I also have an ML-2510. I can't believe I missed this thread. If I get mine working in a few days I'll reply back and share.

Snow Leopard Samsung ML-1710 drivers OS X 10.6

To install the Samsung ML-1710 drivers for Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6), refer to this article:
http://kurund.com/blog/2008/12/17/samsung-ml1710-printer-configuration-on-mac-os-x-105-leopard/

I'll reproduce Kurund's article in case the blog disappears one day. The article talks about Leopard (10.5), but I can confirm this solution also works for Snow Leopard (10.6).

From the article ...

1. You need to Download & Install following drivers:

* samsung-gdi-1.816.2.dmg
* Foomatic-RIP
* gplgs-8.63-ub.dmg ... if that link is dead, see http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/foomatic

2. Once you are done with driver installation, simply follow printer adding instructions:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1800?viewlocale=en_US

So now in your drivers list you will find Samsung ML1710

Hope this helps…

... End article.

Hi Fanthome! Welcome to Mac Rumors!

I'm not really the printer expert, far from it. I started this thread the day I got Snow Leopard - I can't believe it's been viewed 12,000 times.

Have you tried what I did in post #8 (on page 1 of this thread)?

Or, here is the page with the snow leopard Samsung drivers. Note that this came out AFTER I started this thread.

http://support.apple.com/kb/dl905

Hope that helps! If not, let us know, and hopefully someone else can fix this for you. It's great to see that a thread I started has helped so many.

I have a ML-2571n at work and it worked fine in Leopard on my old Powerbook G4 876Mhz! Now I've got an i7 Macbook Pro preinstalled with Lion and can't find the drivers! The UK Samsung site says the model doesn't even exist! Google turns up another Samsung site which CLAIMS it's the 10.6 drivers -- alright, I might believe that since you can run Rosetta, but I downloaded and tried the "10.6" driver installer (here on Lion) and it just DOESN'T work! It gives me the error that the installer is PPC code (brilliant, Samsung) and I've no chance in hell getting it installed.

Or do I?

The ML-2571n also isn't listed on that link to Apple's support page.

I'll just say this -- I have got to be one of the LAST people on this earth to make the transition to Intel. I got my G5 iMac in 2005 and had been using my old 2004 Powerbook most of the time just before I got the Macbook Pro a week ago. WTF is Samsung's excuse???

Did you try this link?

Try the Unified Driver. It's up under the product support header, and appears to have been updated in June this year. So it should work. It's how i got my 2510 to work...

Thank you

OMG Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. Forums save my life. I am SO glad I didn't have to throw out my Samsung ML2510 because I love this printer, its fast, its reliable, and the toner is cheap.

:)

This totally made my day! The "resetting" printers thing worked perfectly.

I hear what you're saying about the driver from Samsung, but just got off the phone with Apple and this worked:

In system pref>printer & faxes> on the left side, you should have a list of printers. You need to right click in the white box and reset printing system. This deletes all the printers. Then add the printer. It worked like a champ after that.

Hope that helps!

My printer Samsung ML-1450 stopped working when I installed Lion. I tried the same approach and it worked like a charm.
Now I will see if my Epson R320 will work the same way. I hope so!

I just did the Epson R320. Totally fine. I love it, because I don't need to buy printers again.

Samsung printers and Epson R320 work on Mac OS Lion

I got my ML-2510 to work with help here too (with 10.8), using the ML-2240 driver. I still find I need to disconnect and re-connect the USB cord after a couple of print jobs, but that's a minor nuisance.

Just a tip to fellow Samsung printer owners in need of new laser cartridges- instead of buying 3rd party or re-filled cartridges, you can find new OEM cartridges for the Dell 1100 Laser Printer and use those instead (also known as Dell part numbers 310-6640, GC502, and J9833)

Apparently Dell just re-badged a Samsung printer for some of their models (including the 1100), the Dell cartridges are much more prevalent and thus cheaper. I got a brand new cartridge for $25 on EBay. The Samsung ML-2010 also uses the same cartridge (and a couple of more models I believe).
