Off-toppic, but: I do hope Apple will someday support/allow TRIM support for the Samsung SSDs (or any other 3rd party SSD) I installed in all the MacBooks in our family.
They will each claim to have better yields. This is a key segment of differentiation in competition. But apparently it's been leaked this year with be a feast for Samsung as they gobble up the orders for iPhone and Apple Watch SoCs while TSMC already has current iPhone and iPad orders. Next year rumored to flip flop on the suppliers. They are competing on Yield, Volume, Price, and Performance/Technology.
Why do you think so?
Why would Apple want to get involved in ship building, the Korean defense industry, resorts, and insurance (all of which are major components of Samsung)?
A9 for Apple TV 4th generation and iPod Touch 6th generation too!
Why not the current SoC on all new devices?
That's Ok. Apple only does business with Samsung's semiconductor branch, not with their mobile branch (which was in danger of getting a 13 billion dollar fine in the EU for being a patent troll).
Apple is the good guy! They wouldn't troll! And what Apple's patent trolling?
Rumors point to them doing this very soon. Once the MacBook Pro non-retina is phased out this year, all new Macs will have TRIM, and because you won't be able to upgrade them, that solves that problem.
