"Samsung typically unveils new products at events in August, last year announcing the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Home Speaker, and Wireless Charger Duo."

Wouldn't that be the Galaxy Note 10? The Note 9 came out in 2018.

I really like my Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch. I considered an Apple Watch, but since I don't carry an iPhone (I have an iPhone 11 as a test device) it seemed like I would lose quite a bit of functionality.

Really sad that Samsung is going back to LCD for the tablets. Their Amoled RGB Stripe panels they've used on the tablets (I have the original Tab S) are amazing...

Though I heard the 11+ will still get Amoled.

I'm probably not buying a phones this year, Apple or Samsung. Normally, I would buy the iPhone and the Samsung S series phone along with that years Note. The last Samsung phones I bought was the S10+ and the Note 10+/ I'm still using the Note 10+, in fact I have two. I'm still using my XS Max as well and really don't feel the need to upgrade these phones.

Still carrying my S10+ and loving it. But my wife needs to move up from her S8.

Hey, there's a free app called "Remap Bixby Key with Google Assistant" and it does just that!

It can be done in the settings now too on recent models.

Let’s see

- Expensive but will drop in value after the first month essentially killing resale value later on.

- 2 years worth of OS updates. How Samsung knights try to defend this is severe Stockholm Syndrome. Imagine paying 1-1.5K on a device to be dropped like a bad habit a year or two down the road.

- Baked in Ads that you cannot remove. No matter how many settings you play with, Samsung still puts ads in their default apps. (Opting out of marketing does not fix this)

- In display fingerprint sensors are still not as fluid/seamless as Face ID or a dedicated fingerprint scanner. Maybe the Note 20 will address this.

- One UI. Personal opinion, but One Ui has to be one of the ugliest looking skins I have ever seen. Big bulbous icons painted in neon that clash with googles own app design language. One UI triggers my software OCD.

- Tug of war between Google Apps and Samsung’s duplicate apps. Why two of almost everything?

- Price drop: Yes it kills resale value if you buy from the start. If you just wait a bit, you get much more value for money. I got my S8 a bit over a year after release (when the S9 was out) for €440 euro which was a great price. IMO you get more value for money than Apple this way (the iPhone SE doesn't fix this as it's still 2016 tech with just a modern SoC: Big bezels, single cam, no amoled screen etc). And it's still €489 here. At least Samsung prices do move down so you're not paying the same for a brand new model as an 11-month old one.

- The OS updates are indeed an issue. You still get security updates for 4 years on the S range but yeah. Bad.

- I have not seen any ads in Samsung's apps, except for their own services (which Apple does too, like Apple TV). They do pre-install absolute crap like Upday, Facebook and Microsoft rubbish and tag them as system apps, but at least they can be removed via ADB. But yes they shouldn't do this on a flagship-priced phone.

- Can't comment on the fingerprint sensor. I have the one on the back still.

- I really prefer OneUI over Google's experience. Google's is much too bland and white IMO. And it's not slow anymore like TouchWiz was. But tastes can vary! I prefer Samsung's own apps for the above reason too. But in general I don't use many built-in apps anyway. Just the email and phonebook.

As a big plus for Samsung I really love DeX. It's amazing, I can literally work a whole day on my phone. That alone makes it worth it for me.

Note 20 ultra will be a great phone like all note lines will be.
My Galaxy Note8 begs to differ:
UX inconsistencies all over the place, no palm rejection for bleeding edge screen, and we all know how expensive their spare parts and labor cost to fix something that has broken be it accidentally or not.

Currently waiting the iPhone 12 to replace this "masterpiece".

Love them or hate them, they are one of if not the largest of Apple's direct competitors. Competition breeds innovation.

I actually moved to the Galaxy S10 last April and I've really enjoyed it, something I couldn't say for my previous Android phones when coming from iOS - I'd somehow always find my way back to an iPhone but so far - I've been pretty happy with it. Really have no complaints for once! (Ok, Bixby is pretty hit or miss but barring that).

I purchased the Galaxy Buds for $99 and they've been stellar on my phone and work PC and I use them for Teams calls all day long.

Its not the hardware, its the software. People buy iPhone for iOS. If the iOS could run on other manufacturers phone expect a huge fall in iphone sales.

Very happy Samsung Galaxy S9 owner here. Please see my responses below.

Valid point. If you are going to own Samsung you either need to plan to trade-in with Samsung every year or ride it out until the end when the device dies

Nobody tries to defend this because it is indefensible. Samsung and all the other Android OEM's should be ashamed of this. Sadly, they are not.

I haven't seen this on my S9.

This is a valid criticism. Nobody does Face ID as good as Apple. Samsung either needs to fix this or go back to a fingerprint sensor of the rear of the device.

- One UI. Personal opinion, but One Ui has to be one of the ugliest looking skins I have ever seen. Big bulbous icons painted in neon that clash with googles own app design language. One UI triggers my software OCD.

This never bothered me. But if it bothers you then you can always change it. Plenty of options in the Galaxy theme store.

- Tug of war between Google Apps and Samsung’s duplicate apps. Why two of almost everything?

A valid point, but I just disable the apps I don't like and keep going. At the recommendation of someone over in the "Alternatives to iOS" section of the forums I disable immediately Chrome on every new Android device. I also immediately disable Facebook. The fact that (in the United States) you can't delete Facebook really annoys me.

Been hyped about Samsung products like I used to be about Apple. We used to gather around at work and watch Apples press conferences but now I'm the only one at my desk watching Samsung's cause no one else cares. Hahaha

As always, Samsung is a sincere, unapologetic copycat 🥰

FINALLY somebody who says how things are. Thanks! Yes, I use Apple computers, have been using them for... let's see... 39 years, but I can't stand those who don't know what they're talking about.

Interesting so you are suggesting that Samsung Galaxy S phones stop receiving updates completely after 1 or 2 years?
It's fascinating how no matter how bad the updates situation is with Android there are always haters that try their best to make it look even worse.

It’s a fact, I said OS updates which you conveniently left out...Sure you get security updates for a few years but full features OS updates are only promised for two years.......
