A9 for Apple TV 4th generation and iPod Touch 6th generation too!

Why not the current SoC on all new devices?

With that being said, I do hope Apple takes on Samsung as their SSD supplier for their macbooks.

Off-toppic, but: I do hope Apple will someday support/allow TRIM support for the Samsung SSDs (or any other 3rd party SSD) I installed in all the MacBooks in our family.

If today's fanboys knew how these companies work internally, most forums would be closed because of no activity. Apple is no longer a company looking for wise users who appreciate good design. It turned into a new Microsoft when they decided to pursue quantity. So, fanboys, get used to it: Microsoft=Google=Samsung=Apple. No difference between them anymore. Yes, this turns Linux into the almost only really independent player, and yes, Linux is a step backwards if you enjoyed Apple. But these are the times we're living.

And I assume with this very wise statement you posted, you have a very deep & personal understanding of how these companies work? I assume that Tim Cook, Bill Gates, Larry Page and Samsung CEO report to you directly?

Samsung doesn't even makes CPU's.

Their SOC CPU's are designed by ARM, Samsung just has a license for those cores.

'Make' as in 'producing', they certainly do.

Companies shouldn't do business with patent trolls.

Why shouldn't Samsung do business with Apple? It's a good source of income.

FYI, Samsung has patents for actual technology that they utilize, unlike Apple who constantly file patent applications for concepts and mere ideas that we all know are never going to become products and is only done for the purpose of preventing anyone else to do something similar.

1. No, they make chips, not CPUs, that's a stretch.

2. Samsung is the biggest patent filer in the U.S. and has a lot of patents that really are what you describe. Do I need to post some of those here?

Also you say that because you don't have acces to Apple R&D labs, and apple only shows products after they are finished.

I see what you done did. You're right, Samsung does make the best. Too bad for them it's an Apple custom design.

I agree. Maybe Samsung could convince Apple it's okay to include more than 1GB of RAM on a phone.

Just like how phones aren't about the number of cores that you have, similarly, it isn't about how much RAM you can stuff into the phone.

Android has had, for a long time, dual and quad core phones in their mobile phones.

Didn't solve the lag though.

So Apple has become Microsoft because they sell more devices then they did 10 years ago? If they were less successful, they wouldn't be Microsoft?

Fine by me. Samsung already makes the best mobile devices.. No wait!

Laugh all you want but Samsung's Galaxys may not be as good but they are not exactly a IT/softawre-focused company. They make everything from Led panel to washing machine. Excuse them for not being the best.

Fine with me as well since Samsung makes the best Arm CPU's as wel.

The A series chips are designed by Apple's Engineers in Apple's Orlando, FL Design Center. Samsung Fabs an Apple Design. This includes the S1 in the Apple watch most likely by TSMC.

Samsung has nothing to do with the design of Apple's A Series Chips.

The Snapdragon 808 in the Galaxy 6 is not only the first 64 bit chip for them, it is a Qualcomm Design. :apple:

There will be no A9. It will be called "A10".

Incorrect. But a nice pun. ;)

Whenever samsung makes something for apple, it turns out great.

----------

When are these two companies just going to merge and create the largest company on the planet? Imagine that..... :)

nooo, because when apple takes over the world, why do they want samsung in it? They could let samsung control the space area.

The rumors that always say that apple is looking to move away from samsung.... I think they are wrong.

CPU is the one component we NEVER hear about people getting bad... it's not like a screen, where some may have edge bleed or something. Literally none of us have the slightest idea whether our CPus were made by Samsung or TSMC... & since they all work precisely the same, none of us can say with any authority whatsoever that one is better than the other.

Why cant we all just get along?

Exactly, I don't thing this battle against Samsung and Google is worthless. People use whatever they like and fit their budget. If a regular smartphone is better than an iPhone is just an opinion that we all should respect. The same for iOS 8 vs whatever candy is the newest Android OS.

Funny how TSMC claimed that they have better yields.

Well they have seen this coming as what they said was not true. Samsung won once again and we are all happy.

They will each claim to have better yields. This is a key segment of differentiation in competition. But apparently it's been leaked this year with be a feast for Samsung as they gobble up the orders for iPhone and Apple Watch SoCs while TSMC already has current iPhone and iPad orders. Next year rumored to flip flop on the suppliers. They are competing on Yield, Volume, Price, and Performance/Technology.

The only reason some are upset about Samsung getting Apple’s fab business is because they assume Samsung is stealing Apple’s IP and using it against them in competition. If that were actually happening Apple would surely know about it. The simple fact of the matter is that Samsung is apparently capable of producing the chips in sufficient quantities at the right price and with the quality Apple demands better than other suppliers. It’s business, not personal, and if Samsung is the best choice then so be it.

Forget the fAndroid crowd and their nonsense. They have become irrelevant to the discussion and Samsung’s recent struggles in the mobile market proves that. The iHaters have already moved on to other Android OEMs as their best hope of killing Apple. Let ‘em stew in their own hatred.
