battery doesn't have enough empty space around it there will be trouble.

Then they needed replacements for those batteries, and wanted them quick. They rushed their suppliers, and when you rush your suppliers things go wrong. (Something that people should think about if they think Apple is too slow doing something). Totally different problem.

But in each case, the problem was a problem with the batteries, and there's no reason to think the rest of the phone isn't just fine.

That must be awkward. Having fallen on your face so hard, and be stuck with such a huge loss, have warehouses full of the stuff, and be itching to try to sell it to make money back. Awkward...
Anything has a buyer at the right price.

Why is this thread still active?
Samsung has already stated publicly that this is false.
They have no plans to re-release a refurbished Note7. The story was bogus.

People keep on posting in it which brings it up again.
