Samsung to Respond 'Strongly' Against Apple Lawsuit

but there are ways to make Apple life hell and cause huge amounts of problems with out breaking the contract.

Examples are shipments get delayed. Takes longer to process orders.
Apple needs to rush order something and get it quickly..... Guess what not going to happen.
I have seen the back world of things like this. Samsung can do a lot with out breaking the contract. Apple is gaining a reputation not to be trusted in any way shape or form.

A number one customer in their electronics division that accounts to a whopping 4 % of Samsungs sales

The reliance Apple has on Samsung is much more than that Samsung has on Apple...

First, Apple is not Samsung's biggest customer. Sony is (link). Secondly, Apple is not your regular customer. They are the customer that is suing them! It's not your regular business situation. Thirdly, Samsung is the biggest supplier of LCDs, RAMs and flash memory. Apple simply can not replace them (there is no spare capacity available around). That's why Apple will be screwed.

maybe maybe not. My guess is Apple would be hurt more since Samsung would have a fairly easy time filling up most of those lost orders. Reason why is because shortage of those type of parts. Everyone is fighting over them.

Samsung is one of Apple largest suppliers.

you have that backwards.
Samsung can replace Apple as a client. Apple can not replace Samsung as a supplier.

Reason Samsung can do it is because demand for LCD, flash chips ect is out pacing supply.
Apple can not replace Samsung for the same reason. no one else has the capacity to fill those orders.

They'll get a real education if they buy a Galaxy S and begin downloading questionable apps, and their so - called "open source" Android OS slows, freezes, and/or crashes while it's mining their personal data.
 
Whatever happens, and no matter how stupid I think this lawsuit is, I hope Samsung get a stinker on their international image where people think they are some cute Korean company. As stated many times in this thread, they are the biggest conglomerate in the world and could swallow Apple whole. Hell, they could swallow Venezuela whole, and maybe even Canada. In Korea, they even run the government through many arms.

Comparing an electronics company (Apple) to a freaking giant lizard conglomerate that owns everything and (a little and) electronics, is as stupid as can be. In the age of the internet, why not read a little, first, and then comment on that shytebag murderous bloated tax-evading totalitarian regime known as Samsung.
 
This is just another pissing contest to result in a settlement and some bizarre technology sharing or nothing in particular.

It's posturing.
 
Apples sales volume is staggering, as is their income. These are clear facts that are growing weekly.

With that in mind, the fact that Apple insists on fostering negative energy, launching a law suit, and showing their pro war position to the world, is very revealing of who they are.

Unable to be a good corporate citizen, unable to satisfy their greed as they rake in more profits than the competition, Apples looking rather desperate. Nothing will ever be enough.

Please come to Korea. Samsung have been doing this illegally for years, often suing the small person to popperdom. No big corporation is good, but when you attach massive corps under the umbrella of a conglomerate, you combine all of that evil into one massive black hole.

At least Apple try to get to the bottom of suicides and deaths at their factories; at least they have only one core business to protect ruthlessly. Samsung (indeed, the biggest copycat I've seen) are huge pirates (selling fake DVD's/CD's in their grocery stores; rebadging Mercedes, Nissan, etc., cars for their own line; buying out large portions of most newspapers here). Apple's rise to the top has been fettered with bad, but not outright illegal bad to the extent Samsung's has.

Now we have bad planting a peck on evil.

After having seen the actual claims, I don't think so. Apple was forced to do this. Notice there are quite a few trademark claims in there, relating to icon design, and trade dress claims.

The problem with Trademarks is that if Apple doesn't enforce them, they will lose them. As such, their hand is forced in this. However, just the trademark claims would make for one small suit and would make it so some of them might get thrown out. Enter the design patent claims to "pad" the lawsuit and to use as bargaining chips.

In the end, Apple may just drop the patent claims during settlement negotations and get awards for all their trademarks, which is probably what they are seeking.

