Predicting the screens blanking out along the folds after the first few weeks. I am anxious to see the technology working though!

I also see the first few youtube reviewers folding them the opposite way, breaking them, and subsequently crying about the lack of support for free replacements under warranty.

So you are so desperate to discredit what Samsung is trying to do that you completely ignore the fact that the display in the Nokia is not foldable? This is definitely a cool piece of technology.
The Nokia is foldable, with hinges. See thread title.

It’s a technology achievement but it’s one I really don’t see the need for myself. If Apple introduces it in the future, I’ll pass. Unless there’s a use case I haven’t seen yet.

its curious that all the videos that claim to show actual Samsung foldable fon prototypes never show the fon in a completely open (in a 180degree flat open position). they are always shown either (1) opening to a still slightly non-open position or (2) fully closed.
never open, fully flat.

This will all be in the execution.

Still I likely won’t be the target buyer. If I have the choice between a big folding screen or a small screen with half the bulk in my pocket, I’d choose the small screen.

I think they need to get their words right. Nothing is being folded. It is being bent! Case in point, do yo fold your sheets or do you bend them?

Definition of fold. 1 : a part doubled or laid over another part : pleat. 2 : something that is folded together or that enfolds. 3 a : a bend or flexure produced in rock by forces operative after the depositing or consolidation of the rock. b chiefly British : an undulation in the landscape.

1. bendable - capable of being bent or flexed or twisted without breaking; "a flexible wire"; "a pliant young tree" waxy, pliable, pliant. flexile, flexible - able to flex; able to bend easily; "slim flexible birches"

Is it really necessary for phones to flip closed these days? Just because the technology of bendable displays are out there doesn’t mean companies need to rush out and make folding phones.

A folder would be a bent piece of cardboard.

Samsung been talking foldable phones for 5 years now and still nothing. Only reason they keep bringing up this phone is they have nothing to compete with the new iPhones coming. The S9 is a bust and the Note 9 is a niche product. Samsung has to come up with a smoke screen to keep the Samsung Defense Force hyped up until the S10........
