Apart from creating the worlds fastest smartphone in a form factor that is nearly half the physical size of that of it's closest rival. Innovation is more than skin deep.

And what smartphone would that be?

I see the iphone 5 wich is neither the thinnest nor the fastest in everyhting (and how are you comparing over OS'es?)

And its funny you mention "more then skin deep" as thin nor fast give any clear indication on how well it handels.

In reality iphone 1 was great ipad 1 was even better but since then its small updates while competors first came by and later in some cases surpassed apple .

And before you reply with a nonsensical post about sales numbers, I have two words for you: Justin Bieber.

Whether you like Justin Bieber, Apple, or neither, their successes make clear one thing: no one person is the arbiter of what is good and what isn't. The public is.

So, you go on being all hipster with your thinking Apple is too mainstream and lacking substance now. And if you hate the 5, please don't buy any.

But the sales numbers, whether they seem nonsensical to you or not, make one thing clear: the only way to make Justin Bieber stop making records, and to convince Apple that they are on the wrong path, is for people to stop buying their "junk." But sadly for you, for everyone who claims they hate Justin Bieber or the iPhone 5, there must be lots of self-proclaimed Intelligent People of Substance who are in fact, secretly listening to "If I was your Boyfriend" on repeat in their parents' basements, while tweeting about it under a fake twitter identity on their iPhone 5s.

The SGS3 is considered by most to be the iPhone 5's closest rival, so I was using that as a comparison. If you look up the benchmarks the iP5 smokes it.

By more than skin deep I am referring to such things as the manual layout of the A6 chip (not to mention that it is wholly Apple's design), and cramming everything and more that was in the 4S into the 5 while making it smaller and lighter. Also not forgetting the dynamically assigned pins of the lightning connector, allowing it to be reversible.

By volume, the iPhone 5 is 66.4% the size of the SGS3.

Ah, you do of course realise that the SGS3 has a 4.8"screen vs the 3.5" screen the iphone has?

SGS3 is 8.6mm thick iphone is 7.6 so barely any difference.

Plenty of other phones just as thin/small or thinner smaller .

Not very "innovative

Not really
, certainly when you see its 6 months old cpu still has cortex A9 cores compared to the cortex A15 cores the A6 has.

Compared to the note II (with a more recent CPU) its slower

The couple % faster in some synthetic benchmark is of little note.

The only thing there is a difference is in GPU, but only intresting for those who play any high res fast games, or a very small minority.

yes very important, too bad they didnt make the backside see trough so I can admire it every day.

EVERY phone manufacturer does this nothing innovating what everybody else does.

Again 4.8" higher resolution smartphone vs a 4% lower resolution .

The Huawei Ascend P1 has a larger screen, is a little bit bigger and lighter, same goed for others.

Again, doing the same what others are doing isnt innovating.

As much as I love Apple products, they really started all of this. Suing other companies to tamp down the competition just results in less choices for the consumer.

You sure about that?

He isn't trolling. What he is saying are facts and truth.
Apple isn't innovating any more. Refining isn't innovating unfortunately. I like iPhone 5. It is nice and at the peak of the evolution chain with the iOS. But that's it...no innovation. Take a look at the new Galaxy Note II video. That's innovation which sadly Apple didn't do last year.
