This is too good. I knew Samsung could not pull off a flawless launch. :p

Could you imagine Apple releasing a device with a non-working button? That would never happen.

A few things with your comment. I'm not buying the S8+ because of Bixby and many Android enthusiasts were left scratching their heads on why Samsung would release yet another voice assistant because Android already has Google assistant. This news is actually good and maybe Samsung will come to their senses and allow the button to be remapped natively and drop that stupid Bixby altogether. And because I also own a iPhone 7 Plus I do remember that the portrait feature was delayed after phone release. Apple just gave us the curtesy upfront. And finally the button is still functional if you've played with a demo unit. A short press brings up the Bixby cards and a long is what brings up the Bixby assistant (the feature that's being delayed.
So in all honesty I pray that Samsung drops it all together. No one yet has called it a good idea or must have feature. I wouldn't mind remapping that button as a camera button or something else more useful. And from what I'm hearing the button can be remapped with a third party app.

I was waiting for someone to pull them up on that. Mandarin is the most used language in the world per person. However English ( not American, sorry ) is the most globally understood language, so to not support it at launch is bizarre. Again Samsung are rushing a product out instead of waiting a few more weeks to have the feature ready.

If you are not able to map Google Assistant to the physical button then your in trouble.

Isn't a physical button going backwards in 2017 anyway? Everywhere else is reducing buttons and Samsung add a dedicated one like a 00's throwback. We will have dedicated Facebook buttons again soon.
What's the 'most understood language' it's completely irrelevant for the sake of vocal assistants. People would only use their primary language on such things, because the slight variations in accent makes them unusable. I live and work in the uk, and my English is not bad, however my Siri is set to Italian and I wouldn't use it in English (let alone American).

Apple rarely does that either. There's often some design or manufacturing flaw discovered after launch.

I think it's almost unavoidable with the complexity of today's phones.

Could you imagine Apple releasing a device with a non-working button? That would never happen.

Apple has released updates that cripple phones and deliver almost unusable messes like the original Apple Maps.

Better to hold back something until it works well. Which is actually unusual for Samsung if you think about it.

They WILL include Bixby in it's 'Google Now' Card left home screen format. It simply replaces the BRIEFING / UPDAY home screens of old.

They just will not support Bixby 'voice recognition' at launch.

Yes that's what I mean!

Here is the unboxing video - proof that Greece got it:

Chinese then Spanish are the first two most used languages. On earth.
English is the international trade, corporate/business default language. Making it a fundamental part of multi-national/world communication.

Perhaps not the most used by pure volume, but it certainly is the most useful language world wide

Be real, there is nowhere in the US one could go and not be understood assuming it's all in English, and I would say the same for the rest of the English speaking world, slang excluded. Spanish and Chinese have huge differences in dialects that almost make them different languages.

You didn't sit in front of the row of Boomhauers at the ballgame monday night. Mind you, this wasn't in backwoods West BAHGAWD Virgina, this is was in Pittsburgh. So in the interest of being real, I can count on three fingers the number of words spoken that were actual English.

Most used language on earth? Are you referring to Mandarin, or Spanish which is second most used? Certainly you know there are places besides the US and the British Commonwealth with people who speak?

Anyone buying the S8 was unlikely doing so for 'bixby' in fairness. Especially with Google Assistant baked in also. Now if Samsung just allowed users to map the bixby hardware button officially to support Google Assistant instead of it currently being a physical hardware reminder of a software feature neither ready or even when launching in the USA available to the vast majority of the hardwares users worldwide. (Yes forum users, there is a bigger world than just Korea and the USA) ;)

Actually, you can map the button. I'm with you, Bixby was a joke from the start. Google Assistant is far better than Siri and is genuinely great.

The software solution that lets you map the button allows for 3 different functions (single press, long press, double press) and I think it will be the BEST part of the phone.

You can check out a review of it on YouTube already.

Why do you say "not American"?

I think it's commendable that they are holding the functionality back until its ready. How many times have we had ****** first generation software just to meet a deadline? Apple Maps? MobileMe? Most versions of Windows? :)

Sorry dude the most used language un earth is actually Chinese.

Well you could argue that's Spanish but probably Mandarin

You have 2 languages in china. Mandarin and Cantonese are not the same ...

Also, arguably, people who speak English and can actually afford this phone are very likely the majority

Don't forget it is also required of commercial pilots for world air traffic control in aviation.

They are different versions of the same language similar to the way Spanish is spoken differently in Spain versus Mexico.

Wtf lol. I thought Spanish in Spain was understandable if you've learned Spanish in Mexico and vice versa. Mandarin and Cantonese are practically like 2 different languages.

There's a lot of variations on how they say things and a lot of slang in the Spanish versions. They can "comprende" but I would have a hard time with 2 years of high school Spanish understanding the differences.

And with the Chinese versions, even if each were used evenly by the populous of mainland China and Hong Kong, that would probably be more than English fluid English Speakers in the world.

Not sure if sarcasm or not :(

Apple released the iPhone 7 Plus with a non-working portrait mode that was added in later on.
[doublepost=1491980976][/doublepost]

Nice try, but not the same. The cameras on the 7+ did work perfectly fine, it was the DOF portrait mode (extra feature) that was added on the next update. Features get added all the time through software updates. Your equivalent example would have been "Apple released iPhone 7+ with a camera that did not take pics. Basically what you have on the Galaxy 8 is a button you are supposed to use to speak to Bixby but that doesn't work because...... you guess it, it is not ready yet. Btw, I love how beautiful Galaxy 8 looks and I may even buy one, since I don't give a toss about Bixby. But you should realize that making such a big deal for a feature that you even dedicate a button that literally does not work on release day is just sooo Samsung!!

That's why i said "if Samsung allowed users to officially remap the button."

A third party app workaround is not the same as a simple option in settings