No. There aren't. Unless they've gone crazy and don't need a $5 billion partner. Money talks. Not hurt feelings over phone patents.

It really makes no difference. No amount of you wishing hardship on Apple will cause them actual hardship.

Apple has the iPhone and untouchable mindshare.

Samsung is a parts supplier that can be replaced.

Guess who my money's on to come out of this laughing?

There is only one group who's trust Apple actually needs: consumers.

Apple's got that locked. As a result, there are always suppliers wanting to cash in. Apple doesn't need their partners. Apple's partners need Apple. It starts with great ideas for great products. That begins with Apple. The rest is logistics.

Samsung is just sabre-rattling. This in fact, will have ZERO effect on their supply agreements with Apple. It's about a phone. Samsung isn't going to sacrifice their $5+ billion partner when consumers can't get enough of all things Apple. Samsung needs Apple's business.

They have always been this way. And the result: PROFIT.

All Apple needs are customers. And they've got no shortage of them. Customers like YOU, for example. You paid for Apple gear, you consent to what they do. You have no cause to complain.

There is no such thing as a "good corporate citizen." It's competitive and very cutthroat.

Samsung will not make things difficult for Apple, or covertly enact some form of vengeance by deliberately messing with supply agreements. That is simply inviting more legal trouble. This is a PHONE issues, NOT a supply agreement issue.

I fly internationally for business, with three visits per year to a different division of Samsung.

Please do not get me wrong, I am not advocating for them.

I have a full understanding of the business culture of both Samsung and Apple. The point I'm making is Apple could choose to take the high road, no one is forcing their hand, nor will Apple suffer.

Apple's track record is too well established, just witness their overwhelming success.

There is simply no reason, contrary to what some may believe, for Apple to add yet another law suit to the long list they've originated.

Apple could have chosen to be a world class leader with a great positive aire of confidence, not fear and paranoia.

It's no secret that Samsung and others run a rough and tumble business in their region.

Finally, its my preference to choose the products that suit my needs no matter who builds them.

We live in a global economy without the luxury of choosing the country of manufacturer. While it could be argued "just don't buy from them". We all know that isn't going to hurt a huge company one bit.
 
i'd probably be called an apple-fanboy from friends because having now own a macbook pro, macbook, ipods, iphones and ipads but this kind of **** apple does is probably what will make me hate apple and boycott their products if there were any other good alternatives currently on par with apple.

what i see is Samsung being a major distributor or hardware to apple, apple first finds alternatives companies for their hardware (sony, LG) and once they have find all the hardware replacements they go and sue [backstab] them?

Apple should know their products are far superior and better currently on the market, if other competitors are coming with close products, they should just improve on them rather than trying to shut everyone down and be some monopoly. everyone knows competition is what drives our development.
i can see this thought surely must have come straight from Steve Jobs from his big ego and ******** personality; he 'would' be the type of guy to have a 2 face - pretending to be nice to Samsung for all their parts and backstabbing once he finds out they're producing similar products thats gaining market behind the iphones.

you know what, **** apple and steve jobs. no more pity for jobs and whatever illness he's suffering from, probably deserves it, karma. samsung is one of the fatest developing tech companies that will soon beat Sony and i do hope they beat Apple and job's ass.

You know what's sleazy? Working with a partner while secretly copying that partner's work to create a competing product.

Microsoft did this to Apple with Windows. Google did this to Apple with Android. And Samsung did this with their phone/tablet designs and their UI overlay.

The Beatles did this to Apple, oh wait, they had Apple Records and the Apple logo for over 5 years before Apple Computer existed. But I'm sure that is overlooked.

As I mentioned in the other thread, you might actually want to take a look at the Apple Records logo before you make silly arguments that the Apple Computer logo is a copy.

And as cmaier clearly explained to you, this is a different scenario entirely as they were in two completely different industries at that time.

Oh, and what do the Beatles have to do with partnering technology companies turning around and stabbing their partner in the back? Nothing.
