The neo-flip-phone form factor is the first foldable phone design I've seen that doesn't look like a solution in search of a problem.
I've been thinking (and saying) for a while that that was the form factor that seemed like it might actually make sense for a foldable screen. It actually does something with the foldability, rather than using it to combine two slightly awkward form factors into a single phone. The exterior screen has a specific useful purpose, and it even takes some advantage of the fact that it has a mushy, stiff hinge to do some half-fold stuff with the screen that's at least marginally useful.
That said, it still looks more like a prerelease product than something I'd actually want to use. Until you can snap it open (old-school-clamshell-style) with one hand and a satisfying pop, it's just not going to be something I want to bother opening and closing a dozen times a day just to reduce the pocket footprint in exchange for a bigger bulge. The screen wrinkle also still just "feels" wrong, although maybe you get used to it after using the thing.
I'm still wondering/hoping if somebody will do the same form factor, but with two hard-glass screens that have no bezel on one side and meet with only a little seam down the middle. Seems like that'd be a more durable solution.
