Off-toppic, but: I do hope Apple will someday support/allow TRIM support for the Samsung SSDs (or any other 3rd party SSD) I installed in all the MacBooks in our family.

Rumors point to them doing this very soon. Once the MacBook Pro non-retina is phased out this year, all new Macs will have TRIM, and because you won't be able to upgrade them, that solves that problem.

They will each claim to have better yields. This is a key segment of differentiation in competition. But apparently it's been leaked this year with be a feast for Samsung as they gobble up the orders for iPhone and Apple Watch SoCs while TSMC already has current iPhone and iPad orders. Next year rumored to flip flop on the suppliers. They are competing on Yield, Volume, Price, and Performance/Technology.

TSMC will continue producting all the A8, A8X chips, so it not like they'll be starving anyway....

Why do you think so?

It think this is kind of a jab at MS skipping Windows 9 and going to Windows 10, to be like Apple I suppose.

They should just call in Windows OS X, to make it even Apple like ;-).

Why would Apple want to get involved in ship building, the Korean defense industry, resorts, and insurance (all of which are major components of Samsung)?

Wouldn't a missile launcher with touch ID and using Siri be just peachy ;-)

A9 for Apple TV 4th generation and iPod Touch 6th generation too!

Why not the current SoC on all new devices?

That would be great, especially for the 4th generation Apple TV which I'm hoping gets access to the app store (for games, other apps). However, I would be very surprised if the 6th generation iPod touch got the A9. More likely the A8, or if Apple is really cheap, the A7. I only see the iPod touch 6 getting the A9 and 2GB RAM as well as every other iOS device if it's absolutely necessary. In other words, only if iOS 10 or 11 will kill any device with only the A7/A8 and 1GB of RAM combo.

Good Samsung..... Wasn't TSMC also the ones that Apple ran into problens with tipple level flash?

I guess NY's regulations and taxes scared Apple away. But come on now, there's land right across town designated for a chip plant AND in Malta, NY!!! We want you Apple! Bring us out of the stone age!!!

The only member who can sympathize with me is Glideslope.

That's Ok. Apple only does business with Samsung's semiconductor branch, not with their mobile branch (which was in danger of getting a 13 billion dollar fine in the EU for being a patent troll).

And what Apple's patent trolling?
