My Samsung ML-2510 stopped working when I installed snow leopard. I've tried the following, after finding others with similar problems (before snow leopard).

1. re-installing the driver from the Samsung website.
2. deleting the printer from the "printer & fax" pref, then adding it again, selecting "print using..." the new driver from the drop down menu.
3. downloading the Samsung Drivers from the apple website

This stinks. Any suggestions?

You might be able to use something similar. Here is Apple's list of Samsung drivers in SL.

I have a 2571N (connected to a Windows machine which I print to over Bonjour), but haven't tried it yet with SL to see if it works.

I see my ML-2510 isn't on the list. When you say "you might be able to use something similar" do you mean a driver from a model close to the 2510? Because I've already downloaded all the samsung drivers on that list. Twice, I think. Once on the install disk and once from the apple website.

Clearly something is wrong here. I'm begging to think I should've waited until 10.6.01 like all those nay-sayers. I was duped because Leopard's install was so smooth.

I am curious about Samsung printer support also. We have a ML-1710. I believe one of the Samsung international websites still has OS X drivers on it, at least that's where I got the driver I'm using under Leopard. I'll do some searching to see what I can find.

wow I'm bummed about this. They support a whole list of samsung printers except mine. I have the same one as you. This, after Leopard didn't support my Canon Lide scanner...what gives? Apple needs to stop the "It just works" thing. It just doesn't work.

I'm on the phone with apple right now. I'll let you know if they can fix it. So far he's had me try everything I've already tried (like deleting and adding it). Now he's "getting a product specialist" so I'm on hold. I thought he was a specialist!

I have a ML 2510 also. I just called Samsung and got somewhat of a rude reply to my question "are you going to update the 2510 drivers for Snow Leopard?" I was told when the programers get around to it. There was no offer of any other help. I suggest more people call in and ask the same question, I'd be curious to hear your responses. Its up to Samsung to provide a new driver so I guess its up to them when we get to use or printers again. Don't understand why they only upgrade a few of the printers and not all.

I hear what you're saying about the driver from Samsung, but just got off the phone with Apple and this worked:

In system pref>printer & faxes> on the left side, you should have a list of printers. You need to right click in the white box and reset printing system. This deletes all the printers. Then add the printer. It worked like a champ after that.

Hope that helps!

YEAH MATT... glad you called Apple. My printer now works!! Guess I should call the experts first next time!! Thanks for your help! Hope this helps others too.

I have this same printer.
Printing is not at the top of my list, but I'll sure I'll see what happens in the next day or so. May try numerous drivers, etc.

Yeah it's a shame I had to spend a few hours on this . . . finally calling Apple (see above post). I agree with previous poster. Stop saying "it just works" when it doesn't just work. At 10am (running Leopard) I printed off several things. After my SL install I had to reset my printers (after much trial and error and an Apple phone call). That is an oversight and ridiculous.

I'm not ready to say SL is like Vista. At least I didn't have to change the registry and reset 10 times. In fact, even while on the phone, I never reset once. But the install should work. This is a 9 month old printer.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for finding the answer. I've been struggling to get my ML-2510 working for most of the day. Your post sorted out my problem in 5 minutes :)

Regards,
Bernie

reinstall problems

I reset the printing system but could not reinstall the printer because there is no driver for my ML-2510. How were you able to reinstall?

Thanks man, saved me from a meltdown :)

Here is the link.

Use the first driver, not the Smart Panel. Smart Panel is a ridiculous mini app. It reminds me of all the crap that used to live in the lower right corner in Vista. No purpose.

Matt,

I could kiss you!!!!!!! :D .. But since you probably don't live near me there's no danger of that, so don't get worried ;)

Brilliant - that's fixed. I was getting ready to put my printer on ebay and buy another one ...

Oh the joy :)

Darned good printer too, so glad I can keep using it.

(I joined this forum just to say this)

My HP Deskjet 5150 doesn't work now either. :(

It's old, and the tiger/leopard drivers don't work, and there are none included for it with the current HP Snow Leopard drivers.

Try downloading the driver from HP, then resetting printers like I mention in post #8.

I've having a very similar problem. I have the Samsung CLP-510 laser printer. Before installing Snow Leopard, it worked great in Leopard. Now, it won't print at all. I tried resetting the printers, and installing the Samsung drivers from their site(that previously worked on Leopard), and re-adding the printer. No go. I'm getting the error that the old Leopard drivers by Samsung were installed incorrectly.

I've also tried drivers from the Gutenprint project, and the SPLiX project.

I'm going to try calling Apple and see what they say. My upgrade to Snow Leopard otherwise has been flawless.

Samsung CLP-510 works with SPLIX

The SPLIX driver works with Snow Leopard and the CLP-510.

Make sure you select the CLP-510, 1.1.0 driver

When I download and unzip the installer file, OSX 10.6 tells me I need to install Rosetta to use the installer. Did you run the installer? Or did you install the driver some other way?

Thanks for any clarification. I'd love to get my ML-2510 printing again.

Alex

I was very surprised to find there was no driver for my HP 5850 WiFi printer which had been fine in Leopard. The offer to automatically find a driver through software update advised Apple had no driver available. I downloaded the last OS X driver from HP but it was from 2006 and listed as for 10.4. The installer ran and I could choose HP Deskjet 3.3 in the drivers but that gave a error -9672 when selecting. I couldn't find an uninstaller or see what files it had installed to remove them.

There wasn't a gutenprint driver either for the 5800 series so I ended up choosing the 5900 series one. This did print OK so at least I have basic functionality.

My printer didn't work either. I had to install Rosetta and hunt down an updated driver. I think many older drivers (from the 10.3 days) are still PPC, so you may need rosetta.
