And yet Apple sold more iPhones this morning than Samsung will sell Galaxies all year.

Samsung ad campaigns seem aimed more at re-assuring their own customers rather than trying to gain new ones.
I really don’t get why people are so sensitive about phone brands. I guess billboards like this don’t help the situation. The ad comes off as insulting to not just iPhone but iPhone users. The same way their stupid haircut add came off as. It doesn’t make someone who owns an iPhone think about oh yeah maybe I should buy a Samsung because Samsung thinks I’m an idiot.

How about just boast how great your product is then customers will want it. If your product is that great and so much better than everyone else’s you should be able to just say we have the best phone. If you have to point out someone else’s product in your ad that means you’re not the best. At least that’s the image they’re giving off whether it’s true or not that’s irrelevant.

Every company whose campaign tries to copy Mac vs PC commercials, ends up just looking desperate, and pathetic. You’re convincing no one to switch. Maybe you’re fulling the Samsung fanboys, but even then it’s sad.

I haven’t trusted Samsung since I was unfortunate enough to own the awful S20 Ultra with its multiple flaws including terrible camera.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max is far better in every day usage and I’ve not looked back since moving to Apple.

That said, there’s plenty of talk about market maturity in general across the industry… a more accurate phrase would be stagnation and laziness.

Samsung may do things first but when Apple does it they make sure it is way ahead quality wise compared to the so-called pioneer... Samsung mocks Apple but a few months or a few years down the road they follow the path of Apple... No headphone jack, no charger in the box, etc.

I suspect the 108 mp claims are largely bogus.
I've been a photographer using 35mm film and aps-c and FX-format DSLRs for more than 20 years.
108 mp isn't on digital SLRs yet, even in FX format. It's on medium format cameras though.

The noise levels on pretty much every smartphone are very high once you get above ISO 50 or so.

DSLRs excel at high ISOs like 1600, 3200, 6400, 12,800 and higher. Phones, not so much.

Noise levels tend to be related to megapixels. Coz the more pixels you divide your sensor into, the fewer photons strike each photosite. Which means less signal. Which means more noise. Ain't nothin' for free.

108mp on a ridiculously tiny phone sensor is basically b.s.

People are really ignoring the satellite stuff- biggest phone development in years.
It seems really interesting, it is just something most people probably won't ever use so the excitement level is a bit low. It is a great thing for those who need it though.

I think a prolonged -- years long -- marketing strategy that targets a single competitor is not a good strategy, and there should be a dramatic diminishing return. But perhaps they have data that suggests they should double down on this? Dunno.

When Apple mocked Microsoft/Windows it was on point, these just seem like hey we pay attention to everything Apple, lets post their specs in our ads/trolling...free advertising without Apple doing much work.

This isn't good, even as a Samsung fan and user I feel they should stand up on their own merits. Even though they aren't wrong, it's still negativity when they should simply hype up their positives.
