Samsung S26 Ultra/S26/S26 Plus

I tested the privacy screen for a few minutes and I don't think it's anything I will use.

This phone is incredibly fast and smooth. Battery life is also really good so far.

Yes, other than the privacy screen there really isn't much over the S25. Most of the software features on the S26 will eventually make it to the other models. Hopefully the S27 Ultra will be a bigger upgrade.

It doesn't bother me. I said I don't understand it or why it should be an issue in the first place.

Bother might not be the most accurate word but the responses to it online are pretty varied. If it was something that couldn't be turned off I'd be unhappy about that (assuming I was going to buy the phone otherwise) but as is I like it.

Update. My son got his s26+ and he put on an extra Spigen s24+ screen protector he had, fits great.

The privacy feature implementation is pretty slick hardware engineering and I could see the value for someone that needs or desires that element of security. I personally don’t have a need for it and losing half of the device’s resolution for it certainly wouldn’t be worth it for me.

That being said, I won’t be surprised if it becomes a feature we start seeing across most manufacturers.

I think if I had the feature I would just use it for certain apps.. I think that's best for me.. get a text message, you don't have to worry about someone peeking or emails and that stuff.. I wouldn't do the whole screen. I just like to see my phone from an angle and I remember having a screen protector like that on my iPhone and I ripped it off after a couple of days as the screen was darker than I wanted for my eyes ..

I totally get that. Samsung has followed Apple, if you have the S24/5U there's zero incentive to upgrade unless you love tech, can afford it and like the latest and greatest - this is Samsung's "S" cycle. It's the same with cars, you wouldn't buy the 2026 model if you have the 2025 model just to get an extra feature here and there - I don't agree with all the reviews of S25U vs S26U personally but of course people make tons of money from YT.
 
Just an opinion/take, but I would likely use the privacy screen for notifications, etc but not the entire screen; However, if I was potential buyer for this phone, I would have valued more advancement on the anti-reflective screen they introduced vs the privacy display, and the anti-reflective screen properties seems to have taken a hit for the new privacy feature.

i was able to use the 30 credit on Galaxy Buds4 Pro after samsung trade in when from 900 to 720 for s25 ultra

won't be getting s26 ...

Hope S27 has new camara

I think privacy display is useful, for example, in those cases where I would want to check my bank account through the app and don't want anyone checking my details passing by or whatever. Just a simple case it might be useful.

I read that Quick Share in the S26 lineup is compatible with AirDrop from Apple, just like in the Pixels. Can someone confirm this?
 
Received the S26U last night and set up as new. Holy cow the speakers, so loud and full. The privacy display passed the wife test- zero light emitted from my phone towards her when in bed. I have privacy screen enabled only for notifications and passwords.

Has anyone had issues with Gmail not showing any notifications at all? In the app settings notifications are enabled, pop ups allowed, etc.

Edit- you need to go into Gmail notification settings and the manage label setting, and enable notifications for every message in there. What a complex solution to a very simple problem. But it works in case anyone else has this issue out of the box.

I'm poking my nose around in here after hanging out with the OnePlus peeps. I'm curious, have any of you Samsung folks given consideration to OnePlus? I know Samsung has it's on ecosystem lock-in like Apple, was that the determining factor or something else? Just honestly curious. Not trying to be a OnePlus fanboy or anything like that.
 
Is there a way to have an unlimited rotation of selected people/photos on my lock screen like you can do with the iPhone? I love this feature on the iPhone as I can rotate the 8000 photos I have of my family.
 
This phone is on another level. Love the new OneUI aesthetic.

Privacy Screen is amazing. Using it at work and on the metro/transit. It's definitely not a gimmick for me.
