I just picked up Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 today! I gotta say I am so impressed!
My iPad air will soon be headed to swappa......
Great display and bigger screen and just added a 64 GB sd card.

Lucky you! A friend has one and loves it. She says the size is not a problem and it's very responsive. Although the screen is really nice, it's a tad less impressive than my 10.1 2014. She concedes, but it's pretty close. Enjoy your beast.

I had to return the note pro again. Same screen issue when playing videos on it. I'm tired of Apple's and Samsung's QC problems. Bought a Sony Vaio Fit and I'm happy so far.

Yeah size isn't an issue.. Got a great case for it.

Just looked at a Samsung Pro... Very compelling from a first look at BestBuy...

I have to say if it was the APPLE PRO ,I would buy it in 1 nano second...

The resolution was great... Ability to ADD 128 GB. 3 gig Ram...

WILL APPLE COME CLOSE...I dont think so...
WiLL APPLE EXCEED ... NO...

I think the Samsung PRO is my next Ipad...

4 hour battery life, man. Are you near an outlet all day?

----------

The myth that Android has no good tablet apps needs to die.

The reality is that comparatively few Android tablets are rewritten to take advantage of the bigger screen experience of a tablet. They tend to be one app written for both the phone screen and the tablet screen.

As soon as Google starts requiring tablet optimization, then we'll start seeing a Renaissance of Android tablet apps.

I have had mine for a day now and have only had to charge it once. It is new so I have been using it constantly! I think I will get between 10 to 12 hours........

I haven't decided on a case for mine yet. If you don't mind.......what case did you get?

Great case and so cheap too. Stands like the ipad cases too so perfect for watching things on

On medium to light use it lasted me over a week recently. Battery life is certainly very good

What is the stylus support like.

Is there any more sketching apps than just sketchbook pro mobile ?

I haven't a need for pro stylus apps. So far just a few kids apps for my son (6) so he won't miss the iPad air..... So far I am really impressed there is nothing i could do with the iPad air that i the Note pro was not up to the task. The screen is just amazing! It is extremely fast with zero lag and light and easy to hold....

I've tried several android tablets and I've returned them all. Main issues with me are two things:

-Touch input lag annoys me to no end. I like the screen to respond immediately to my fingers without that tiny delay that exists in every android device I've tried. I guess I could get used to it with time but then comes the second point.

-16:9 screen ratio. Since I do more reading than watching videos, I find that the screen ratio doesn't fit well for my use. Too little of a webpage is shown in landscape mode and in portrait the webpage is squished to fit the screen. You'd think with all the variety of android tablets, they'd have at least ONE with a 4:3 ratio!

I already have a full sized iPad. I wouldn't mind buying a smaller Android tablet for portability if they addressed that second issue. Come on Samsung! You friggin' have like 100 varieties of tablets.... Why can''t you make a 4:3 tablet?

I work at Best Buy and the main thing we hear from customers is that the 12" pro is just to big. I think we have only sold a hand full since launch.

They are big but very light.. Depends what you use it for. Think people just aren't used to the bigger form

Oh totally agree, but what I hear is people want smaller. We sell a ton of 7" tablets which to me surprises me. I still like my 10" tablet the nice sweet spot. Not to small not to big for my needs. But I guess everyone is different.

I think the smaller size fill the price sweet spot along with the size as well....

iPad Air vs the new 12.2 pro samsung tablet: no contest iPad Air wins.

You do realize after the gimmicks fade, the sheer number of quality apps in the iPad wins every single time.

Good luck, many do love their alternative selections but majority still go back to the iPad. iPad is the defacto standard in which all other tablets are judged.

What apps are you referring to that have no equivalent on android? I'm so sick of this argument...

Gimmicks being? The s-pen is incredibly functional, especially on such a large device. And multi tasking is also useful. I'm sure you use your computer with more than one app open at a time.

Agreed. Though I don't have the Galaxy Note pro 12.2, I have it's little brother the Note 10.1 2014 and it runs extremely well and apps look and work great.

iPads are excellent tablets, but for me, the note series has them beat. Admittedly, iPads have somewhat better battery life.

For the s pen, there is no competition.

I'd guess that people in general purchase more 7-8" tablets as most are using these devices for consumption with only very light productivity. The heaviest task most people do is likely reading/responding to email. Otherwise, they hit the sweet spot for both utility (much better for reading, watching video, web browsing, games than a smartphone) and portability (easy to carry in a purse or large pocket vs. more expensive larger tablets). Ten inch devices are a tougher sell and once you get up to 12", you're pushing into laptop territory. If you have the need for the stylus functionality, a 12" inch tablet offers quite a lot. However, from a productivity standpoint, once you get this big, I'd suppose most people would still prefer using a laptop for productivity, especially if they're spending $700-800.

The consumer who uses their tablet for media consumption but wants an extra large form factor exist a small niche market.

Yes, it is a niche market. Hopefully, that is enough for them to continue developing these great tablets. We'll see...

Mee too! ∑hat a great tablet....just got my 64GB SD Card today. Already have 20GB of music and movies on it. Watching movies while at the DMV today.....priceless.....

Yeah that's a big reason why it's better than an ipad for me. Apart from apps I don't see much benefit of having an ipad over this.

Agreed. This is the most important reason I use my (otherwise, in many respects, inferior, particularly WRT screen quality, which is dismal on the rMini) rMini and not my N7 2013. On 4:3, browsing the Web is simply much better than on 16:10, let alone 16:9.

Yes I think it is a big price issue people are cheap and don't want to spend a lot of money.

Nope. For only a little more money, you can get the Surface Pro 2, with guaranteed official OS upgrades in the next, say, 5-10 years; full x86 compatibility etc., and not much worse battery life. And, of course, it also has a Wacom pen with all the desktop(!) goodies (PS, PDF annotators etc.).

I personally would in no way get the Note Pro 12 with the SP2 being not THAT much more expensive.

There are a ton a great things about the Surface Pro 2...but battery life it not one of them...... I have a co worker that has one. We compared the two side by side and played a movie.....the SP2 battery drained extremely fast leaving it with 2 hours left over. My Note Pro still had 8 hours battery life left....

Yup, movie watching, according to the Anandtech benchmarks, chews thru the battery almost twice as fast as on the 10" Note 2014, even with the latest 25% battery life update (see http://www.anandtech.com/show/7478/microsoft-surface-pro-2-firmware-update-improves-battery-life ). Intel's H.264 hardware decoder implementation is definitely inferior to that of Qualcomm, battery life-wise.

In other areas (for example, web browsing), though, the difference is far less pronounced. In some tests, the SP2 produced even better results than the 10" Note 2014. (The test doesn't list the 12" Note Pro.)

I am not sure those tests are for actual real life usage. My coworker LOVES his SP2! But all he does is complain about the battery life. Its like having desktop power and full OS capabilities but in a tablet form....but all at the cost of battery life. He says he gets about 4 hours average between charges. My Note Pro 12 will last days. My Note Pro is 12.2 inch screen versus 10.6. SP2 weighs just over 2 pounds NP 12 weighs 1.5 pounds. The NP 12 has a better camera and better screen....
