I’ve been on Android since the beginning, with early Motorola and then Samsung phones and Sammy Notes going all the way to the best Android I ever had, the Note 9. Great phone, did everything. Was out of OS Updates and the security updates were soon to end and I was in the market for a new phone. MADE A HUGE MISTAKE… bought my first Pixel, the 6 Pro, a fine phone but with a horrible modem, weak to the max! I’m not talking sitting in front of Wifi or close to towers, I’ve been with Verizon Business for twenty two years and I travel throughout rural Colorado and The West. Where I could normally get a signal from rural towers, the Pixel 6Pro was handicapped and suffered miserably. The kicker… I WAS NOT ALONE, many others had the same problem. Google Advanced Tech Support… literally REEKED BIG TIME. They knew they had a bad design problem using a weak, older modem in a so called flagship phone but THEY STONEWALLED ME AND OTHERS FOR FOUR MONTHS. Finally, took a huge loss on the phone, Verizon stepped up and is compensating me to a good extent, when GOOGLE DID NOTHING. I then bought an iOS 13 Pro Max and the phone has been performing very well. Have a Mac Book Pro Retina so the transition hasn’t been too bad. Bottom line… GOOGLE FAILED, the modem design failed, their customer service failed and moved on over to iOS and have not looked back at Android. Who knows, maybe I’ll buy another Android in the future? But the sour taste with Google left me very wary about ever buying another piece of Google hardware again. Pixel…6 Pro… Caveat Emptor… buyer beware. Rock on iOS.
Sorry to hear about your challenges and glad you found something that works well for you. Again, my S10+ does quite well by me with not a hiccup at any time. One reason I am considering the move is that I don't like Google's customer info/data practices.

Deed done. I made the move to the 13 pro max 256 gig. I already have mixed thoughts but I guess it is due to the last time I dealt with IOS was with a the iphone 5s.

My first thoughts -

The Samsung (Android) felt less rigid and in some ways, more intuitive. I gather it will take a few days to get a feel for this version of iOS. The overall feel of going from 6.4 to 6.7 (s10+ to 13 max pro) was minimal and feels fine in handling. I am not a one hand user all the time or for that matter, most any time.

Audio out from the max is far superior to the s10+. Using airpods 2 for phone calls was about the same experience save for the ease of paring on the max over the s10+.

I thank those who provided some input here and I'll see how things go over the next several days.

Congrats on the new purchase. ?

Welcome aboard the  iPhone train.

Give it a few days, hopefully you’ll love it.

Battery life is out of this world, buttery smooth 24/7, Face ID is amazing, macro mode camera, send full quality images & videos with iMessage and the list goes on.

You can always return it within 14 days if you don’t like it.

I know Geekbench scores aren’t everything, but this phone is going to be a joy to use for a long time to come, thanks to this A15 Bionic monster of a chip.

it’ll also perform consistently, and efficiently.

Main thing to say, enjoy your experience! One thing I will say about my ten days on iOS so far is that if I needed a question answered that I could not figure out myself with the phone, during the transition from Android to iOS, I would call Apple and they provided me with what I needed. There are aspects to iOS that are different than Android and if I was looking for a shortcut, or a way to get something done…I asked and it was answered. No biggie. However… asking Google for any type of help with the Pixel 6 Pro was like pulling teeth, assuming I could even connect with Google Advanced Tech Support or any support from them. I’m not one to usually… ask for help… but… Google for the most part, was absolutely no help at all. Apple OTOH is the exact opposite. And that’s a huge positive in my book.

You can always return to Android or buy yourself a smaller Samsung phone to use in conjunction with your Pro Max if you miss Android. Many folks do and/or swap phones in use on a regular basis. Another positive with iOS, the battery on the 13 Pro Max DESTROYS the Android’s battery use and the Pro Max… simply does its job of communicating rather well.

Have fun with whichever phone or both phones you choose.

The things that made me want to return to iOS so far seem to be slowly surfacing and perhaps requires a bit more on my part to get into the groove to exploit. There are again iOS moments where the system is too rigid and I admit I still hate the direction iTunes went a while back. I'll be looking for a 3rd part player. Btw, yes the battery life seems noticeably a benefit as I engaged the phone for several hours at a time with little drop in battery level. I'll have to figure which of my chargers at home is a good match.

What's hot and what's not.

Today was interesting as I had to reacquaint myself with synching (iTunes) music between iPhone and Mac. Once cable connected, it was quite easy. Alternative methods were clunkier than trying to get songs onto a Samsung.

I also opted to try out other music players and was surprised how stand bys (both Apple and Android) were changed enough that they didn't first grab local music on the iPhone. VLC and Flacbox seemed more interested in net and stream than local play. Foobar and Jet right away found local music. The oddest take on all of this - I could swear that the Samsung using VLC and a couple of other players sounded better with the same files in playback and using airpods2 than the iPhone with the airpods2. Very strange. I am sure I'll get used to the iPhone audio and perhaps can tinker with it a bit (with 3rd party player).

Case. I got a case similar to that on my Samsung, thin back and more emphasis on edges. Its a nice case but the right button requires serious effort to engage. Probably consider another case. Any ideas of a similar style case? I wouldn't mind the ability to use in the future magsafe charging.

Final for today - I haven't yet really played with the camera as I want to iron out small things then jump in. iPhone 13 max pro is indeed very snappy in response and running through some charging options. Interestingly the USB C on the M1 Mini only delivered just under 8 watts while the Caldigit Element attached to the Mini delivered just under 10 watts. Happy to hear of any multi-port charges folks can recommend. Again thank you all for your input. I hope others shopping for an iPhone might too get something out of this.

I can vouch for the  cases, they don’t add bulk to the phone, buttons are very responsive, the buttons on the leather cases have a satisfying click to them.

Got 4 of them at the moment, 2 silicone, 2 leather.

They might seem slippery at first, after a few days they become very grippy in the hand.?

The silicone cases do attract a bit of pocket lint and dust, leather cases stay dust & lint free.

I’m running with this combo when it comes to charging my Pro Max.

Belkin 3-1 MagSafe charger, 15W fast charging, my favorite charger.

Also can’t go wrong with the  20W charging adapter.

Two items of interest - how easy do the side buttons work? The case I did get is miserable with the right side button and takes considerable effort to press sufficiently. The other item, will magsafe charging work with this case? Thanks !

Never had issues with the side buttons on both the silicone & leather cases, I’ve always used  cases for my iPhones.

 13 series cases all have MagSafe built in.

You also have 14 days return policy if you buy it from apple.

Thanks for the response! I had a rather minimal case on my last phone and it worked well for me and the buttons required little effort at all. The case "Body Guardz" that I am using has some nice facets and would be great if not for the buttons.

No probs,

One more thing, stay away from the apple MagSafe charger, it leaves marks on your phone & cases. ??

If you’re after a MagSafe charger, go with belkin, had mine for over a year, hasn’t left any marks on my phone & cases.
